Was playing this tonight with a friend in a bit of a ramp up to 2's release, and it occurred to us how even though it's probably terrible from a design/reward perspective I'm glad 2 has SOMETHING that will still earn you progress when you lose a match horribly (credits towards loot boxes). I'd consider myself above average in the first game for sure but I'm not on that upper tier of player that does all of the crazy rolling/personal shield/cycler rifle shit, and at least once a night someone who is ridiculously good and doing all of that will totally destroy me in a lobby going 60-2 or whatever until I finally get fed up with it and quit. Happened tonight when we were playing, and my friend is not nearly as good as I am was just getting wrecked horribly. We were talking about it and agreed that sort of thing is still going to happen in BF2 because it's going to happen in any online competitive game, but at least in BF2 you'll still get something out of matches even if you're super terrible or you lose horribly. Whereas right now that's not really the case; I mean yes you get credits but anyone who's put in any amount of time is already at max level with everything unlocked. I mean sure you could correctly argue you should play for the love of the game, or the loot boxes should be 100% cosmetic or any number of other things, but giving players who lose SOMETHING to carry out of a terrible match I think will be a big help in keeping the game going longer with a bigger audience, at least potentially.
As an aside, have trophies/achievements really not leaked for this yet? Very surprised.
