It's important that everyone know that while I can get down with some seriously nasty ass corporate pizza, I specifically stopped going to Papa John's because of him. Fuck him, fuck that pizza, fuck the cup of garlic butter, and fuck rich people blaming minorities for slowing sales. Fucking despicable.

Their pizza is disgusting, love yourselves a little at least.

Papa Murphy's is where it's at.

Papa Johns is still on the top of the shitty national chain pizza pile.

Little Ceasars is actually very delicious. I prefer them to Papa John's most of the time. When PJ's had that tie-in to the ghost busters movie and had the pizzas with the really large pepperonis. Those tasted amazing and I'm sorry they don't have that topping anymore - at least in my area. But yeah, other than that, Little Ceasar's is where it's at for decent cheap pizzas.

And as others have said, now that Dominos changed their recipe, those are like top tier for chain pizzas.

Pizza Hutt - not even once. Something is wrong with their boxes nowadays. The pizza takes on the flavor of the box, it's gross.

Maybe it was just my location, but I've tried Papa John's numerous times and it's the worst pizza I've ever had. The pizza itself tastes bland, and the crust is like cardboard. Honestly Little Caesar's is better. Even Dominos pre-garlicistheanswertoeverything-era pizza was better.

Ugh, so many questions...

1. Why would you bash the NFL for pizza sales? I know of their agreement, but I doubt anyone's gonna say "let's not buy papa" because I don't like what football is doing" in the first place. Those who weren't going to buy pizza to begin with weren't gonna buy, and people who were gonna buy don't just say NOPE.
2. Will he still be living at Princess Peach's castle?
3. If you are having troubled sales, and questionable groups are asking if you are their official pizza, why would you even say anything? You certainly don't want shitty, questionable, and hateful groups affiliating with your company image, but why say something directly against them. Won't that hurt sales even more?
4. Why do people like them so much? Their pan pizza is HORRIBLE.
5. He's still chairman, with a quarter stake in the company... is this a long-term move?

There are some whispers that it was the cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, who was behind Schatter speaking out against the anthem protests. Jones is invested in some 100 papa john's locations, vehemently against the anthem protests and was also, at the time, in the middle of his own battle with the NFL commissioner due in large part to one of his own players, Ezekiel Elliot, being suspended and how that process was handled. It was all speculation and rumors, but it wouldn't surprise me if true.

And even if true, it certainly doesn't absolve Schatter for his actions at all.

His leaving isn't going to fix that nasty ass pizza though.

Amazing that this looks like an idealized version of Papa John, that isn't swollen with bulging virulent bullshit.

As a UK resident, I still find myself baffled at how Papa John's pizza is somehow completely different over in the U.S. Over here, it's the best of the three big pizza-brands (Papa Johns/Dominos/Pizza Hut). Surely they can just transport the recipe over to there?

Speaking of papa johns. I was worried about posting this due to the political climate and I only cared about deals. My local papa johns franchise didnt say it so I still ate their pizza. This is very YMMV but you can use code DEC50 for 50% off regular menu price and then put 25OFF(it stacks). It depends on your local papa johns and how much they normally charge for a topping. I could get a XL 10 topping pizza for $5.20

As a Canadian, I also kind of feel this way. I like their 7 cheese pizza a lot.

Their only edible pizza is the chicken barbeque, which is actually decent. Anything with actual "tomato sauce" is likely to make you ill.

american junk food dealers and buyers have this wonderful race-to-the-bottom feedback loop. if they included actual ingredients, investors would rebel. if they raised the price to make the food less garbage, people would go elsewhere. the people willing to pay for quality aren't going to be convinced to buy papa john's by a marketing campaign

I am confused about this whole thing. Did he embrace the alt-right directly or just by proxy of being against the NFL protest?

Ok? Clearly you don't know many or any people that well since Papa John's is quite popular.
People don't like the guy's politics, so they pretend his pizza is bad and unpopular. Of course neither is true.

Some alt-right website claimed Papa John's to be the "official pizza of the alt-right". Something that means literally nothing, considering he wanted nothing to do with them. But as it happens, he is conservative in his politics (like a lot of CEO's) and people had no problem taking the alt-right at face value when they claim something.

Ya'll saying Pizza Hut is better that Papa Johns have been drinking too much sauce.

It is. Walmart marketside pizza is better than Papa Johns. Papa Johns pizza is just that circle of cardboard you find under frozen pizzas. It was only ever popular because of that garlic sauce (which everyone has now) and if you need garlic sauce to make your pizza taste good in the first place you have problems.

I would get Little C's over this nonsense because the former owner of that franchise wasn't a fucking racist plastic surgery addicted fuck head.

The only time I had Papa John's was for a college event and the only thing I remember liking was the garlic sauce. Pizza was so bland.

I first started to dislike the Papa back when I learned he refused to increase the price of pizza to support Obamacare for his employees. Really scummy. Can't say I'm heartbroken he's stepped down as Chairman.

I'd eat just about ANYTHING besides Little Caesar's. The crazy bread is alright, but the pizza is worse than the cheapest frozen pizza you can buy.

Papa John's ain't great, but it's cheap all the time.. and the buffalo chicken pizza is legit.. and the philly cheesesteak when they have it.

Real shit only good thing about papa johns is the little peppers they have in the box. I wish other chains did that cause I love those things. Aside from that it's pure trash. Cardboard ketchup bread.

Damn people, a decent frozen pizza tastes better than almost any of these major pizza chains.

If you're not going to get pizza from a decent local place, just get a damn frozen pizza. Goddamn, Papa John's, Little Caesars, Dominos and Pizza Hut all taste awful.

I think Little Ceasers is actually cheaper than cheap frozen pizza, so that makes sense lol. I remember when our old HR manager spent our entire employee appreciation party budget on a pizza party, getting the pizza from Little Ceasers. It was terrible. Just huge stacks of uneaten pizzas everywhere. The saddest "pizza party" I've ever been a part of.

My kids school had an event for something, can't remember.. but they had bought all these Little Caesars pizzas to sell by the slice for the dinner... at the end they had like 20 full pizza's left and most people wouldn't even take a whole pizza for free.

As much as I think this guy is a grade A dickhole (Schnatter, not you lol) and that Papa John's isn't good, this is simply true. Pizza Hut is worse than fucking Little Caesar's and is the only pizza joint that gives me the runs. A seriously unholy amount of nasty grease.

Don't order the shitty pizzas from Pizza Hut. The pan pizza is soaked in grease. The original crust isn't that much better, tbh.

The only safe options are the thin crust and maybe a specialty pizza when they have them.

Same with Ceasars, you order a hot and ready, you deserve a cardboard plate covered in dry sauce and cheese.
You call in a pan pizza from Ceasars with extra sauce, extra cheese, and extra cook time, and you have something close to a Detroit pizza.

don't buy the shit they want to sell you, buy the things you want. they think you're a piece of shit with a wallet. Don't listen to them.
