2.8 is a remaster of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (3DS game) plus a quick prologue to KHIII (similar to Ground Zeroes) and the Back Cover movie. It does have game content but 1.5 + 2.5 has the rest of the games. The way to go would be play 1.5 + 2.5 and then 2.8.

Yeah it seems 2.8 is for those who want to go deep down the rabbit hole, no pun intended. GET IT?! Alice's in Wonderland is in Kingdom Hearts bwhahaha Im so funny! No im not.

Hmmmm, well I can just YouTube the 2.8 then, as I've said I haven't played the other games.
Are the 6 games listed in chronological order in the menus, or is there even an order of sequence to the series? Or is it like Final Fantasy?

Yeah 1.5 + 2.5 is essential first.
2.8 is essential for the whole story.
... being said, Dream Drop Distance I consider to be a bad game to be honest. Balance is broken, among other issues.

358/2 Days is best after KHII, but otherwise the order in the menu is how it goes. Re:Coded is complete filler though.

So it's basically two main games, then there's an expansion for each with Chain of Memories and Birth by Sleep? And 358/2 is to be played after the second game, while Re:Coded is filler for the first game?
Christ, whoever came with this nomenclature was high on some serious shit at the time.

Man oh man haha. There's pretty much no real eloquent way to explain this.

Okay so:

KH1 and KH2 are the numbered games, yes.
Chain of Memories and Birth by Sleep are also main games. Chain of Memories bridges 1 and 2 but has a really unconventional playstyle involving cards. You can just youtube it if the gameplay doesn't click.
Birth By Sleep is basically KH 0. Prequel to the whole series.

Those are the four "main attractions" of the collection.

After that:

358/2 Days is a cutscene movie based on one of the DS games. It's enjoyable and fleshes some things out but it's not as essential as the others.

Re: Coded starts out as a weird re-enactment of KH1 before turning into its own weird thing. It's completely filler.

I don't think you should worry too much about it at all because you probably won't understand most of what's going on any way.

No this is perfectly eloquent, it's a lot clearer now, thanks. The card game sounds meh, I think I'll just play 1 and 2 for now, and if I want more before 3 comes out I'll try the rest.

Haha like MGS V probably, I'm only now dipping my toes into Japanese games. I've got Killer is Dead on Xbox back compat which is pretty enjoyable, FF XV waiting on the shelf and there's some hype for the 7 Remaster but it's a completely new series to me as well, I've only got about half way through MGS V, started Catherine, and want to try Nier Automata sometime.
The more "westernized" Japanese genre sure is interesting.

I like JRPGs and I like Disney so I keep thinking of getting into Kingdom Hearts and then noping out.
Damn, I'm really tempted to pick up South Park and Persona 5 on that kinda deal
If it helps talk you out of it, Persona 5 was $35 - $40 in multiple places on Black Friday and I can see it hitting that again.

Hey no problem! And yeah, playing just 1 and 2 and judging how you feel is the safest way to go from there.

Yeah, they can be intimidating at times, but it's all fun and games. MGSV is honestly one of the better games in the series to play without any context because it's so standalone and story-light you pretty much don't need much more than what's given to you. Ground Zeroes is pretty Peace Walker-dependent but Phantom Pain isn't the worst by itself.

I love Catherine. I wish Atlus would do more games like that. I love Persona too but a game from them with an adult cast that explores adult-relevant themes is pretty unusual for them and felt like a really interesting change of pace while still having their stamp on it.

I like JRPGs and I like Disney so I keep thinking of getting into Kingdom Hearts and then noping out.

Haha. Well, if it helps any, KH1 is by far the most Disney-heavy and you can pretty much just enjoy it as a standalone game. It's only afterward that the original elements and the rabbit holes that come with it ramp up. KH1 is basically like a Disney movie that stars original characters.

That's what I'm hoping for, but this is a solid back up plan to have. Also, I can't blame you for noping out of KH, I loved the 1st and 2nd ones, but the confusing/stupid plot is pretty off putting.

