-Man, what a baller episode. I'm not really loving this arc as much as last season's, but it's still good.
-Poor Ben and poor Tess... they deserved better :(
-Mack with the best lines ("what the hell kind of future is this?"; "whoa, dial it back, Escobar")
-Space Rogue Fitz is fucking amazing. Loved the Star Wars-ish kiss and marriage proposal at the end. I hope nothing bad happens to them, PLEASE ;_;
-Howard Hamlin IN SPACE!
-Enoch is great, I hope he sticks around. I like his deadpan delivery.
-Bear McCreary's theme for Flint was beautiful!

Quick theory: while Tess is dead, the crew will meet a relative of her, played by the same actress, once they return to the present time.

And I could see Deke forming a bond with her relative as well.

Bear kills it on this show. He manages to create these themes for characters that aren't major yet still end up standing out during an episode.

He did this in the season 3 episode that introduced Robin and her dad, the one who could see someone's future when touching them. Bear made a theme for him that showed up at the beginning and I believe end of the episode and it was beautiful. I don't believe it ever showed up again until a faint version of it appeared in the Fitz/Hunter episode that brought Robin back.

I love stuff like that. His score is something special.

Don't worry Deke will sacrifice himself to save them, just so people have a good opinion of his garbage character

Yep! I believe there was a very faint version of that when Fitz found Robin in the park two episodes ago.

I really need them to release a second soundtrack for this show. They have one that mainly seems to be tracks from the first season. Fans have tried their best to get the music on YouTube, like in this video, but it's not very listenable at certain points.

Not having high quality versions of these is simply criminal.

I hate Daisy's theme. It was perfect for her transformation but sounds too melodramatic in every other situation it's used in no matter what they do to alter it.

If either of them die I'm going to be beyond crushed... I am way too invested in all these characters now.

Deke's likely going back to the past with them, he was helping with the ep100 cake like he was part of the main cast.

They'll probably kill off Jemma and have Fitz go insane and make an LMD Jemma or something.

Though, I do kinda hope if they're going to kill one, they kill off future Fitz and then go back in time and just wake up frozen Fitz since that would have all the drama of one getting killed off, but we the audience get to enjoy watching the characters.

But like seriously what are they going to do if they go back to the past with Fitz. There will be two of him.

Technically.... if they ever were to find him it would have happened before he got there, or else he would have never arrived in the first place... so as long as Fitz knows he never interacted with the people he went to the future to save before he went "the long way" to the future, then he will never go on to interact them as the current version of himself would have future knowledge of that event before the happens the SHIELD members who made the jump in the future.

Time travel is fun!

FItz vs Fitz fight to the death. Winner gets to marry Simmons.

The tragedy in ep 100 is that obviously Fitz wins by klilling Fitz, but Fitz is left with dain bramage and Simmons now has to take care of him. They never get to be happy together.

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect; but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.

Not sure I understand your logic here? Fitz no longer exists in the past, as he was put into cryo sleep for 70 something years to arrive at the same point in time as the rest of the team. If they go back in time with him, then they'll just be the one fitz. I could understand your theory if, lets say, they go back in time with him to a point in the past where Fitz had not met up with Enoch yet and had not been put into cryo sleep.

The team jumped through time, and physically aren't there. Fitz is physically asleep back in the past. Technically, they could all jump back, and there would be two Fitz's.

Huh? That's exactly the point he's making. Just because he was in cryo sleep doesn't mean he would no longer exist. He absolutely still exists in the past -- he was just sleeping for 70 years.

It doesn't matter if they go back to before Enoch or after. There will be two Fitz now, technically. One will just be asleep.

That's actually a good point and kind of hilarious. I wonder if the writers realized that. I didn't even think of it until now.

I understand that there are two Fitz, but when he went under, didn't Enoch move him to his ship that was in orbit around earth? So even if they all jump back in time, the sleeping fitz would be on a ship somewhere orbiting earth waiting to meet up with the team in 2091 (or whatever year they are in, I forgot), its not like he was asleep in the lighthouse for all those years, where if they need to, the team could go get him, should fitz die when he comes back to the past with them....

