Been thinking of replaying this game from the start before doing the DLC. Does the DLC affect anything outside the new area? Such as new weapons or abilities?

Patch 1.50 is out and the annoying LOD issue in the ground introduced in the main game after Frozen Wilds has been fixed!

Guerrilla is the best.

Jumped back into this for the Frozen Wilds over the past few nights.

And I'm right back in love again. In fact, so far I've been loving the missions and side missions too - much better NPC interactions here and staging. And the new environment is pure joy to explore - especially with the HUD disabled (save for a few dynamic options).

This is feeling like The Lost Legacy to Uncharted 4, only I already thoroughly adored vanilla Horizon. Its the same elements as Horizon, just put to even better use.

Hi everyone! We have a new patch coming out today that fixes some issues in Horizon Zero Dawn and The Frozen Wilds.

**GENERAL FIXES**
• Fixed several visual issues.
• Fixed several geometry issues.
• Fixed several audio issues.
• Fixed an issue in "The Forge of Winter" where some players would have the Time of Day locked after they skipped part of a cut scene.
• Fixed an issue in "Into the Frozen Wilds" where the Time of Day would not transition to dawn while traversing through the tunnel when the player would enter between a certain time period.
• Fixed an issue in the tutorials for the Carja Rattler and the Shadow Rattler where machines from The Frozen Wilds would not count towards progression tutorials.
• Fixed an issue where the functionality of the new UI for Treasure Boxes was unclear to some players.
• Updated the inventory icons for the Master outfits.
• Fixed an issue where the Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept outfit would display the incorrect image of the outfit in the Inventory menu.
• Fixed an issue where players with the maximum amount of traps on them were unable to take any resources from treasure boxes with traps inside.
• Fixed a design issue in the Nora Silent Hunter Master outfit where the stealth stat could be modified to a value that is higher than intended.
• Introduced a retroactive fix for the issue where outfits that were obtained prior to Patch 1.40 would lose their base resistances upon loading the save after updating to Patch 1.40 or newer.
• Fixed an issue in "The Point of the Spear" where some players would have the objective 'Meet Rost at the North Gate' appear as failed in the quest log once completed.
The Frozen Wilds
• Fixed an issue where Sekuli, the Specialty Merchant, would only appear on the map if the player was in Song's Edge.
• Fixed an issue in "The Shaman's Path" where some players would experience that Quest Pathfinding would not update when leaving the Icerasps through the right hand side of the exit.
• Fixed an issue in "For the Werak" where the timer would disappear when they would proceed down the mountain instead of following the mountain traversal route on the third challenge.
• Fixed an issue in "Out of the Forge" with the behavior of the Fire Claws if a player would stand in certain areas of the encounter.
• Fixed an issue in "Out of the Forge" where players could not activate the quest from the world map, as the Fire Claw sites would overlap the quest marker.
• Fixed an issue in "Weapons of the Lodge" where the objective log would be reset to '1/15 suns earned' after clearing the Snowchants Hunting Ground in The Frozen Wilds.
• Increased the frequency of non-daemonic machines spawning after finishing "The Forge of Winter" in The Frozen Wilds.
• Fixed several issues with the animations of the Fire Claw.

**PROGRESSION ISSUES FIXES**
• Fixed a progression issue in "Waterlogged" that some players experienced, where Gildun would be missing after exiting and re-entering the Greycatch.
• Fixed a progression issue in "The Forge of Winter" that some players experienced, where players could be spawned in geometry when dying in the lava at the entrance of the cauldron.
• Fixed a progression issue in "The Forge of Winter" that some players experienced, where Ourea would be stuck if the player moved quickly through the area before the Recycling Area.

**PERFORMANCE AND STREAMING FIXES**
• Fixed a streaming issue where some players that installed The Frozen Wilds would have the ground in front of Aloy appearing to 'bump-up' as it loads in ahead.
• Fixed a streaming issue where some players would experience the Metal Devil visibly streaming in when approaching it from Devil's Grief.
• Fixed a streaming issue in "Waterlogged" where some players would have streaming issues at the entrance of the dam after running to the Greycatch.

**CRASH FIXES**
• Fixed various crash issues.

Surely I'm either missing something or my game glitched out. How do you drop from ledges/climbing elements? Surely it must be possible. Couldn't figure this out and had to break alloys legs twice this session lol. Tried every button but to no avail.

Quite enjoying it so far otherwise.

Square, I think. It's been a little while. You have to be standing at the right spot and you'll get a button prompt.

Hey guys, kind of a weird question here:

Is there some site where to download completed or in progress save games?

My Ps4 broke while playing Horizon and the save data got corrupted, i want to finish it but i was already 30hrs in (finished the quest up north where you enter Ted Faro's tower), and i don't have the strenght to start back from the beginning.

