Is there a point to getting likes or is it just for fun?
It kinda is for fun but the more likes you give out means you'll come across online structures more often. I'm sure you've had someone throw a like your way for a placed climbing anchor or ladder and be honest, it felt good, right? Kojima's trying to foster that feeling.

I got an ingame mail about a strange light near the incinerator. I've explored everywhere around it and don't see anything special - anyone know what the mail refers to?

It's those collectible chips. At the incinerator I think it's on the roof.

I thought it was some kinda secret. It's not.

Holyshit! I think that's my watchtower.
Is... is that my watchtower in the center? That'd be wild. I doubt it is, but it looks familiar.

lol Pretty sure just about everybody set up the tower there to search for crystals like they advise.

so nobody knows where to get the avatar set to install and gold items?

For the CE the codes were in the case? 21 items were listed and downloaded upon redeeming the code like normal.

I received a email too, mentioned it was above the isolation ward in Capitol Knot City and thought nothing of it. The email mentioned they believe it's Ka, or the soul of a recent departed hovering.

But what makes you so sure it refers to the chips and not something else?

Coz I've hung around trying to trigger things to happen and kept wishing it was like a secret boss or something.

Then I asked a couple other reviewers and they said the same thing that it's the memory chips.

Man did I really wish it was something else. I still do.

Took me 2 hours and 2 minutes to complete an order that had a time limit of 45 minutes. What a mess, my worst delivery ever. I really don't want to get into the specifics but just know that I crashed my Trike, decided to build a bridge so it doesn't happen again, realize I don't have enough materials at the Distro Center, got my shit stolen by MULEs, tried getting it back only to die, go back to the Distro Center and warp back to Lake Knot, get enough metal to build two bridges, get back to the Distro Center South of Lake Knot and fall into a river, fucking over my trike and the metal, pick all metal back up and make it to the Distro Center on foot and build the two bridges that give me good access to the Junk Dealer with a trike, rent a trike out from an online player and get to him. What a fucking game. That was genuinely frustrating but it felt good coming up with a new way to get to the Junk Dealer and now that those two bridges are there, it'll help other players but also myself if I ever need to make more deliveries to this guy.

Here's some parts of the journey in pictures:

I made up for this awful awful delivery with an S rank for the guy straight after, from BT territory no less.

Yep. I'm happy and loving this shit. Went in with virtually no expectations. This is an amazing experience. Only 2 chapters in so far.

Not for me and some on Twitter. The CE code, that was on top of the steelbook, which is supposed to give the avatars, didn't gave you avatars. This is all that came with it:

And once you activated this the second code in the steelbook is useless and not redeemable anymore because it only has timefall and the sunglasses, but you already have them through the CE code.

I'm surprised nobody else here was confused about this so far.

Played 4 hours and really love everything, the graphics and atmosphere are something. 1 question though: Is there a way to avoid the Mules ? I feel like I'm spotted the second I step foot in their area, even if I'm hidden.

Metacritic user scores are wild. I click on user profiles that are giving Death Stranding a 0 and they just have one game scored. What's wrong with people? Lol

I think it was mentioned they can detect cargo, that's why. Leave your stuff out of the area

Yeah I used the code in the steelbook right away and got all the avatars and the theme along with the above but I just got an email from Bestbuy that had a code with those exact same items but it won't work since I already redeemed the steelbook version.

I'm glad I did that one first lol. Kind of stupid system Sony has going on there.

Hmmm odd. I redeemed both codes to get my content, must of been lucky I guess. I also received codes in my email for the preorder bonus but I think it's the same gold content too. lol

Absolutely loving the game so far but I really dislike the LIKE system. It feels very immersion breaking and even story breaking to some extent.
Humanity is on the brink of extinction and we are supposed to give a shit about how many LIKES our ladder got? It's just stupid.
Not to mention we can give multiple LIKES as well, making each LIKE even more worthless than they already are.

