So I have a particular scenario that's been bugging me recently. I use the same phone for work and personal, for work I have to take lots of photos which are clogging up my Google photos and hiding the actual photos I want to see. Is there any way to have 2 separate instances of Google photos on my phone? One for my personal photos and one for my work photos. I don't want to have to carry around 2 phones...

You could use two accounts and switch them via the Photos app.

Anyone find a loss of quality using the adapter to plug in 3.5mm headphones?

I want to replace my my g5s+ since it has given me a bunch of issues, but the lack of a headphone jack in a bunch of phones is kind of turning me off.

Tbh, the only situation I can think of that I'd need the USB C and 3.5mm is listening to music and charging my phone while driving, because my car doesn't have bluetooth.
get a phone with a headphone jack.

Couple of solutions, what phone do you have?

Stock android you can:

-Add a separate account inside of the Photos app, however you can't decide which photos get backed up when.

-Add a second user to the phone itself, when you need to do work stuff, switch to the second profile. Only pictures taken from each profile will back to up their respective Photos account

Newer Samsung:

-They allow you to create "instances" of app that are sandboxes from each other. This way you don't have to switch profiles

App:

Find an photos app that has a separate "folder" vault for work pictures

You guys think it would be a mistake moving from a Pixel 2 to Mate 10? Missing the big screen after coming from a 6p but worried about missing the stock android experience though Huawei software doesn't seem that bad.

My wife has a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, that used to have amazing battery life, even years after it was new. But recently it has taken a nose dive. She will charge it to full and without even touching it, by midday she will be down to 15%.

We had the battery replaced, thinking that was the issue, but it doesn't seem to have fixed it at all.

Any other possibilities on what could be causing this? Things to look for?

I don't know where you sourced the battery, but for a phone that's three years old, it's going to be difficult to find a battery that's actually new as opposed to refurbished.

I'd monitor the apps she's running on it, especially anything installed recently.

Well, my Pixel C tablet is shitting the bed. Lower half of the screen (when in portrait orientation) is ... bad. Sometimes I get random RGB static. Sometimes I get a darker image that updates at a lower framerate. Sometimes I get the worst case of screen tearing imaginable.

It all persists even during the boot cycle.

Well shit.

It was a local chain repair shop. I assume it was a new battery. Could be wrong though.

As far as I know she hasn't installed anything new here recently. And going to the battery section of the settings shows that there really isn't anything standing out as far as battery usage.

Are there any good apps that monitor that sort of thing that could pinpoint where the drain is coming from?

I am running stock android, I already have 2 Gmail accounts, when I switch between them in the photos app and take a picture the picture is being backed up to both accounts. I only want it to back up to the account that I have switched to.

Android Wear app hits 10 million downloads on the Play Store

Android Wear has been out for several years now, though it can't be considered a commercial success. After all that time, the companion app has just reached 10 million downloads on the Google Play Store. That being said, that figure doesn't allow us to draw any conclusions about sales figures.

Not a great number. No wonder Google has abandoned it.

Oh man the Razer phone is hot garbage. Recently went on a trip to Vegas and the Razer phone pictures were horrible glitchy garbage. I brought my Xperia xz premium and it was OK, but still not decent enough. Luckily I brought my gh5 mirrorless camera but it was so cumbersome. I should have brought my iPhone or it's time to get an Android with a decent camera. Are LG V30 ok?

Mate 10 is fine. I hear performance is a bit buggy though with emui 8 at launch. not sure if thats fixed.

Anyone own a Pixelbook?
Been thinking about it. maybe once android support is better in a year or so.

Since idc about cameras much I wonder if the Razer would be the phone for me. I was waiting out for the next Galaxy, but it might be just what I am looking for. Decisions, decisions.

Why don't you know if you'll keep it? Did you pay full price for it? Thoughts? I kind of want one but it seems... Not worth the price.
I was thinking of getting a Samsung Pro. However, I can wait until the summer to see if they are going release a 2nd gen edition. The Pixelbook is way too overpriced for me.

My current Chromebook has been great for me. Yet, when it got updated for Android apps, I have noticed my battery dies much quicker.

Mostly because I may need a more suitable backup machine for work and like others will say, the price.

I paid full price for it and I think for entertainment purposes it's great especially with the Android apps as I've only had problems with games not resizing properly. I also like the aspect ratio for tablet mode as they don't sell the Samsung ones where I live.
If it was in the $700 region then I think I'd definitely keep it as the hardware is very nice. If only they let you officially dual boot another OS....I know you can use linux via crouton but it seems to have its quirks.

I don't know if it's just me, but does Swifkey work like absolute trash on this site? I'm back using Gboard for now. I went back to using it the last few months and had more mixed results than I previously recall.

Yeah it's like on and off. Felt like it was working ok after the precious previous update but it's broken again.

Oh boy... If the timing on this ends up being accurate

One Plus 6 with SD 845 + 8GB would be glorious. If they bumped up the screen res too, that would have to be an instabuy

Then we'll also have Sony bringing out the hotness, but then we'll probably be let down by the camera compared to Apple, Samsung, and Google... Again.
Gonna be a sacrifice in speed though. Unless they are doing this so they can get like 95% screen to body ratio . Don't really see the point. The current face unlock + fingerprint sensor combo works.

Not just you.

Specifically, pretty much all abbreviations are broken. It'll cut off the letter after the apostrophe AND only put the first letter of the next word you type.

I've basically adjusted to constantly manually fixing my. Posts before I post them, but maybe I should try gboard or something else.

Gboard is working smoothly so far. Feels a little better than a I remember, with still a few quirks that lead me back to SwiftKey.
Agreed, I don't know when it got the functionality (or if it's always had it), but I don't remember being able to customize the long press duration on Gboard in the past. That's one of the main things I liked about Swiftkey, so Gboard having it makes it easier to transition to than I thought it'd be.

The way I use Samsung Pay, I have it set on my lock screen to flip up the card, which automatically turns on NFC or whatever. Then I receive the haptic pulse feedback and just hold the phone to terminal hold my finger print on the reader. I really like how straightforward it is. With the fingerprint sensor on the back and Android Pay, I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy that enire process.

I've never owned a phone with a sensor on the back.

Swiftkey was cool for the novelty of swipe typing. But ever since Google started doing that is been bye bye Swiftkey. Just not a great experience. GBoard on all my devices, Apple included, just works flawlessly for me.

OnePlus making big moves, trying to stay ahead of Huawei and Xiaomi. This is good. OP devices hold their value so well that I can sell the previous one and buy the new one with minimal incremental cost.

swiftkey is still the only keyboard that does emails, which makes testing stuff for work much better.

Also it even handles @ handles too which is good for twitter or something which has the handle suggestion at the top of the screen which is a stretch.
