Taking my sweet time getting started on this game. Just hit Chapter 3. I like it, but the combat and blade switching stuff feels pretty arbitrary at the moment. I suspect once I open more stuff up things will feel 'right".
A lot of the game's combat mechanics are locked behind chapter requirements. You'll literally be unlocking stuff right up until the final fight.Taking my sweet time getting started on this game. Can you get the blade transfer items easily? If not, should I release them and try to pull them on the person I want them assigned to?
What about ones that came from special cores? Would I be able to pull them from the normal cores if I release them or am I stuck?
Thanks.
Well Brighid should have at least flame mastery two at that point, and Roc should have Wind Mastery. So long as you have one fire common and one wind common, you'll be fine. I seriously can't comprehend the outrage over that; they largely give you what you need for plot progression via story blades.UGH!! do i really need Flame Matery 3 and Wind Mastery 2 to get throuth this(chapter 7)this thing is a goddamn slog...Spirit Crucible Elpys
I'm not sure about the others, but every Gacha Blade (the random draw blades) comes with one Overdrive, so you can reassign it once (which is very nice of the devs considering who you pull is based on the character's Thought Cloud and not really who would actually be best for them).
Argh... This game is a nightmare for hoarders... I've maxed out my mercenary rank, released all my common blades with only elemental mastery field skills and I'm still out of slots for blades. All my remaining commons are either 3 stars and/or have elemental mastery + some other field skill. I still have quite a few rare blades to get, and I know I will never get them if I don't free up space by releasing my common blades, but I keep worrying that I'll need them in the future. Does anyone have any recommendations (aside from therapy)?
Wtf at the dragon thing you fight during the final poppi form quest.
Not hard but it has insane hp, took like 15 min to kill it since I got bored and just left the chars to autoattack while I went and did something else.
Don't forget to mention , if you fell into the hole , ennemies ( new ones ) will start to pop-up making the whole fight a giant mess !!I actually got it (chapter 7 boss) late last night. I switched from Tora-Nia-Zeke which kept losing, experimented with Rex-Nia-Tora which went nowhereso I switched to Tora-Nia-Morag which finally did it. Split his aggro instead of keeping all the pressure on Tora, who would inevitably buckle around the 1/3rd health left mark and the whole fight would go out of control. Morag couldn't quite keep up with the boss's damage output, but then when the primary tank would fall, aggro would switch to the other tank instead of having him go after Zeke or Nia right away. Tora's got an accessory that allows him to revive people to practically full health, so we could keep momentum even when Morag fell.(i've really had trouble getting Rex to much usefulness without Pyra, partially because i'm not really doing Merc missions so Roc's still on level 1 affinity and I'm not a fan of Wulfric's moveset, and his third blade, Gorg, is brand new to him).
It's weird, that fight should have gone terribly. Morag fell in that stupid hole the devs put there for some unfathomable reason, and since the boss was aggroing her, it was a job and a half to lead her out of the hole so that she'd lead him out of the hole, time when he was doing damage but we really weren't. Also failed to driver combo or blade combo him at all, and yet we won. Compared to times when i got multiple Smashes and an Orb on him and still lost.
Nothing should take 15 minutes to kill unless you're very underleveled. Are you using blade combos and chain attacks?
10-4 thanks. Good to hear about the leveling deal.Chips/weapons are single use, once you use it it's gone.
Aux cores can be unequipped.
And battles drag a little early on. Late in the game they can feel like they go too quick because you can't do what you want in the time that you have. Level is also less substantial than XB1. You are punished a lot less for being lower level than enemies.
did you release it?I also thought people said you got Overdrive Protocols for completing a 4 star affinity chart.. clearly THAT was wrong..
I JUST read that... lol.. nm.
I just beat this chapter and I'm actually laughing at how OP Pyra's new abilities seem.
What element is it when when not using specials?
Yeah, you're losing a few thousand HP points but she seems super good to me, Have I got the right setup?
I know Tora has a pretty awesome third blade but I'm not sure I can be bothered to mess around to get her.
That's a Xenoblade tradition, and in my opinion good design. High-level enemies are placed in low-level places to shape how you move through the world. Sometimes they're put in chokepoints, pressuring you to run, creating an adrenaline rush. Other times they're out in the open but they force you to take detours or find creative ways around them. They're part of the pathfinding element. This was especially well-done in XCX, really adding to that game's survival sensibility.I was doing a dive and this boy showed up with the treasure I got. It's like level 81 and I was level 10 at the time. What the fudge!?
So, 75 hours in I decided it's time for a change.
I've toyed with all the party members, less so Zeke as he kind of fulfils the Red role for me, but I finally made the conscious decision to swap out Tora for Morag... and woah, I'm chuffed.
With the right accessories and blades (her two story blades and Perceval) she rarely ever gets hit and hits much harder than Tora.

Yeah but I fished this guy out while doing a salvage dive. That's a Xenoblade tradition, and in my opinion good design. Then runnnnnn!!
What do you mean by this? That's not true. Overdrives are only from chests, maxing a driver's affinity chart, and releasing 4-crown blades with maxed affinity charts.
Then why do i see overdrive as an option for some blades but not for others? Or is it just that i happen to have enough of them to make the three moves i've needed to make floating around my inventory somewhere?
If you see Overdrive as an option it's because you have some in your inventory. A few blades are tied to specific people and can't be transferred, so that's probably why you're not seeing the option on all of them.
Why are you level grinding? You're way overleveled already. Just get on with the story! Can anyone recommend a good spot to farm from level 40+? I've been scouring around Gormott Upper Right - Lyta Oasis and killing the 2-3 agile foxes but it's taking too long.
I haven't got to Mor Ardain yet.

I was overleveled for that point in the story when I was in my mid 30s. You'll breeze along the main story for a quite a while. Not sure why, just want to try and get to level 50 beforehand! Maybe I'll just continue with the story then...
At that rate, you'll hit the level cap by the time the story kicks into high gear. Not sure why, just want to try and get to level 50 beforehand! Maybe I'll just continue with the story then...
I feel like Mor Ardain and Tantal have excuses as well...One thing XCX did that XC2 doesn't that I liked was put lower level enemies into endgame locales - you could go to Cauldros and find some enemies in the single digits. It helped make the areas feel more natural, in that they were actual environments with diverse fauna as opposed to just fightpits bound to player progression. Having big dudes in Gormott amongst the guys you can handle is great, but you lose the effect if you don't the opposite later.
obviously this applies more to, like, Tantal and such - World Tree and Land of Morytha have good excuses
