Killing Tess off in between scenes...good lord.

I thought she was just going to be chained up or something but then they were like "Nope she's totally dead."

This show's great.

Didn't see this posted already but Clark Gregg talks briefly about directing the episode.

I'd think one of them will be dying in episode 100. I mean, it did say fans of the show would be destroyed, not elated.
What if it is both? Fitz dies immediately after they get married, proving that Fitz was right about the universe not wanting them to be together. That seems like an AoS thing to do. Then they can find out some obscure cosmic entity really was fucking with them the whole time and was trying to keep Fitz and Simmons apart this whole time.

What really blows me away about this show is that in the first season I was not at all into anything Fitz or Simmons. They were just token nerd characters and had the charisma of paint drying on a wall. Yet slowly but surely, they've become the best characters of the group and I look forward to seeing them more than I do anyone else.

But for the love of god please don't break my heart here. I still haven't recovered from Wesley-Fred.

If Fitz and/or Simmons die I will explode in a ball of rage. If my beautiful science babies don't get a happy ending I will just die :(

Yeah, in season one I remember telling my friends about the show when they asked if it was any good and while explaining the characters all I could say for Fitz and Simmons was their entire characters were "very British nerds".

Newest episode was amazing though. Fitz is MVP. It's amazing this is the same character as episode 1. And it's even more amazing that his development has been fleshed out and is totally believable.

No lies, AOS probably has the best character development of any show ever.

Best thing is that as you said, their journey and development has all been natural and believable and because of that it has so much more of an impact.

There's nothing quite like a casual murder spree to get the wedding juices flowing. Either that or he stunned them (I hope this, otherwise Fitz has become quite the psychopath).

1) It just doesn't feel earned.

2) I'm one of those people that thought it cheapened their relationship to put them in a relationship.

3) Fitz being creepy AF the first season about it.

Fitz drowned himself, jumped through a hole in space, and froze himself alive for 80 years to be with this woman, and a marriage proposal isn't earned?

I can tell you've thought about this a lot.

Finally caught up, I didn't expect both the Inhuman dude (David?) AND Tess to go down like that. I for sure thought one of them was going to survive all this...but this is AOS what was I thinking?!

I wonder what the hell they're going to do now since crap has hit the fan. Be on the run for the next couple episodes before they find a way back? Although Fitz being a BA really made this episode great.

Can't understand the complaints of this arc being boring. This has been great so far!

Fantastic episode.

Fitz and Simmons are easily my favourite relationship in the various series I watch.

It's a bit confusing as I believe Loeb has said the first pod this season would be 10 episodes. This makes sense, as there are 4 episodes left before the show goes away for a month due to the Winter Olympics.

It then comes back for episode 11 and then episode 12, the 100th, is a week after that on March 9.

But the photos from the 100th episode party look like they're still taking place on the space station. And Loeb hinted that the 100th episode would be when they return from space.

And now their recent "Happy New Year" video looks to be back on the normal set (and with Deke) so I'm curious to see what their plans are.

Man, I don't know how to feel about Tess. I figured if they were gonna invoke the whole "back through the past" cliche with a newer character in tow, it was gonna be her.

Fitz and Simmons together again! I knew from the drop that Fitz's whole proposal scene at the buffet was gonna fall on deaf ears. After five seasons of their relationship, you know what's to be expected opening with a scene like that. The last five minutes though, whew.

Every time they pulled away from Quake, the blue man group and the lovebirds, I found myself drifting away mentally from the show. It's not that I find this arc to be boring, just that the pacing seems really uneven at times. I'm also rooting for the roaches.

Anyways, SHIELD went into its final commercial break last night and my station decided to aired a shit ton of local ads, going over time and cutting off the "stinger" and most of the preview. Anyone out there feel like giving me a rundown of what happened in spoiler tags or something? Literally the first time this has happened in the five years I've been watching this show, and something of a surprise considering the local CBS affiliate is usually the guilty party of clogging the airwaves with their incessant self promotion, instead of ABC.

There was a pretty blatant shift of direction in how they were handling the Fitz/Simmons relationship from S2 to S3, with S3 being the "literally everyone is going to be in a romantic relationship and get their SO killed off" season.

I'm one of those who really didn't like that they forced them back together, because it felt like for two seasons they were actually going to tell the way more difficult and less wish-fulfillment story of "Fitz learns to get over his crush and respect her as a friend."

Fitz tapping into that darkness we saw. I said goddamn.

Also May still tops. Bum leg, beat up, and still manages to land a hit.
After Lash was wasted in Season 3 I didn't expect them to use Flint
Yeah I'm still upset about how they did Lash. Doing Flint pretty well though. And this show already has had its share of deep pulls.
So Flint could potentially rebuild the Earth with his powers? Hmmmm.
I'm hoping that they bring him back to the past. It would play into his character in the comics that heavily leans on him feeling out of place and without purpose. That in turn plays into the whole "Inhumans are empty inside" thing from S3 (which was lame but whatevs it happened).

There is some cool shit that could be done with him.

Yea I have never really liked the Fitz/Simmons relationship either though admittedly I'm always disappointed when good platonic male/female relationships turn into romantic ones like Mulder and Scully or Holmes and Watson in Elementary.

I mean, blame Jemma for eventually reciprocating when all's said and done. And without being pressed by him no less.

Kiblar isn't ascribing the shift to Fitz, someone who isn't real, but rather the writers.

I know lol, I'm saying that the lead-up to their relationship was handled well, took care of the one thing I didn't like about Fitz.

Didn't get the bored posts before Fitz showed up, definitely don't get them now.
This I'm enjoying this arc a lot.

Eh, I don't think it was ever a shift. They were Jed and Maurissa's stand ins from the very beginning. They said as much long before the romantic plot line. It's not that there was ever a shift. End of S2 and S3 was a quickening of pace not a change of direction.

Jesus. After watching a few episodes I decided to wait for this story to end so I could watch it in one go, but I might as well skip it at this point. I seriously don't feel like this setup warranted this many episodes. Hopefully they go back to the past for the next pod and the show ends in present Earth.

my only problem is that I feel like there hasn't been any space in a while. I know there are budgetary constraints but I am getting sick of these same few corridors

Honestly I never dug the Fitz/Simmons pairing either. Even now we have these long "love that surpasses the universe" speeches and it's like, wake me up when they're done. It all feels so cliche, been there done that. Props to Ian and Elizabeth for selling it, though.

Overall kind of a "down" episode after the high-octane thrill ride of Fitz solo. Not sure where they're going with Flint, but that half wasn't so great here. But all of the dinner party stuff was good, and the fight club. Particularly liked Jemma/Daisy chatting - there was some real natural chemistry that shone through.

Sucked that Tess got murdered and hanged off screen, though. And it didn't even feel like that big a deal. I liked her.

Tess' death kinda reminded me of
Derek Reese's death in Sarah Connor Chronicles. It just happened, was not drawn out. No big fanfair. You just see it deal with it, and move on. That death was shown on screen though, and Reese was a bigger character in that show at the time.

Death's like these make the world the character's are in feel more dangerous, and I think SHIELD needed something like that this season.

I have a feeling if it were renewed we would have seen him brought back.