If you need it, here's the Boxing Day round-up - https://www.gamedealscanada.com/deals

Thanks! Damn, I had budgeted dropping $150 on Boxing Day because I skipped Black Friday but since the deals aren't as good I may just skip it all together and wait for the price drops to get that of BF. The only thing tempting is Bioshock Collection for 19.99. I guess I will see what else Amazon brings to the table, there has got to be more. Right?

Seems to me like all the big deals have moved to Black Friday. I had a suspicion last year but this year just confirmed it.
Most of the boxing sales are the same as black Friday but worse.

DEAL

Walmart has Prey on for 29.99 and dishonored 2 on for 29.99 currently.

YMMV.

I saw them in the Bowmanville Walmart on the rack outside of electronics. Seems to be a better price then anywhere else even with Boxing Day discounts.

Just finished watching Hitman's Bodyguard, hilarious and entertaining by the way, full of laughs and the action is great too, but I purchased it on iTunes because I'm giving my parents an Apple TV tomorrow and thought they'd like the movie but there's no subtitles apparently what the hell. All my library has subtitles, what the hell is up with this, Apple?

Right Click > Inspect Element the faded out add to cart button. Delete the word "disabled" from btn-disabled. It'll now be clickable so you can add to cart. Refresh in cart around the time it should be in stock and then immediately check out. This way you save one click/page load which should keep you one step ahead of the majority of people.
Trying this on BB now before sale goes live in 15 mins and is not working after I added to cart. The checkout page is broken.

Ordered Zelda Explorer Edition with free expansion pass. Not sure if this edition is supposed to come with the pass (possibly an error)?

How does the X900E stack up to other TV's in the same range like the Vizio series?

Ready to pull the trigger on this thing but want to make sure I have all of my bases covered.

The free expansion pass is the Boxing Day bonus. It doesn't usually come with that.

Yeah I know. I was saying that I was under the impression that the free DLC was only for the non explorer's edition.

If you get it for free with Explorer's Edition, the deal got sweeter!

Ready to pull the trigger on this thing but want to make sure I have all of my bases covered.
Basic takeaways:

The X900 is currently considered to be the best mid-range TV by rtings.

-Better picture quality in general, and better HDR capability (in regards to color gamut and brightness) than the Vizio P series.
-More input lag in SDR and less input lag in HDR when compared to the Vizio P series.
  • The x900 input lag remains around the same figure in and out of HDR (around 30-35ms)
  • Vizio P series adds input lag when in HDR going from 16ms to 42+ ms)
-No Dolby Vision support in the x900.

I have a Vizio P series in my room since the end of last year, and ordered an X900 for my family room about an hour ago.

Having played on the Vizio P Series in HDR myself, I consider the input lag of around 40ms or less to be a non-issue.

Best Buy has a camera lens on sale for 100 less than Henry's but they haven't had stock online in weeks and I doubt any other camera store will price match that price =/

It's Boxing Day. It always breaks. Best Buy also doesn't allow adding to cart or anything until the sale. I don't think it would work for Boxing Day. Though there isn't anything that should sell out immediately anyway?

when I bought the Snes Classic back in October, I tried the same script trick and I was able to go to the check out page. Perhaps they have caught on?

When does trade-in deals end for ebgames? Thinking of trading in my wii u and my games; bayonetta 1+2, pikmin 3, smash 4, nintendoland, Zelda BotW. I already have a switch but I wouldn't mind having another.

My issue is that I love the games I have on my wii u and I also have quite a few digital games(virtual console and digital games). I wish nintendo had an account system so I could transfer all my purchases over, sigh.

The Explorer Guide for Zelda is useless anyway. It's basically what would be an instruction manual a generation ago. It was a smart way for Nintendo to repackage the game while still selling it at full price. If you think you are getting a guide you will be disappointed.