Were you not able to upload the saved data to cloud storage?

You can probably get save games from GameFAQs and the like, but unless the region of the save game matches your game region, it won't work. Also pretty sure that will make you ineligible to earn trophies.

If you can't recover your save data, you probably have to start fresh.

Dear lord, I should pick up my 6 months of PS+ for MHWorld sooner than later I guess... would suck to lose my Horizon save data and I need it for online play in World anyway. (Writing this I just realized once again what garbage Xbox Gold and PS+ are, both of these are free standard features for any modern PC gaming service you don't even have to think about...)

There are a few saves on nextgenupdate but seems you have to resign them with the PS4 Savedata Wizard tool to use them which isn't cheap. As said above, they'll also need to match your game region.

Blocked from trophies too?!
Gah, that sucks.

Is there at least a way to cheese through a game and just power through the main storyline? I might do that if it keeps the game to a reasonable short lenght. I know, it kills a lot of enjoyment but i still want to see how the story plays out.

Just beat the last boss. Fuck that shit on Ultra Hard, literally burned through 90% of everything I had. I love how there are no trophies for difficulty but they lock you into whatever you start in.

Just started playing it, love it so far. So god damn gorgeous! Horizon is tied for GOTY with PoE for me so far. One thing i thought the OG lacked was interesting/enjoyable side characters. Besides Rust i don't remember any of them. But the first side quest i start i've met

If the base game is your GOTY then you're going to enjoy the shit out of Frozen Wilds, it's shockingly improved.

It has made me much more excited for the sequel given how quickly Guerilla seemed to have fixed a lot of the issues in such a short amount of time.

Are y'all ready to cast your GotY votes? :) ERA's polls are open.

I'm torn between this one and Nioh for my #1 pick.... decisions, decisions

We're pleased to announce that Patch 1.51 for Horizon Zero Dawn is available now.

If you encounter an issue while playing Horizon Zero Dawn, please try reloading a recent manual save, quicksave or autosave from the "Load" menu option.

CRASH FIXES

  • Fixed a crash caused by certain particles effects.
  • Fixed a crash for players who have over 2000 treasure boxes in their inventory when starting a New Game+.

I play so few games anymore I usually don't vote for GOTY. I think HZD and Lost Legacy are the only 2017 games I've played. But since Horizon turned out to be one of my favorites ever, if not the favorite, I'd be comfortable with giving it a vote.

-edit-
^ 2000 treasure boxes?! Holy crap.

Speaking about patches, I think it's funny how they didn't address the hunting lodge door situation. I've found several threads online about it and the dev account on reddit even responded (when you first arrive in Meridian you can't enter the hunting lodge even though NPCs happily go out and in, they simply put an invisible wall in front of the open door that doesn't disappear until you complete the first main story quest in the town). It was a little annoying because I restarted the game and even reloaded an older save state since I thought it was just a mere scripting error before looking online. Oh well.

Beautiful Province of Quebec.
I am in the end part of Wilds and I have a few comments that I will spoiler below but is it worth it to get the Armor that they say helps/prevents damage against fire (I doubt its full fire protection)over the Weaver armor...because this end part is overly difficult I find, even on normal...

I think they should of ended the Game with the Boss fight in the Cauldron...this kill 5 Fireclaws is a real pain...is there no way to see the ending or whatever in game without doing this...? I am level 57,all the Banuk weapon and upgrades on the Icerail and forgefire...took all I had to kill 1 Fireclaw, but now I have to kill 4 more...? I could roll around and fight for 2 hours without dying but I barely do any damage, even with Ice stuff...disable its components...? right,I am trying but it doesnt do much, even with the tera blaster stuff...it just goes on and on...any other tips for these guys...?no wonder the Trophies for Frozen Wilds are all Ultra Rare lol

Was loving this DLC until I ran into the timer based gameplay - hunting lodge stuff itself as well as how it connects to the main story.

I love hunting and killing machines, but I just can't manage to do it quickly enough. And the Stormslinger challenge decimated my stores of resources - just to net me a third place showing. Luckily the hunting challenges are optional (something I also mostly skipped in the main campaign) so I put in my tries and moved on to the main story and what do you know, it has me back at the hunting grounds for more of the same. This is as far as I get methinks.

I did the hunting ground story stuff on Ultra Hard and it didn't seem that hard, there's far worse encounters honestly.

I find it funny they've patched the 80 times but never seemed to be able to get rid of the black screen transition after quicksaving.

I'm loving this expansion. Gotta say, they've really improved the side-characters imo. One of my issues with the OC was that the side-characters were pretty meh, forgettable.