This LIKE system feels way more natural and well implemented in Dark Souls, not once did I feel like ''Hmm this is trying a bit too hard to be social media''

Lol don't pay attention to metacritic user scores. They get bombarded if there is even a slight of controversy around a game. Like CoD: Modern Warfare's 3.2 user score with the Russia thing.

In this case it is the whole Kojima fans vs haters thing. Also something to do with some incident regarding Spanish media.

How long is Episode 2? I'm back at the big city you start at and Die-Hardman is telling me I'm about to make my biggest run yet, something about a lake, where I'll receive the second part of the job. Am I almost there? I did get the bike, and that thing helps A LOT.

That is the final delivery for episode 2.

I haven't been on the site in years. I actually used to trust the user scores. Sad to see the site degrade like this.

Inital impression is that traversal and encumbrance gameplay is way more fun than I'd ever expect, but anything regarding stealth is extremely unfun. And usually i love stealth and hate encumbrance.

I just find it frustrating to not be able to see the things i'm trying to hide from. I know that's the point, but it's just not fun as a gameplay mechanic.

I was very, very unsure about this game after reading the reviews and seeing a little of the latest gameplay footage. This is not a game that is communicated well via gameplay videos and now that's even more apparent...

I woke up today and my first thought was "DS release day", and the next thing I know I'm on the train to my local retailer. Now, I'm signing off after 12 hours or so of constant play time... that's the first time a new game has made me do that for years.

I'm somewhere in Episode 3. I'm taking my time building things and completing extra deliveries. And from the first minute to the 12th hour this game has been absolutely incredible. I wouldn't be able to describe how the gameplay keeps me entertained without it sounding like I was taking the piss, but it has. I wouldn't be able to explain how satisfying it is to select a loadout, plan a route, and execute a perfect delivery without sounding a little insane. I mean, how can a game that is mostly comprised of fetch quests and balancing your load be this damn engaging?

The social aspects are absolutely brilliant, too. Seeing people like your buildings and knowing they helped other players, and finding clues and equipment that others have left makes the world feel more alive than most open world games I've played even though I never see another soul roaming around.

The story and world building are the exact kind of bat-shit Kojima I sorely wanted after MGSV left both lacking, so far at least.

Kojima might not have created a new genre of video game, but he might just have created another incredible video game experience.

I need to sleep now, but I don't want to.
Yup...

You can create them later on in episode 3. But I assume you are referring to episode 2? Might be screwed there if it got destroyed.

Maybe try resting and then reloading the game at the private room in the distribution center where the bike was introduced? Might respawn.

20 hours in and I'm still not done with Chapter 3 wtf, how long does this go for?

I'm currently at the bit where you're at the Chiral Artist Studio and the Junk Dealer's daughter pops out, am I nearing the end of this Chapter?

Yea I assumed you can make your own later. Thought I could find one lying around though.

I'm 1 mission from chapter 3. Just taking my time and doing extra deliveries

Dude what the fuck...I hadn't looked at the clock and I ended up playing from 8pm to now, 3AM fucking straight through.

I don't like walking sims, I don't like cutscenes, I'm Mr. Gameplay First and on paper this game sounds like my arch nemesis. Nope, it's somehow incredibly addictive and I'm not even sure why or how? It's literally Hiking Fetch Quest Simulator and somehow I couldn't put the controller down for another HOUR after realizing in horror that I'd been glued to the couch for six straight hours.

Just one more lost cargo delivery, kick just one more MULE's ass...

If I was you I would just crack on to chapter 3. You can't miss stuff and you get some cool gear in chapter 3 to make stuff easier.

Have you tried the following?
  1. Highlight the game's tile in the PS home screen
  2. Press down to bring up its fancy menus
  3. Go all the way down to the "additional contents / themes / avatars" thingy at the bottom left corner
I was able to find the Deluxe Edition extras there.

I know where I went wrong now. I bought standard edition and thought the stuff listed comes with it. It clearly says on the bottom that it does not. Oh well... hope they release the avatars on the store someday.

Man, I can't wait until I get the exoskeleton. Carrying 70kg & above of cargo is a challenge. Prepping for a trip is kinda fun, though.
