Nah. He was killed because Whedon needed someone to die in that act and Taylor-Johnson wouldn't take the role unless his character was a one and done. Quicksilver's power set is only as strong as it is in the film because he was going to die, otherwise he would have been nerfed just as Wanda was nerfed. Because on paper her abilities are too strong as well. Hell, half the MCU roster's powerset is too strong and has been nerfed.

Do you have a source?

The exact opposite, actually.

Could've sworn it was said in one of the Post-AoU interviews that Whedon had but apparently I'm only half right. Whedon needed someone to die in that act. I was wrong that it was Taylor-Johnson that wanted it.

"I am trying to remember the 'why' of [Quicksilver's death]. I think, ultimately, of Seven Samurai. The old guys make it through; it's the young guys that tend to miss the mark. I also wasn't going to kill the only other woman in the series! (Laughs) But I knew right away that this was what I wanted to do. I know I've got this reputation, and some people were going to say, 'There he goes, again with the killing!' But I play on that reputation with Hawkeye. And you can't control the publicity.....

...But it felt very disingenuous for me, especially the second time around, to make what I refer to as 'a war movie' and say that there is no price and everybody walks away. In this movie, we're saying, 'Prove to me that you guys are heroes.' And he's the guy that does it.....

I knew it would be resonant, and make everything else work better and matter more."

Aaron Taylor-Johnson wouldn't have the clout to make such a demand in the first place. They'd just get someone else willing to sign on for multiple films and their fate in the script would be secondary.

I had thought of it less as an actor swinging their weight around and more "The Director really wanted this specific actor for the role."

It's a good poster, but they could have swapped out Gamora & Widow for heavy hitters Thor and Strange. But of course, it would be an all-male lineup which would be boring visually. Kind of an indictment against Marvel for being so slow in bringing a female superhero movie to the screen. Hopefully Captain Marvel will blow us away. Actually, I can't remember the last time I had zero interest in an upcoming Marvel movie, probably Thor 2?

I think Gamora makes perfect sense considering her relationship with the primary villain.

I actually preferred QS from AoU to the one in the X-Men films. His 2 scenes were somewhat cool but that was pretty much it and if that version was in AoU then he would have solo'd the Avengers and Ultron.

He deserves beeing the star in the big Post Creditscene of Avengers 4.
Make it a real life scene, where he talks about creating all these characters and stuff

Gurira also spoke about her role as one of Wakanda's protectors."It's her job to take care of it, and she takes that job seriously," said Gurira. "It's a world that is utterly plausible and tangible and yet a little larger than life at the same time."

Avengers: Infinity War Thor LEGO figure:

thorfbrd4.jpg

As we know, Thor lost his Mjolnir in Thor: Ragnarok, but spoiler leaks have since revealed he'll get a new weapon in Infinity War. Now a new LEGO (I know, Iron Man 3 Lego set etc.) set for Infinity War is meant to represent the Thor storyline which sees him team up with Groot and Rocket.

As we previously learned:

  • After being defeated by Thanos as he takes the Space Infinity Stone from Loki's Tesseract, Thor tumbles through space, eventually smacking into the Guardians of the Galaxy's ship.
  • Thor and at least some of the Guardians (Rocket and Groot) travel to the realm of Nidavellir, home of the dwarf blacksmiths, where Mjolnir was created.
  • After encountering some resistance, Thor and Co. must power and use the "space forge" to create a new weapon for Thor - Jarnbjorn, the mythic axe.

This makes sense since we see him forge a new weapon in the Infinity War trailer.

In an old 4chan leak it was said that
Teen Groot gives his wood to make the handle
... looking at this pic, it seems legit ?

I'm pretty sure the Thor art is from that Russian standee that were set up before the release of Thor: Ragnarok, so they tried to hide the fact.

I'm slowly getting excited about Ant-Man and the Wasp. That trailer can't come soon enough. That new Ant-Man suit is also one of the best in the MCU.

Bought Homecoming on 4K. Watching it for the first time since the theater and it's my favorite MCU and spider-man movie. It has it's flaws, but it's everything I wanted in a spidey movie.

So how does Tina Minoru from The Runaways fit into the MCU? It just doesn't make sense to me - in Doc Strange she was shown as one of the masters of the mystic arts who gathered to stop Kaecillius, Staff of One and all. In Runaways, the same actor portrays the same character with the same staff, but the staff get's inherited by Nico. So Strange must have happened before the events of Runaways.
Now what? Tina has been 'evil' all this time, and she never was in any way established as some big shot heroic, quite the opposite. Also she explains the staff with "science", which of course might be a ruse. I'm confused.

What? They're not the same actor.

You just have to accept that the the Doctor Strange cameo is something completely different from Runaways.

Until/unless the Feige/Perlmutter split is revolved, Marvel Television's output is not in the same universe as the films, for all intents and purposes. Just ignore the "it's all connected" PR line that Loeb et al. still occasionally spout.

I mean there are clear ties in most of them, but there's no reason to sweat it wondering what ways they're connected in details. Just assume they're in worlds where The Avengers exist and most of the events of the films have happened.

But with Runaways there's clearly no attempt to fit it into the MCU world as we know it and that's fine. Show doesn't need it.
