Yeah overall this Travis/Quavo album is light. I don't agree that it trails off though, I actually think the 2nd half is better. Problem is most of the tracks are kind of basic bangers and the performances aren't doing much to elevate the music here.

"Saint Laurent Mask" is so damn good though. That and the Mike Dean ass work on "Huncho Jack."

I thought that Trav Quavo was gonna be certified collab of the year.

But I guess it goes to

Nav and metro.

I actually like the 2nd half more too. Especially some of the weirder beats. Shot out to How You Feel for the kooky ass Mac DeMarco/ Shigeo Sekito sample.

Jack Huncho makes Super Slimey seem a lot better in retrospect.

Speaking on the latter, I was lukewarm on it when it first came out, but I find myself going back to it more than I expected and it's grown in my estimation over time. Fringe top 10 contender. Not as good as HNDRXX, but definitely better than Beautiful Thugger Girls. And wayyyy better and more inspired than this Trav/Quavo project. God, the thing is pretty weak. All kind of blends together. Saint Laurent Mask is fuego though.

Eye 2 Eye sounds like it could've been on Culture. First half could have been left off (Modern Slavery is a nice opener though) for a more slim, solid tape. The second half production way more interesting, Saint Laurent Mask and onwards. Still wishing for another gem like Oh My Dis Side. :(

Top 3 songs:
Saint Laurent Mask
Moon Rock
Where U From

top 5 collabs:
Without Warning
Droptopwop
Huncho Jack
Young Martha (if i can count this)
Super Slimey

Slimey is just bogged down by samey Future verses to me, and zero Metro Boomin production was disappointing. Also I can't be the only one who kept FUTURE and tossed HNDRXX.

I'll probably give it another shot, maybe I had Future overload the first few times I listened when it came out. It just didn't click.

I loved songs like High Demand and Might As Well on FUTURE so I feel like I could find some similar songs on HNDRXX.

EDIT: First half of HNDRXX I'm still not into (outside of Incredible and Fresh Air), but after Neva Missa Lost I like most of the songs (Rihanna one is just okay). Hallucinating is probably my favorite, love the beat loop.

Huh, I made a playlist consisting of songs from both albums and have 10 from each, lol.

Caleon's new jam is infectious. Homie is going to blow eventually, I could really see him on "Atlanta". Unfortunately, I don't think his beard is full enough to be cast on "Insecure" lol

Watch that Ye/CuDi actually drop on December 31st.

Wait, aren't Desus and Mero basically glowed up Internet celebrities who *just* got a TV show?

Kinda corny point to clown someone else on. Plus it's Viceland, brehs acting like they hit HBO.

i don't know how anyone can dislike cardi b

it's okay to not be a fan of her music but if you watch one interview with her and don't come out of it thinking she's hilarious... i don't know what to tell you.

And I don't say the above to diminish the role of the producer at all, particularly Metro's ability to attract people to an album. Just think it needs a different connotation than collab album.