Man, I'm running out of Blaze all the time and I just spent my last shards on the shadow sling (which requires tons of blaze for ammo lmao). So no money to buy a bow that has harvesting arrows which everybody recommends for blaze farming for hours :(

The tutorial quests are stupid btw, why wouldn't they log your actions when deactivated? Atleast they never do for me.

Really enjoy the Ersa quest line though, super pumped to figure out what's going on.

Bought Horizon on Black Friday and didn't get a chance to play much until this week; binged through TFW the last couple of days, beat it last night and then beat the main game tonight. A few thoughts that have probably already been discussed a billion times since I stayed out of the thread until now due to wanting to avoid spoilers:

Things I loved:
-The story was awesome. I'm a sucker for end of the world scenarios, so it was incredible playing a game that dealt with life in a post-apocalyptic world without resorting to becoming Mad Max knockoff #20,000. At first I was disappointed with the trickle of backstory at the beginning of the game, but I realized it made me want to find out what happened just as much as Aloy wanted to find out. So it was pretty cool/satisfying to get this flood of information in the last few missions.
-Aloy is an really likable character. Rost was pretty damn cool also.
Rost spoiler
It's a shame he didn't get to see how much of a badass Aloy became later in the game
-Bow combat was pretty fun. Knocking off armor/weapon pieces with a tearblast arrow is always a really satisfying feeling.
-TFW did a great job handling side characters. I really didn't care much about them in the main story, but I really felt for Aratak and Ourea toward the end of the DLC story.

Things I hated:
-Melee combat kind of sucked. I prefer melee to ranged/magic in games, so it was disappointing to see how limited moves were, how the environment prevented so many attacks from landing, and how it felt like enemy attacks always got priority over player attacks.
-So many weapons/items felt like pointless fluff. I know this is likely because I played on regular difficulty, so maybe you actually do need to use everything when playing on harder difficulties, but I was able to get by 99% of the game using the same 2 weapons + melee. There was never a time where I felt like I needed to use traps or resist potions (except Corruption), and I was never like "OH GOD NOTHING IS WORKING, WHAT DO I DO...OHHHH WHAT IF I USE X WEAPON". This is a dumb complaint though, so it's all on me for not mixing things up more.
-Trying to heal while running was a colossal pain in the ass. Having to let go of the left stick to press up on the dpad, or to quickly scroll to a health potion, was pretty rough sometimes. And losing all running momentum when you heal was a pain also.
-Inventory limitations are never, ever, EVER fun in a game.

End of the DLC story:
I wonder how the Banuk felt about their warchief abandoning them after saving CYAN. I was expecting something to happen that would make Aratak chief again to free up Aloy to go do her own thing
.

End of the main game:
Hades waking back up and flying to Sylens was a pretty lame conclusion to an otherwise satisfying ending. I guess it might be necessary to set him up as a potential bad guy in the sequel, but I hoped Horizon would avoid such an overused cliche of "whoooops, bad guy isn't really dead".

Overall: a hell of a ride, and easily my GOTY

I'm starting the base game for the first time and hard seems kinda easy for the opening area, should I switch to very hard or does hard provide a satisfying difficulty throughout?

Also does Frozen Wilds add anything to the base game or can I wait until after I play through the game once to buy it? I don't wanna spend 20 dollars on an expansion for a game I haven't even finished yet.

Managed to beat Frozen Wilds. Great stuff.

Made a mistake going with Ultra Hard though. Unlike Very Hard, Ultra just makes some stuff not fun at all.

Won't be platinuming the DLC like I did the base game until they allow me to lower the difficulty.

There are some pretty cool new weapons/outfits that are better than what is available in the base game. Otherwise it's basically like a nice long side-quest in a neat area; nothing that really affects the base game outside of the strength of the new gear you'll earn.

Also the DLC is aimed toward level 30+ so there is no benefit to buying it before you hit 30; however if you are in love with the game when you hit the 30s you might want to consider buying it since the DLC story makes more sense in terms of story timeline if you do it before beating the game.

Alright yeah I'm fine with waiting until level 30 then or 50, just wanted to make sure the bulk of the main game won't be lesser without the dlc.

And any recommendations on hard vs very hard?

Can't wait until I can comfortably take on these fucking huge Lvl 27 birds. They're so annoying. Don't think I'm up to the task yet though despite reaching level 26 today. Wonder if I should buy some new armor next? Still using the Banuk armor that gives you 5 points on all elements. Worth it to upgrade to something better like the one that gives 15 on all elements?

Play on very hard.
I started initially with hard, but started anew pretty quickly after that. If your reflexes and your aiming ain't shit hard is not hard at all.

I did the same with TW3 two years ago...
Yeah I have aim assist off and hard still seemed very easy to the point where stealth was just a waste of time since you can dodge and melee scrappers fine.
