Will tune in.

How you feeling about AE Laura, Count?
She's still really good. Her neutral game is obviously a bit nerfed due to st.MK being slower, so her counter hit confirms are a bit worse. Her damage is pretty much the same. New overhead buff is useful as well. Her st.LK is still good.
Count doing 700 damage with Laura off a c throw. Damage buffs on C throws are unnecessary with how much damage they do without scaling.
Laura didn't get a damage buff on her command throw but they should've buffed it tbh

Don't have to be nervous jumping into a fighter. Just pick and character you like and have fun. There are new single player options you can jump into and just enjoy yourself.

I don't know who to try and learn when this comes out. I read it's beneficial to newcomers to pick up Ryu or Ken first but I want to try and main Ibuki or Sakura.

Is there a SFV Era Discord? Would be cool to get some tips from people as I learn.
It doesn't matter who you pick, but if I had to pick one it'd be Necalli because he gives you a taste of a lot of things. DP, Zoning, Command Grab, Charge, easy v-trigger etc.
Is it a bad idea to pick up this game if I never played. I feel like I'll go 0-200 online
You have to start somewhere. What's better is that you're on a more even playing field with less fake accounts with the influx of more newcomers.

I have a couple questions, is it confirmed that there's absolutely zero difference between the vanilla SFV and Arcade Edition client? Are they both the same? Does the Story Mode for the Arcade Edition still need to be downloaded or is it now bundled within the client?

Don't know what people were expecting, this game seems to include a lot of content on arcade mode alone, I'm impressed that Capcom didn't pulled that marketing stunt of "The biggest and most important patch in Street Fighter history"

This pretty much confirms the disc only contains the original game file they shipped two years ago, right?

If that's the case I'm out. :/

The disc contains the AE update which is how we've been getting twitch streams of the new content and the new balance from people who've got the discs early. There's still a hefty day-one patch with additional stuff though. For a start Sakura and her stage isn't on the disc since they're part of Season 3.

We were all in that position at some point. If you jump right into online you will indeed lose intensely and frequently, but there's lots to do in the game besides play online as long as you find the prospect of actually learning to play exciting.

Fighting the computer is only going to get you so far in terms of really learning the ins and outs of competitive SF, but it's enough to practice controlling your character and maybe figuring out which characters you like most.

There will probably be other newcomers on Era that you can play against if you don't have any people who want to play with you locally. Once you understand movement and attacks you definitely should mess around with a human opponent in a low stakes setting.

It's still the same game, so I would have to guess so.

Your best bet for an entry ticket into fighters is this game or SC6 (Fantasy Strike's a good option as well for teaching the important stuff) . You will have to put in more work to improve than any other game you have played- but the reward if you are up to it is greater than any other game genre I have played.

You will have to go with an attitude that is open and flexible. I'm of the belief that your first six months are the most important to your fighting game development. Put in the work early (and the work is mental- decisionmaking is your most important task)

Is PC not getting an Arcade Edition people can buy? I only own the base game so it'd be nice to buy AE and get the characters+skins.

No, someone got it early and it was updated. There's probably still a day 1 patch to install though.

Disc has full AE v2.0 but the balance changes aren't final and you can't go online w it.
Thanks for the info. Still having a hard time comprehending how a fighting game could require 21 additional gigs.

Your game will be updated to AE. If you want the characters you'll buy the season passes 1 & 2 (likely to be discounted). The skins will be given to you if you buy the season 3 pass.

So Steams not going to update their listing tomorrow just to have a $39.99 version that comes with everything?

Kind of what I was depending on :/

One aspect that I'm still slightly confused about in AE is fight money - what is going to be the best way to get more offline?

Oh I guess that's better than nothing but sounds a bit worse than console players buying the AE version since I wasn't planning on getting the season 3 pass just yet. I was really hoping to get the premium skins that comes with the game in addition to the preorder ones.

Remember that there's an additional 1080p@60fps pre-rendered CG cutscene, a lot hi-res artworks and music tracks... 21gb is understandable

Did SFV ever receive a PS4 pro update? Not that it matters that much.

You're probably gonna lose a fair bit in the beginning as you get a feel for the game. But honestly I don't think it will be that hard to score some wins along the way.

Just play the story mode and play around with some of the character trials to get a sense of how it works.

Love watching this game but it's so hard to play. Might have to repurchase arcade edition cause I only have 20k fight money and no dlc characters. Hopefully between S1 and S2 I can find an easy character to stick with. Ryu is okay, and Nash seemed a bit too hard for me, can barely chain combos, just used normals

I thought I had all the trials done a few days ago but I missed Karin Vol.2 for some reason. Picture of me after an hour:
