We'll be reviewing it again based on the fact that it's a new release with a ton of new content. I'll be reviewing it on the basis of its single-player offerings. It's not "wanting clicks" but more like "that's sort of my job."

Puh, the later release of AE in europe is just for new players. You guys made me nervous for a second.

Will you be taking the new gameplay systems, namely V Trigger 2, and the renewed online play ( granted CFN 2.0 has been a thing for a year now, but I don't think (m)any reviews updated to take that into account) into account, or JUST the single player modes?

Matches are very laggy today. Wonder if it's because of the impending AE update.

Freaking fantastic OP, jett

Never thought I'd enjoy another Street Fighter in my lifetime but I'm glad I listened and jumped in during the holiday sale.

21 GB for AE? Criminy. Guess I'll be waiting a few days minimum for the full update to finish then.

Sitting at 960K FM, not sure I wanna grind out the remainder of the trials I didn't finish, but easy/normal survival is toast, one completed run on hard + extreme each, all stories done (including the extra on both difficulties) and a few weeklies are in the bag.

Feeling really fucking burned out right now, lol.

Just need to beat normal survival with Urien and then all I'd have left are some S2 trials that are likely too much for me like Karin, some 10s for a few chars.

New systems, yes. Stability of online play, yes. Detailed analysis about the new additions to each character, no. I'm not equipped for that level of analysis and my pub's audience is way more causal focused. They're more interested in if this edition is worth picking up for causal online/local play (is it stable, how long does it take to get into matches) and what makes AE different than the initial release.

This game offers a lot for 40 bucks. Good amount of offline content, revamped training mode etc.. Online you can have matches in all leagues, replays etc.. and if you want get really serious, there is an esports/fgc scene with a huge amount of money in.

To anyone who has purchased the SFII BGM DLC or the story BGM DLC? Do you like it? Is it good? Do you feel it was worth the FM? I think new music might make S3 (AE) a little more exciting, or maybe I'm wrong. What do you think?

The main thing that I like about these DLCs is the fact that in the menu you can then choose what you want on a per-mode and even per-character basis. I tend to have everything turned on but randomized, so for instance in a fight vs a Ryu there's a chance it'll be Ryu's SF5 theme, or his SF2 theme, the stage theme, or one of a few story mode tracks associated with Ryu. You can turn stuff on and off at a granular level, so if you despised a particular character theme or arrangement you could make it so you never hear that specific theme.

One thing I'm curious about is if the SF2 pack will be updated for Blanka and Sagat, if they'll patch those themes in for those two for people who own that pack already.

I think if you're playing a lot it's the sort of variety that can help keep you sane, honestly. Any SF3/4/Alpha music DLC would now be an instant purchase for me.

Cool, I think I might spend my FM on these.

So I have vanilla + S1 + S2 on Steam.
When AE upgrade hits, does it include any free costumes?

I was considering buying the Battle Pass set of costumes but I'm reading mixed reports online that they're included with AE.. (Confused!)

A higher metacritic score can't hurt the game, that's for sure. :p At least people will know that they get the retail version of the game finally, after 2 years lol. ;) It seems Ryu got his early SFIV-esque cr. mk back, so he might actually show up in tournaments again this season.

If you buy a character with fight money, you don't get any kind of discount on the season pass right?

Have over 150k that I'll probably just end up using on stages. As fun as it would be to get Sakura for free, I can't commit to doing that for the rest of them.

Turned on SFV for the first time in like a year (to get some FM that will be going away in AE) and got greeted with some major patch download action -_-

Bless Capcom for dealing with Ingrid in the best possible way: making her a non-canon costume for the chumps that are willing to pay up for her rather than wasting time, money, and our patience on making her an actual character.

In prep for tomorrow, can anyone direct me to a site that has the x-input drivers for the PS4 fightsticks? Their site no longer works for obvious reasons.

IMO - always get the season pass at the beginning of the season for max value...

I mean, I don't know about "max value" but yeah I've always gotten it right away just so I wouldn't have to worry about it. This season is the first year I planned on holding off, but since they're adding $30 worth of costumes, I'll probably just get it for the peace of mind, even though none of the characters are that interesting to me aside from Falke.

So umm where can i find this game on steam to pre purchase??
I don't think the "Arcade Edition" version of the game is up for purchase yet, only the regular version. You could buy the Deluxe Edition of the game and let it update tomorrow to the Arcade Edition, or just wait until tomorrow and buy the AE version then.

Nowhere. :|

But it seems it may make no difference for digital purchases (in the US and Asia):

Don't forget that the Season 3 Character Pass is available for purchase on January 16! If you purchase it from January 16 to January 30, you'll receive the nine 30th Anniversary and Nostalgia Costumes pictured below. You'll also receive the same nine costumes if you purchase the digital version of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition during the same time frame! These promotions are only available in the Americas and Asia (not Japan). European promotions will be different. Please see relevant European retailers on the day of launch.

Too bad we don't have specific mentions of Steam.

There will be a mode Extra Battle where you can win a costume by doing specific challenges monthly but it costs FM to play this mode. If you buy the Season 3 Character Pass in the first few weeks you get the following for free:

SFV just crashed on PC. First time it does that in a long time. huh

This is good for me actually depending on how hard they make Extra Battle if its as difficult as a last match on Survival Hard/Hell then I would never get a costume unless people figure out how to beat the CPU.
Yes this is my strategy. Let everyone else waste their fm trying until someone comes up with solid strategy if they are truly difficult (or get more difficult as they go on)

I actually got 2 CTDs clearing out story mode on PC version yesterday. Haven't seen one since turning off RTSS and updating to the latest GeForce drivers, but I hadn't seen any crashes with the game either until that.

I am personally pretty hyped for Sakura.

Playing Cammy over the past week wasn't too bad (a lot of people falling for dumb Hooligan stuff), but I'm hoping Sakura is the best fit for me.
