I revisited The Cool for the 10 year anniversary. It holds up. Lupe gets a lot of shit for being self-serious, but there're a lot of really fun moments on this album. Gold Watch has a nice bounce to it with Lupe nerding out all over the track. Gotta Eat is cheesy as fuck and that's exactly what I love about it. I can't say I think the album is as great now as it was when I first heard it, but I still fuck with it heavily.
People get easily spooked by accusations, but these dudes have next to nothing to be afraid of. Until very recently accusations were met with disbelief by the vast majority of the artist's family, friends, and fans. Even now most abusers won't face any prison time (I also don't think carceral punishment is the way to go, but there should be consequences). Neither Bill Cosby nor R. Kelly served any time. We saw the bruises Chris Brown left, but all he got was community service and his career wasn't severely harmed.
I can't say for certain if Nelly was guilty but the fact that his accuser decided not to press charges doesn't rob her of credibility. Police officers and lawyers typically don't take rape accusation seriously and often demean people who come forward. All that plus the fact that the accused is a wealthy celebrity would discourage lots of people from going through with the trial.

She is suing him. Again, people are looking at it that she wants the money and not justice. Not willing to press charges, but willing to go to court for bread..

You're equating prison with justice. I don't think they're the same. If she'd gone through with the criminal proceedings, he most likely would have been found not guilty. Statistically, that's how most criminal rape trials end regardless of the facts. If her story is true, then I think making Nelly pay her (for the trauma, therapy, and any long lasting physical injuries she might have suffered) is a much fairer sentence than imprisonment.

Saying how people are viewing the situation(Not my point of view). I have family in the force so I know the drill about the process and also how departments put rape in their priority list at the very bottom. But yes, if she is not lying. Get whatever you can get out of someone.
Thanks for clarifying. When other people ask "Why did she wait so long to speak up?" or "Why didn't she go to police?" I get the sense they have no idea how much effort it takes to report to the authorities in a short time frame.
