At this point, I'd wait a month or so for 2017 models to go on closeout sales and get a 900E. If the input lag isn't low enough for you then look at the TCL P607.
Thanks guys!So you're not going to find a 4K HDR TV (that's worth buying) with more than 4 HDMI ports. Like you said, the Sony X900E 55" is a good match. It's bright enough for good HDR picture quality, it has local dimming for decent black levels for an LCD TV and isn't going to make you worry about burn-in ever and last but not least, its input lag is in the good range for gaming. We're not too far away from Sony's 2018 range of TVs coming out in the Spring which should mean that the X900E price will drop a bit. I think it's the TV you should get with your budget.

I've switched a lot of my purchases over to digital. Apple TV 4K is very impressive and the pricing on UHD discs are just not very good right now.
Anyone have experience with Vizio P-Series 65" TVs? Reviews seem to be quite positive, but I have no idea whether to spend the 1500 on that or wait for the Samsung QLED 9f or the Sony Bravia to go on sale. Oh, I am buying it for movies, not gaming.
Sweet how did you all get so early, mine doesn't get here until Tues from amazon and I preordered ages ago.
I usually pre order from best buy. They have been doing great lately and been delivering the week before. Happened with IT, Dunkirk, Kingsman, Bladerunner, and a few others. I have received them all the week prior to release Wednesday or ThursdaySweet how did you all get so early, mine doesn't get here until Tues from amazon and I preordered ages ago.
That Vizio set has DV and seems to be upgradeable to HDR10+, but waiting is probably a good idea. Thanks!
And I was speaking with someone about DV and HDR10+ yesterday as it relates to UHD blurays. Do current UHDs only have HDR and not DV, or is all this done at the television level (yes, this may be a weird question, but he seemed to state that movies would be re-released with DV.)
Honestly, it felt like a "wait for 2.1" year, although we haven't yet seen Samsung's offerings or Sony's ZD9 replacement.
The future is super bright (pun intended) with OLED, 10,000 nit LEDs and microLED stuff all being shown in one capacity or another.
Lastly, 4K projector prices have dropped like a rock and are looking really feasible now (think $2000 total for a FauxK projector and screen combo which would give you 120" of HDR (not real but close) 4K)
So it seems LG OLEDS just have a CPU upgrade for better picture control? Wonder if its worth waiting for or just jump in now.
For anyone on a budget, looks like Wal-Mart has the LG UP870 for $50

Can't personally vouch for quality but that's pretty low for a UHD player

It's called micro-dimming, and it's the scourge of modern TVs. My Samsung KS9000 does the same thing whenever the TV notices a dark scene. Just lowers the *fuck* out of the backlight to, I guess, make the blacks blacker or whatever. Can't be turned off.Hey guys, apologies if this has been answered before, but I've got an LG C7 question. I received my 55inch LG OLED today and I'm mostly REALLY happy with the purchase. However, I can't help noticing that it auto-dims when I'm web-browsing. I run my PC through it and on this very forum alone I can see it constantly changing between brightness autonomously despite me turning all of that stuff off. Anyone have any ideas?
Is the digital code 4k with hdr? Does the disc itself have Dolby vision?
What are everyone's thoughts on the Xbox One S as a 4K Blu Ray player? I don't have one yet and the One S is constantly on sale and seems like the cheapest one to buy. I don't want one for gaming though, already got a PC and PS4.
What are the chances of The Last Jedi 4K Blu Ray having a digital iTunes code?

Ugh, that's so annoying, but thanks for explaining. It's something I can totally live with film and games-wise as I don't even notice it but, as I said, I also use my PC through my TV and it's so annoying when forum browsing or using Twitter.
It's making me consider going back to a PC desk setup for that stuff now, which is obviously further expense *grumble*.
I had completely missed the fact that the 2018 LG OLEDs now have black-frame insertion. Will be interesting to see how well it's implemented.
Micro-dimming? On an OLED?
I think what's happening is your ABL is kicking in. You can get around it by lowering your panel's brightness to like 30 or whatever the threshold is on the 2017 models.
If I'm not mistaken, what's happening is the white background of the web page is too bright so the TV dims the picture. I've not heard of micro-dimming on anything other than a Samsung TV.
Currently, for the Sony 55' 900e, it is at an even $1000. A while back ago, I posted the question to wait for grab this TV and the patience has paid off. I wanted to make sure that in terms of the gaming TV if this will be a good one to grab or if I should look into something else. I'm sure it is but never hurts to get that confirmation from fellow gamers. ^__^
I'm on a dillema ERA. I need your help. I can either get the Sony XBR75900E (75' 900e) for $2498 or a Oled LG C7 65' for $2350. Main use would be movies and gaming. I'm kinda leaning to the Oled, but man, 75' is nice too. I'm tired of having grayish blacks, blooming and etc, however people swear by the 900e's.... Which would you choose money not being an issue?
Blooming and grayish blacks are still an issue on the 900E so it sounds like you should join the OLED club. Personally, the only LCD I'd even consider at this point is the Z9 and it's eventual successor.

I see, I keep reading reviews where they say it has "inky blacks" but I guess they haven't seen an Oled.
How do the current OLEDs handle native 24fps material? My Kuro plasma refreshes at 72hz so it just duplicates each frame three times for perfect playback of that material. I'd hate to have to go back to 3:2 pulldown once I get a 4k OLED.
If you're tired of blooming and not necessarily the best blacks, go OLED. The X900E and C7 are in different brackets per se. The size is great but 65" OLED would be good to have too. Keep in mind the 2018 Sony are coming too, and this time the X900F will go upto 85" with better blacks and better processing whereas the OLED are pretty much the same. Go for the C7.
It does have very inky blacks, they are very deep especially for an LCD/LED. But an OLED has infinite blacks so it still is really no comparison. The Z9D is where you start getting very very close to OLED level blacks but you'll never equal or surpass them due to the need for some form of lighting.
Thanks a lot. I'm ordering the C7. Whish they had it in 75" lol.
