Thoughts on the Keto diet as a long term, sustainable lifestyle? I'm at the point now where I'm not really trying to lose weight, but just trying to maintain overall health (triglycerides are a bit high).

I imagine a lowish carb, medium-highish fat intake is still ok? I know my carb to fat ratio is way off currently, as I'm consuming many more carbs.

Didn't this forum have a feature where when you clicked on a thread, it would automatically take you to the last post you read? What happened to it, doesn't seem like it's working anymore. it was so useful....

Adding onto this ^ is there a way to make a certain point of a thread unread? I open a page and get halfway, then later on want to read more but it's skipped the whole page :(

I don't think there's any way to do this, unfortunately.

How come all the Koreans I've met in the US are Christian? Apparently ~25% of Korea is Christian. Is it just a coincidence I've only met Christian Koreans, or do non-Christian Koreans not emigrate to the US?

I have a riddle that needs deciphering but I can't make my own thread so thought I would put it in here:

15 M on a D M C
4 I in a H
12 M of a J
5 G R
9 L of a C
2 W on a B

5 T on a F
15 D on a C F

6 P on a S T
8 T on an O
4 G of the N T
13 L in a B D
7 D S

The answer is a location.

I believe the initials make out the words to be these but I could be wrong:

15 men on a dead mans chest
4 inches in a hand
12 members of a jury
5 gold rings
9 lives of a cat
2 wheels on a bike

5 toes on a foot
15 digits on a clock face

6 pockets on a snooker table
8 tentacles on an octopus
4 gospels of the New Testament (not sure about this one)
13 loaves in a bakers dozen
7 deadly sins
I probably wouldn't have been able to figure out the phrases myself. It's broken up into three blocks so I thought maybe each line gives you one letter and each block is a word. I tried something and it looks like it worked.

For each number at the start of a line, count that many letters into the phrase, this is the letter.
e.g. 5 gold rings

  1. G
  2. O
  3. L
  4. D
  5. R
  6. I
  7. N
  8. G
  9. S
15 men on a dead mans chest
4 inches in a hand
12 members of a jury
5 gold rings
9 lives of a cat
2 wheels on a bike

5 toes on a foot
15 digits on a clock face

6 pockets on a snooker table
8 tentacles on an octopus

13 loaves in a bakers dozen
7 deadly sins

CHURCH OF TEPES
I had not heard of it before, but apparently it's where Vlad the Impaler is buried.

What's appealing about steaks? Unless it's dry aged, I'd rather eat a cheap burger

How can we distinguish between what is true and what is not?

I'm more of a burger person myself too, but once in a while a good steak is amazing.
But steak is such a general word, there are so many different kinds and cuts, maybe you're just yet to find the one you like. For example, I once had a skirt steak in a brazilian restaurant in Australia and that thing melted in my mouth and I had what they call a foodgasm

Which of the graphic t-shirt websites (teespring, designbyhumans.com, etc.) actually has good quality (material-wise) t-shirts that last for a while?

I'm not up on the current meta.

From Wikipedia:

Korean Americans have historically had a very strong Christian - particularly Protestant - heritage. Between 70% and 80% identify as Christian; 40% of those consist of immigrants who were not Christians at the time of their arrival in the United States.

Reasons given for the conversion of immigrant Korean families to Christianity include the responsiveness of Christian churches to immigrant needs as well as their communal nature, whereas Buddhist temples foster individual spirituality and practice and provide fewer social networking and business opportunities, as well as social pressure from other Koreans to convert.

First paragraph indicates a higher rate of Christianity among Korean immigrants. The second paragraph details why.

What's appealing about steaks? Unless it's dry aged, I'd rather eat a cheap burger

How do you cook your steak? A medium rare steak that's been properly seasoned is delightful and juicy. There's also a perception of a higher quality of meat and higher status associated with eating steak.

As for your truth question you'll need to get more detailed. If philosophical truth I can't answer.

If practical truth follow these steps:
  • Always check sources
  • Fact check claims
  • Learn about bullshit rhetoric and manipulation so you can detect and avoid it
Additionally adjust your information intake to only trusted or vetted sources and verify additional information from sites like Snopes.

