For Falcom news, I would recommend sticking to Endless History. News will be accurately translated and spoilers will be marked.

On Twitter, I use the hashtag #黄昏 for tweets containing Sen III spoilers. It's meaningless for those who haven't played the game and short enough to not intervene with the tweet length.

Finally getting back into SC. How is the community going to go about playing the games in English after CS2? Apparently you need to know Zero/Ao for CS3 and now CS4 has been announced too.

A dissenting opinion I know, but I haven't played Zero/Ao myself and I enjoyed CS3 just fine. They bring you up to speed on everything you need to know, you just lack the sense of attachment. They dance around outright spoiling anything; from what I know about Zero/Ao's story there's very little CS3 gives away. It was the same sort of feeling I had playing CS1/2 before Sky trilogy, I knew there was more behind the story, but it wasn't effecting my enjoyment of the game. I feel like CS3 more heavily leans on the Sky trilogy than Crossbell, but even then I think they did a good job showing the weight of the necessary references in-game assuming you hadn't played any of them at all (except for of course CS1/2, which I just don't see how you can avoid playing first).

I hope this doesn't come off as rude or offensive, but how can you know how much of the Crossbell arc CS3 spoils if you haven't played Zero/Ao? I think I've seen people saying that CS3 spoils pretty much every twist in Ao.

I was really hoping we'd get info on CS3 localization before we found out about Sen 4 but what can you do. Looking forward to seeing what they reveal on Sen 4 although if I had to guess it won't be much until next year.

Yeah, that post confused me greatly... how can you say they don't spoil Crossbell if you've never played Crossbell lol. I can tell you as someone that has played both Zero and Ao that it most definitely does heavily spoil those games. I do agree that Cold Steel 3 relies more heavily on Sky than the Crossbell games though, so people can take some solace in that.

That being said, it is still possible to enjoy a game laden with spoilers, though I cannot deny that the enjoyment would be heavily diminished when you see or hear spoilers out of context. That's why I urge everyone to catch up on all the games out now, preferably in order.

Which doesn't include Zero/Ao so SOL there. To be frank, I know many gave up on ever seeing Zero/Ao a long time ago and just read the wikis to keep up with the series.

It's not a situation where if you miss one game, everything else is RUINED, so even if people unfortunately have to miss out on Ao before CS3 gets here, I wouldn't take it too closely to heart. Do what you feel is right on your own terms for enjoying this series.

I just looked everything up afterwards and compared it to what I learned in CS3, there is a ton I had no clue about. I was more addressing that the enjoyment of the game was not contingent on me having played the prior games, not that it avoided all spoilers. The spoilers that I learned about were the broadest of strokes with little to no context, and they felt similar to how they handled the Sky trilogy spoilers in CS3 (or even CS1/2).

I have no intention to mislead anyone, I apologize for the confusing post. I'm no authority on the subject, just a random player playing everything out of order lol.

I think that Astrael is trying to say is that yes, some of the pivotal things will be glanced over. But in the end you still do not know the details, how it happens, whatever. And i agree. Being a purist is just not going to be able with this series, and while it sucks there is nothing that can be done about it except waiting for a decent fan translation which is in the works. CS1 also reveals that olivier was in Liberl so if you go play that afterwards it spoils his identity. Cold Steel also spoils that there is a big magical tree on crossbell, a huge spoiler of the direction the games come in but you still do not get the details of what that tree was. Or the Trade Conference which is gone over largely in CS too.

Alright, I see what you mean. Though in this topic, I see people suggesting we play Sky and Crossbell first to maximize our enjoyment of CS3, not that we'd feel terribly lost without having played them first. And ultimately that's what it is, a suggestion. If you know you don't care much about being spoiled, there's nothing wrong with ignoring it. Whatever works for you.

My angle on it is like this: with a passionate team of fans hard at work on editing Zero and their recent announcement that they plan to edit Ao after, why not be patient? That's just me though, and I don't mean to suggest it's a better approach than going straight from CS2 to CS3. People who play CS3 when it comes out get to join in the heated spoiler discussion while it's still new, and they can then indulge in CS4 pre-release material that will naturally contain CS3 spoilers.

3rd is at the top of my list to buy whenever it hits sale again. I wish I could have played it this year, but my desire for Xenoblade was too strong. I loved CS1 PC, and playing 3rd and CS2 PC sounds like an amazing way to start 2018.

Lightning for Smash
Some of these late game collectables are bringing back nightmares from the first game. "Oh god, I remember the pain of collecting these..."

And
The world tree is like Mechonis all over again, almost. And that transformed Torna ship was a full on Mechon reference. Has some clear similarities to them and Metal Face in particular.

Lol. This game. At least the developers realize how shitty the positions they are putting monsters in are and at least have some work arounds.

UM on an area surrounded by ledges, because that's apparently what Monolith Soft went for with late game enemies to make things difficult. Nia gets pushed off, but there is a floor so she didn't die, but she can't run to get back to the location. Rex ends up getting KO'd. Since Nia is the designated "reviver" by the AI, and she can't reach Rex, the game eventually straight up ends the battle despite having a full party gauge to recover. The tank made no effort to reach Rex despite being like 5 feet away from him.
Wrong thread friend :P

So like this might be the only non-spoiler thing that can be shown I hear. Screenshots and site are spoilery of CS3.

They better keep that subtitle when it comes to the west. Lol

I need to play 3 ASAP. Has the Asian Chinese version of 3 been announced yet or are there any plans for it?

Wow...

those screenshots, the key visual...

HYPE

Want to double check this:

Since some things feel different when you see it converted from 2D to these 3D models, just want to check.

Is purple haired girl Renne? She was my first thought.

I definitely agree on the visuals and screenshots

Regarding the spoiler
I believe that is Renne but the biggest question is...... Estelle and Joshua coming maybe...?

Can't have one without the others. It's time to rock, baby.

Oh yeah, 10th reminder to play Trails in the Sky right now if you haven't.

Meh. I guess I'll play CS1 and 2 and wait until Zero/Ao fantranslations come out before CS3...however long that may take.

Damn, hype levels are off the chart!

With Renne showing up, I hope Estelle and Joshua will make an appearance too. I would love to see them in 3D.

I assume Rean will have to be rescued, based on the key visual? Will Juna be the protagonist in his stead, then?

I can't wait for more news. This is so exciting.

Finally up to chapter 7 in Sky SC

Funny how they went from one of the best dungeons with the laboratory, to one of the worst with the Glorious. It was short corridor after short corridor, absolutely monotonous. And I lost the Jaeger fight. They blinded me on the first hit and then doubled up on all their turns. Meh. Still made it to C+ rank. I'm officially as strong as Agate!

The reunion was actually pretty sweet. I'm not a fan of the technical incest but oh well. It's anime, what can you do.

Feels like I'm rapidly approaching end game. Nice. I started this game over a year ago, it'll feel good to finally finish it.
