There was 3 big things that happened that would cause panic in any financial market.

First Bitcoin was at the start of a down trend. Then Warren Buffet who can influence a market as big as 5.3 trillion, said its going to crash. Then the Korean news came out.

This happened back to back to back.

What about the real estate crash in the eighties or the .com crash in the nineties, or the 2008 financial crisis. Guess what happened? They all recovered.
We are due for one in the 2010's. But it will recover. Unless we go into a Great Depression like the 20's, but we'll just end up fighting wars to get economies back on track then.

As long as companies keep appearing with viable business strategies, crypto will always be there.

Relax people this stuff happens in financial markets

I've been mining vertcoin fairly consistently while in the background at work, and to get my eye in - I haven't mined since I mined a few BTC and a shed load of Dogecoin (ha) in about 2012. All of that got sold (the bitcoin when it was at about 4000 - should've held, alas), but I wanted to get in on a growing currency or two. Should I stick with VTC or try another?

Any Canadians in here?

If yes, any Canadians doing the daily trading? I'm at home all day, so I have lots of time to fuck around.

Mind you, I am 100% new to this. Just bought $100 of bitcoin on coinbase, and $100 of litecoin (started small to use just some money to play around with). I had to register on quadriga and verify there which apparently takes time, and thats the best place to actually cash out?

What is the next Canadian friendly exchange (is that what you call them?) that would allow me to buy and trade all these other coins I see on here?

Sorry if any of this sounds naive.
Quadrigacx seems to be the best when you want to cash out. Some people also use coinsquare. When you do eventually cash out you can just check to see which one has higher price of the coin you want to convert.

Be careful with day trading. CRA might consider it as a type of "business" you are running and there's all kind of tax implications on it so just be aware.

In terms of good exchanges to buy, I was using quadrigacx but they have since halted EFT transfers as well as Interac E transfers.

Only real solid method with them is Interac debit card. I can't do it because mine is a debit/visa combo. You need the debit card that has 13 digits.

I've since tried coinsquare and coinbase to buy my BTC/ETH to use for buying alt coins. Coinsquare charges something like 5% but they let you use debit/CC. Also when you are starting out they limit you to something like 100 bucks per transfer so that kind of sucks.

Coinbase charges 5% as well but let's you do 250/week. Also they charge insane fees to withdraw your coins and transfer to a crypto exchange... They have another site you can send it to called GDAX which then let's you transfer to your exchange for free, but the verification process to do that is offline right now, or at least it was couple hours ago.

Check the Withdraw-button at the site where your coins are now and check the Deposit-button at the site where your coins should go to. Take the address from the Deposit-site and enter it on the Withdraw-site.
Thanks. That was surprisingly easy

Xlm has been in the green for me for a while... But I got in real cheap. Something about the name really appealed to me.
It seems XLM is given away, any word on where ? Also, with the market cap, what is the advantage over ripple ?

Anywhere to get some good information about how to read the binance exchange ? After using bitstamp, there are a lot of more information here that makes it more difficult to read.

Yellow and purple curves in the graph, as well as the green and red blocks (which i presume means gains and losses?), and an easy way to see value over time as opposed to value compared to other coin..

Edit: Would also love a discord link. I'm on a few of the other ERA discords already.

BitStamp/Kraken for wire transfers, but takes time to be approved, as you can imagine.

Since everybody is shilling stuff, I threw money at Buzzcoin & DIME. Fight me.

Not sure if I should keep HODLing ADC. If it keeps dropping like this my profits will be all gone by late today.

Well, hodl doesn't mean holding for three weeks when it's constantly rising. Hodl means you keep it and keep it and keep it, through highs and especially through lows. And It's not like everything is booming right now and your coin is falling since 2 years. Everything is down at the moment. After such "depressions" the relief when everything goes back to "normal" often initiates deep greens with new ATHs.

With the Mercatox/Bitgrail/CoinsMarkets latest fiascos, I have decided to not leave any money on exchanges (yeah late I know).

How do you guys secure your PCs/funds?

ADC can only go up I think, seeing how their plans are developing. I doubt it won't go pretty high.

It's definitely a hodl for a long term.

I'm really curious about how high on the "wow"-scale this upcoming announcement by ADC is. If it's something like Bowers & Wilkins, that's cool, but I doubt it'll make waves in the wider community.

Still though, they seem to have a really good foundation already developed, and plans for where to take this going forward.

I think its technically better to mine ZClassic if you have Nvidia cards or Ethereum if you have AMD cards and then buy whatever crypto you want.

I really need some advice, I got some Photon with LTC on Cryptopia and they're closing the market. It's their only PHO market and no other exchange offers it so what are my options?

Edit: they did offer a PHO/DOGE market but are closing that too.

I gotcha. So is it a done deal that Coinsmarkets isn't coming back? I thought the last update on the situation was that the site was going to be back online today.
It looks like things are getting more stable. It is likely that they will enable trading first, and then allow people to withdraw from their wallets again. Currently it just looks like they removed the withdrawal functionality entirely.

Does Cryptopia have it on the BTC market?

I can smell XBY going up very soon..... hopefully.
Also my Portdolio has started recovering, but not yet at the level it was 3 days ago. Mainly thanks to XLM and FLASH.

Anyway, what is this GTO coin?

CoinsMarkets is probably fine. But in crypto, everything moves at the speed of light. 9 days feels like 9 years, and if people had BTC tied up in the site they probably missed out on some huge gains.

Woke up to an all green portfolio this morning. That was refreshing to see after yesterday's sea of red. I didn't doubt that they would recover, though.

Good to see ADA and XLM on a rise again. My pre-dip targets were already set tho, so they have a lot of ground to make up.

Nice to see I didn't miss another overnight roller coaster. I'd be content with a couple of boring days in my portfolio.

Kraken is still down? This is ridiculous (and very concerning as I have money on the way to them). Their updates have been awful as well.

https://status.kraken.com/history.rss

So annoyed as well as I've wanted cheap Lumens and VEN all week, and first VEN and now Lumens are WAY more expensive than they were previously. Definitely won't be using Kraken again after this, they've really screwed their users.
