The full chapter is out...

HNNNNG! Seeing Casca with short hair again after all this time is surreal. It feels so good to have her back! Farnese suddenly bursting into tears gave me feels! What a moment!

The way poor Guts reacted when Casca broke down breaks my heart. All in all, the chapter is amazing! Miura never disappoints!

I only saw a few pages of it but what I did see made my heart sink

God, seeing Guts really upset after Casca's breakdown and the visual of Casca seeing a silhouetted Guts with the Eclipse apostles behind him is really saddening. I'm real glad Miura is taking this direction with Cascas psyche but god is it upsetting.

I wonder what the visual of Farnese thinking back to the Casca sprite was about? Might be nothing but I wouldn't be surprised if Miura took a 'Beast of Darkness' approach with Cascas psyche. That her trauma manifests itself as the Sprite going forward which Farnese may need to project her spirit on to Casca much like what Schierke does with Guts to help get her under control.

Edit: For Chapter 359 if it wasn't clear, don't want people clicking the above without knowing that.

Man, it's super depressing to see what's happening to Casca. She's back but at the same time it's clear that she's still suffering from her memory of the eclipse and that to an extent Guts is a reminder of what happened that day. She can talk to him without much of an issue, but looking at him is enough to cause her to break down.
Also, if Skull Knight is here on Elfhelm I wonder if that means that Griffith or some apostles are also one their way. If that's the case I'm not sure if the people of elfhelm can manage to fight them off? Golems can only go so far after all and it doesn't seem like the creatures on the island are fighters.

That was both amazingly warm and eerily unsettling at the same time.

Man, I feel really bad for Casca. All the memories she had of her friends, basically her entire life, is now a source of pain that can't be healed. Then she could barely look at the only person who she can talk to about what happened.

I was hoping to see exactly what happened after the ending of the last Casca chapter, like without the skip, but seeing old Casca back kicking ass is worth it.

The face of Guts when Casca had the PTSD attack was heartbreaking, the poor guy can't catch a break.

I'm scared about the Skull knight, when he appears shit starts hitting the fan.

Yeah that was quite an emotional chapter, loved it.

By the way, not that it really even needs to be said, but the art in this chapter is crazy good!

Yeah it is, but I must say I'm not really fond how he draws faces now, especially on younger characters like Schierke, the faces looks more rounder and the eyes are bigger.

Nice chapter but boy has the art/staging never fully recovered since Miura switched to digital. He'll still bring it for significant moments but for all the incidental panels it really feels like he's checked out. Characters and backgrounds feel so disconnected and flat. Its like comparing modern Simpsons to classic era.

Just read it, great chapter. The wide shot of
Guts standing next to the tree, by himself, while Farnese and Scherke walk over
made me tear up.

God damn.
Guts's reaction to Casca's PTSD was so heart shattering. I am wondering how they hell these two will heal because I can only imagine some bad shit happening soon. If Griffith is coming to the elf island and brings along his band then shit will be insane. I can only see it going two ways, either she sees Griffith and his band both in human form but is able to talk to him normally (poor Guts if this happens) or she gets triggered once again due to all the apostles and Griffith himself. Or I guess she will feel the brand itself like Guts.

One thing is for sure, Skull Knight is bringing bad news and we are going to witness some fucked up shit.

I hope we get a chapter next month because I can't wait for another break.

it would be beyond ridiculous if she reacted to Guts but not Griffith. Griffith is the source of her PTSD and should not be treated on any kind of benign terms at this point. If so I think it would be rather repulsive story telling from Miura. I hope when they do meat she reacts with some kind of determined adversity. She should not be a victim before him again - although not sure waht she can do in his currently god king like state (and he seems to be playing the good king at the moment). I think some good stuff needs to happen between Casca and Guts sometime soon. I mean only bad stuff has been happening for decades now. Needs to be some narrative pay off

I agree with you but the reason I think this is the
The fact Griffith is using her sons body. This along with the time in the sword graveyard make me think that something like that could happen.

I really hope I am wrong about this.

I had to read the last two chapters, man...wasn't expecting Griffith to actually value Charlotte's input and put money into the orphanage idea, seems like they have sex or something because with manga anatomy I just assumed the dude had no penis. Now regarding Casca...yikes.
Thank god see was cognizant of all of the stuff Farnese did for her and thanked her. I'm kind of at the point where I think Guts and Casca need a break from each other for their own good and for Casca and Farnese to actually hang out because holy fucking shit Guts is going to give her a heart attack.

Great chapter.

And it looks like Miura has the story credit as well for that Duranki, which makes sense.

Griffith is planning something, he did it for some reason don't know why

hope not. Rather tired of Miura giving Griffith far too much of an easy ride. I am also not really sure how long he is going to be able to keep up his messiah facade. I mean given his affiliations and genesis I am not sure how Miura can really justify this. The other god hand are more straight forward, but some Griffith is somehow a more idealised version of what he always aspired to be? Where is the catch? I mean I think it introduces an intriguing issue in relation to how Guts will confront him. Obviously this being a story I still want Griffith to get his almighty come uppance, and even all things being equal, Guts is just a much cooler character and far more bad ass than Griffith even with his messiah powers.

Agreed.

Griffith deserves to the shit he deserves and I really hope he gets it soon. I think Falconia will look at Guts as the "demon" who is coming to kill them. Casca's vision in this chapter is probably how he would look like the the people on Griffith's Kool-Aid.

It would be cool if Guts gets his own Band (maybe call it Band of the Beast or the Wolf??) and fuck Griffith up. I think this is what Miura is planning but he has proven himself unpredictable.

Now that the Casca quest is "done". I would really love to see how Silat and Rickert are holding up. Especially the latter who slapped the life out of Griffith and made a fricking Bazooka. Rickert has become such a badass.

Guts would need to befriend some broken shit to "fuck up" Griffith and his crew. He has the Berserker Armor and that's about it. Skull Knight jobbed to Griffith hard and Schierke has some powerful magic, but it would be very hard for me to believe Guts' team defeating Griffith's in anything resembling a believable manner.

I was more thinking a band who are attacking the goons of Griffith while Guts is going after him. Like imagine if he befriended some of the mythical creatures and went after him. I imagine some of those creatures/magicians/warriors should go toe to toe with some of the apostles.

I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop with Griffith. Like if he's going to eat babies can he start eating them already. The series can't even Kaguya up another villain because it would be an asspull.
The shoe is already dropped brother. The signs are already there. And I won't happen because unlike the ksih miura is a good rather

I mean Griffith has solo'd a bunch of stuff already. Guts would have to run into a couple of Flora tier magicians for it to even matter. Mind you when Griffith sent someone to kill Flora he sent fucking Grundbeld after her so I'm quite sure he took her seriously, but how many magicians that powerful can be out there? I guess whatever's left on Elfheim and since Griffith now has a fucking Star Gate I'm sure he's heading there next.

Good point about the Star Gate.
Skull Knight being on elf island is either a warning to him about Griffith or some other important thing that is happening.

Either way, I hope that Elfheim doesn't get destroyed.

In his last interview Miura did talk about the balance of power between Guts and the Griffith, hinting that he will probably have to give Guts some upgrade without making it seem too out of place or something along those lines.

Author comment (from Aazealh on skullknight):

"The work has been increased! I'm recruiting assistants!"

Probably referring mostly to Duranki, but could still be relevant to Berserk.

I think Guts getting to the point where the berserker armour doesn't fuck him up would be a good upgrade. Although can't deny that I enjoy it when the rpg party all get new tools and toys.