If Fitz is on a ship around Jupiter or something, then they'll signal the Guardians to pick him up. Cross over confirmed.

True. But then that opens up another quetion: if they return to the past and stop whatever caused the Earth to be destroyed (let's assume that's the plot of the second half of the season), then what happens to cryo-Fitz in 70 years? He wakes up and just... goes back to Earth and hangs out with 85-year-old Fitz?

Maybe in this universe 2 identical beings cannot exist so if you go back in time, you wake up in the body of the you in the past.

I was hoping they'd fine Vance Astro floating around in space with Cap's shield.

He's in Pod 2.

I wish.

Oh God, what if they forget about him and he wakes up alone in space in 70 years?

I assume it would be like BTTF. When they went back to 1955 to fix the future, when Marty burned the almanac, the entire timeline changed, and so George McFly wasn't killed and Doc Brown wasn't committed. On SHIELD, I am going to assume the same thing would happen. If they save the earth from being destroyed, it would alter the timeline, and sleeping fitz would disappear because that timeline no longer exists?

Time travel in all its forms is mind numbing, but since BTTF did it as accurate as possible, I always like to use those movies as examples when trying to wrap my head around shows using time travel as plot devices...

Future Fitz will die saving Jemma and the team, they all go back in time, and break out / wake up present Fitz before he goes into cryosleep.
that's what probably will happen. doesnt negate the weight of future fitz sacrifice, and even if "he's" still alive, can create further complications for Jemma, emotionally.

Hey, um... All this talk about Inhumans' failure leaving nothing on the Marvel slate for ABC this year lest SHIELD not get renewed had me thinking...

What happened to Damage Control?

I don't think Powerless factored that much into it. Remember that John Ridley Marvel project that was announced around the same time? ABC just sat on them. The only thing that seemed to go anywhere was Most Wanted and that didn't survive past a pilot. At this point, i don't think the network really cares if they have a Marvel show or not.

Don't know if they were added recently put the first four seasons are up on Amazon Prime in the UK, so I decided to re-watch it from the start to see how it holds up / if the first season was really as bad as we remember it being.

And it's not! The quality of the show certainly picks up later in the series, and I'm just about to finish season 2, but I think there's a lot of hyperbole thrown about when people say the show was awful before the HYDRA-has-been-in-SHIELD-all-along twist. I remember there being a lot of off-weeks when the show first came out, which made following along on a week-by-week basis at bit of a slog, especially when it came to the "villain of the week" episodes, or they throw in an Asgardian for a episode. But anyone who says to skip certain episodes or start at Turn Turn Turn etc are mad in my opinion. You'll miss out on so much character development and character beats that get picked up on in later episodes and seasons, especially smaller things that actually make these characters relatable and sympathetic.

Something I also didn't realise the first time round is how good the camera work has always been. Lots of long takes and the fight scenes aren't edited to shit. It's not the greatest cinematography to grace television but I feel like it could be a lot worse than it is. The VFX is also great and it's nice to revisit a time when this show had a larger budget.

Watching season 2 and seeing Bobbi and Hunter in action also makes me sad that we never got to see their spin-off pilot. I know a lot of people aren't huge fans of them here, but they had a good chemistry and banter with each other, and I wouldn't have minded seeing a smaller show with a smaller episode run following these two about, having a domestic while taking out targets. Would have preferred that over Inhumans.

Watching everyone slowly get tired of the extremely abnormal shit that happens to them on an almost daily basis is great too. Clark Gregg is a bit bland for the first two seasons but every now and then he'll have a small moment to shine, and eventually he just turns into Punished Coulson. May going from Pilot to reluctant field operative to being the Calvary, Ward with his twisted motivations and constant flip flopping, FitzSimmons being torn apart by the universe every hour, Mack being tired of SHIELD's shit from day one. And Daisy has gone from one character to another almost every season.

Basically I think this show has had its moments from day one, and it learned what worked and by focusing on the characters it became so much better. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but anyone who says skip the first season, you're crazy. I said before I hope this is the last season with a definitive ending, but I also wouldn't mind this continuing if it doesn't have to finish.
