This game probably sold a bunch of bundles and was a common enough Christmas present. But on Christmas night almost 13000 were playing the first game according to swbstats. It's been at around 20000 peak daily for the first month of the second game's release.
I've owned the second game since release and still can't play all the heroes and villains I can play in the first game. I can't play the modes offline like I can in the first game. If people experience half the rubber banding, lag, and matchmaking delays I have during the first month, they won't be catching up unless they spend their entire week off playing this game day and night.
But until that changes to where most players will be able to play all the heroes in multiplayer in, say, no more than 10 hours investing in on-line playtime, I don't think they're going to stick around this environment that long.
That's true. I have yet to unlock a single hero or villain. I've been putting all of my earnings in to those pesky loot boxes. At some point, I'll have to save up, and get Vader.
And I hear you about the matchmaking. It's been my biggest grip. Well, that and the weird framerate stuttering, rubber-banding and awful load times between the lobby, and waiting to get in to a game.
I really hope we see some solid performance improvements with the next patch.
