If they want to impress they should show dark souls games, nier automata, doom(and others) because they would probably run well.
Souls might idk.
Nier would 100% not. Even with far, i wouldnt expect more than 10fps on lowest settings at 480p.
Doom likely would. Especially if you imploy some lowspecgamer tweeks.

I didn't choose those games without a reason ;)

They already sort of run on the gpd win 1(especially dark souls 2 that seem to run well), on the win 2 they would run well for sure imo, only dark souls 3 and doom could be too much at 720p

I was on the money when I said that GTA V looked low 20s.

PS2 and Dolphin emulation don't look great, both seem pretty choppy (just looked at the Wind Waker and Arc the Lad), also pretty low resolution emulation settings too.

It would be nice to see the thing running games at an actual 60fps or at least a solid 30. Confidence in the product has not yet been instilled.

CS:GO with fraps running.

The only thing I spend at G Fat to buy the game, because I used to be CSER. This test is purely personal interest, not specifically looking for low with good optimization of the game test.

From what I can tell other than a GPD affiliated account trickling out teaser videos over the past week there are two testers who have received units and have been posting videos over the past 2 or so days so we'll probably be seeing more and more in-depth game videos that test everything the Win2 can do.

Hey y'all, I could use some help.

I'm looking into potentially picking up a GPD WIN (not 2). I'm primarily in it for the emulation. While I know it doesn't run PS2 games (at least not at a playable level), my main goal here is to have a portable Dreamcast that could potentially play Sega Saturn games and maybe, maybe just maybe, some Gamecube stuff (Baten Kaitos for example).

While I've been told that DC is pretty easily emulated on the machine, what about Saturn and Gamecube? When I look stuff up on Youtube, I'm honestly not sure who to trust when it comes to this stuff.

Any help would be crazy appreciated.

It's not really about the platform and morr about a game to game basis.
As for Gamecube, while Wind Waker ran well on my end (fullspeed nearly 95% of the time, completed the game on the win with the framerate counter) Baten Kaitos had some issues (althought it could be related to the emulator configuration, which I didnt spent much time on).
PS2 games like Persona should run fairly well.

599 US dollars.
According to Wade.
$699 RRP but I'm gonna say third party sellers like geekbuying and whatnot will end up selling for around $650 once its released
So kinda what I expected

Apparently a 2018 release, probably China only so don't get too excited.

"Thus, we have gone through a product development period of a long time to introduce to you a new generation of our product: The GPD WIN 2. Official retail price will be $1000."

From their Email

1k is too pricey for me guys yikes

I could build a 4k capable PC for that

The IGG price is going to be $599. Retail will probably be $630 initially

The $1000 is completely bogus. It's just a cultural thing. They also claimed Win1 would be $500 retail.

Chinese companies love their bogus inflated retail prices but I have no idea why they thought that was a good idea.
They originally posted it would be 6688 yuan on their Chinese forums and the forum revolted and they deleted that and reposted with it only saying tbd for price.
And now on their pocket and Win indiegogo update pages they are unveiling the Win2 with a announced price of $1000.
Did they really think the English speaking world would take that any better than our Chinese counterparts?

And the vast majority of the western world doesn't really know how Chinese companies love inflated msrp's so they're gonna see a announcement of the Win2, see the $1000 price tag, laugh and move on.

Can't wait for people to quote that 1000$ price in future discussions.

Only if those people ignore the context of previous products and China's business culture.
RRP is generally the price that goods are sold at in western countries, excluding minor discounts or sales, so it's on them for giving an inflated Chinese RRP if the expectation is that it's actually going to be sold at almost half that price.
Even so, $600 is still way too much for something like this for most people unless you have a long commute every day.
It's far more than I'd pay for a device to use around the house or for occasional trips for example. For that, $400 would be pushing it.

The price for the first GPD Win is the highest I'd pay for a device like this. If the GPD Win 2 really is that much more expensive, I'd just grab the first one if it gets a price drop from the announcement.

I got a few replies earlier and I'm super grateful, but I'd appreciate a little more input before I pull the trigger.

I'm on the verge of buying a GPD Win, and if I did, it'd be primarily as a Dreamcast and possibly Saturn emulation machine (with a dash of PS2 for some of the less strenuous games).

Can anyone here tell me what DC and Saturn performance on the system are like from firsthand experiences?

I have a Switch at the moment but my interest in Nintendo games is limited. I've played a ton of Skyrim on my Switch but the appeal of playing my Steam library on the go is quite high! Definitely going to keep an eye on this done as I'd trade my Switch in a heartbeat for this if it had decent reviews/benchmarks.

That is why I want one, i got a bunch of older steam games I would love to take with me on the go. Stuff that my 8 gig graphic card doesn't even notice running lol

the device is tempting, especially being able to play your steam library but i havent seen a reason to get this device yet. when i can get atleast 60fps in 720p on most, but not all previous gen games, then it may be worth it. This is definitely good for indie stuff, the ones that dont rely on a ton of 3d.

The appeal for me is that my rig is quite old now (built in 2011) and I just don't have the time to game at home much any more having small children running about so taking Steam with me on my train commute to work and lunch breaks? Yes please!

I've got a huge library of games sitting there, many of which I haven't invested much time in or that I'd like to revisit. If Switch keeps getting ports like Skyrim though maybe I won't need this thing lol.

? GPD Win 2 seems to have more than enough power to get exactly that on most last gen stuff.

Let me clear some points:
-pc games are not made with the GPD Win in mind, they are not optimized for it, most of them in theory shouldn't even start on them(but they do), games on switch are optimized for it but despite that the number of 3d games(exclusive too) that run at 720p or 60fps undocked is low, let's not even talk about 720p and 60fps.
-the GPD Win 1 is already able to run some ps360 games(not at 60fps though), personally i have finished Batman Arkham Origins, Condemned Criminal Origins, Titan Quest Anniversary and others, there are videos of people playing Skyrim, Fallout 3/NV, Burnout Paradise, Diablo 3 etc...
-...and the Win 2 is around 100% more powerful than the win 1 and you would use it for 2d indies?
-Win 1&2(and switch) are handhelds, if you expect desktop performance(even weak desktop performance) from a handheld you better save your money for a gpu or a home console.

BenjaminLSR, a press relations manager that works for Intel and who will be buying a Win2 has joined the GPD discord server.
He had this to say about 15w.
The only unknown here, is the amount of benefit you'd get in gaming if you could force the GPD Win 2 to 11W all the time.
Knowing 7W is TDPup, 4.5W TDPdown and 11W Short Term Turbo Boost.
But forget about that 15W :p You have to disconnect fan heat dissipation capacity (15W) and CPU TDPup (7W)
He's got a 7y30 tablet he's been running wiiu games on to see how they run.
He has also said that anyone that has any questions about Intel's iGPU's and the M3 series of cpu's are free to ping him on the server to ask him so if you've got any here's your chance.

I guess since this is the OT, I'll post this here

Sorry for the cliffhanger, reached max filesize. Part 2 looking at the BIOS is coming up.

(It defaults to TDP up mode)

Congratulations on getting a test unit and I saw some of your video.

I wonder if it is possible for you to test out the Destiny 2 free trial on Battle.net? If it can run Destiny 2 on low settings at 30 frames per second, then it may put my Switch in permanent retirement.

Here is a guide to run Destiny 2 with integrated graphics.

I doubt you would have the time but I am hyper curious about playing Destiny 2 in a hand held format without streaming from a home network source.