I have enjoyed the quality of my purchases from RedBubble.

There should be a setting on your PS4 called "HDMI Device Link" or something like that.

Read Manga/Comics/Novels on it.

"lowish" will throw you right out of ketosis. I mean, it might still be a healthier lifestyle, but it won't have anything to do with keto.

This may be a stupid question, and I think I already know the answer. But I figured I'd ask in case someone could answer.

If left in a cold environment -- say in a case that's sitting on a cold, non-insulated cement garage floor during the winter when it can get to -20 or -30 -- will canned beer freeze and explode like pop? I assume it will, but wanted to double-check.

Very likely.
Alcohol doesn't freeze at the same temp as water, so a high-alcohol-content beverage may be safe to store in the freezer. I keep my vodka in the freezer for this reason.
But 3.2% beer? Very likely to explode.

Thanks. I'm wondering if I should move it out of my garage, but don't know where to store it. Maybe I'll find a plastic cooler and put it in there.

The beer is around 5%, because it's Canadian.

Someone else already thought about it, and moved the beer down to the cold cellar in the basement where it's not nearly as cold. So it should be good. The water, which was freezing, went along with it.

I didn't notice it'd been moved.

One could always store it inside....people.

Touche

I'm cheap and don't drink much, so I've been hoarding it and saving it for a rainy day, for when I want to get drunk. I hardly ever get drunk anymore, or have more than one beer the odd night and usually just grab one out of the fridge every so often. I hadn't gotten to that box, which was given to me for my birthday. But I need to open it soon and replace what I borrowed.

My family got a 4K HD Blu Ray player. We're trying to play regular blu rays; the movies play, there's audio during trailers and the menu, but no audio during the movie itself.

Any fixes or reason why this would be? The audio during DVD and cable and streaming movies work just fine. Could it be with DTS MA audio settings?

Edit: NVM, had to switch to PCM

Is there a thread dedicated to musical instruments (specifically - drums)?
Would love to talk about it and ask for tips and more, and I don't want to start a thread cause I'm very much a beginner

You could do a search of course on the instrument...
I just did. No topic for drums.
There is at least An OT for Guitar.
https://www.resetera.com/threads/guitar-ot-if-you-stick-with-it-youre-gonna-be-rewarded.1668/

So if you want one, you could request one being made.

Anyone ever think going to the Dr. should only be for like super important shit? Like I have insurance right now, but I got this thingy on my knuckle but instead of going to the Dr. I'd rather just get rid of it myself. So I did. Anyone else feel the same?

No, I prefer to let professionals deal with my medical needs. Healthcare is almost free here and the risk of infection during self-treatment is unnecessary high.

A local restaurant, previously a bakery, is changing its name to "Tap't" to reflect its new focus on draft brews. They're having female servers wear shirts that read, "Just Got Tap't". This seems... inappropriate? Would like a second opinion.

Just the female servers? Or all servers?

It's not a marketing method that I will personally respond to. But if they want to classify themselves on the level of Hooters, well. They can.

All servers, but there are no male servers; it's a small restaurant.

I'm not sure the owner is aware of the additional context implied by that phrase, so I will contact her about it in a neutral manner. After that, well, it's their restaurant, as you said.

A lot of small restaurants, especially local ones, don't hire male waiters because they're still on the idea that sex sells and that only women should be servers.

I'm pretty sure they know exactly what the shirts mean and that's why they're doing it.

I'm moving to the USA in a week and I'm planning on buying a phone there. A smartphone would be the ideal for me so I can scroll resetera listen to music or do work.

I've seen Republic Wireless and they seem pretty awesome to me, anyone has any suggestions?

By the way, I come from a super cheap place so the cheaper the better. Here for 10$ a month you get 3GB of data and unlimited calls/sms (and unlimited use of the most famous apps like instagram, facebook, Snapchat, etc..).

They are aware.

Call the local news and get them shut down or give them business, never know which was it goes.

Do they sell them as souvenir shirts?
