Update 2 (October 8th, 2020): All games to date have been added. Wow.

I started this over at the other forum, but with a number of games announced since I began it, and just to give it a nice redo, I thought it was appropriate to remake the thread here. :)

So far this is my 2nd thread here where I look at Nintendo-related topics from 3rd-parties. The first being of course about Sonic! (that thread's been cold and lonely..)

For the order of games, I'll go by Japanese release date. Click each box to view the high-res version.

Dragon Quest Heroes 1 & 2 for Nintendo Switch
Publisher: Square-Enix
Developer: Omega-Force
Release Date: March 3rd, 2017 (JP)

The first of MANY games by KT, and the first of MANY Warriors/Musou games, and it's a 2-for-1 deal to boot! The two games were only released on Sony hardware and Steam prior so this is the first Nintendo release of both games. I highly assume both would've been on Wii U had the system done much better... Anyway, it's certainly neat to see what is actually the only 2-pack so far on Switch that has both games on the cart. I think it even is the legit only 32GB cart used to date, which could be a very expensive cost to manufacture (the game's what, $90 in equivalent in Japan?). The game has a demo on the JP eShop you can try right now if you'd like. But be warned the demo runs less well than the final retail release. Digital Foundry did a comparison of the demos on Switch, PS4, and Vita. And here's a vid of the final retail version of the demo for comparison. The game runs in 1080p 30fps docked and 720p 30fps portable, but the framerate is iffy on both (especially portable). As for a western release, no news at the moment, but western retailers are showing Nintendo to be localizing it, but alas nothing's been said about it.

Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence with Power-Up Kit
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: March 3rd, 2017 (JP)

Here's KT's first published title on Switch, also at launch. This is also a late port of a game released on other systems. Sadly no news of a western release exists, but it got localized on PS3, PS4 and Steam, so it's not like KT would have to do much work to localize it on Switch.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 with Power-Up Kit
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: March 30th, 2017 (JP)

This game is quite interesting in that it actually follows a consistent pattern from Koei Tecmo; they also released ROTTK12 on Wii U, and before that ROTTK11 on Wii. Should we expect to see ROTTK14 on the Switch 2 perhaps? Like Nobunaga, there's no news on a western release, but it got localized on PS4, Steam, and even XBO.

Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: August 31st, 2017 (JP), October 24th, 2017 (NA), October 27th, 2017 (EU)

What's this? A KT game on Switch that was released worldwide? Indeed! This is also very significant as being the first Gust title on a Nintendo system to be released on the same day as the other systems, and the first such game to be released in the west since Atelier Annie on DS. Thankfully, it won't be the only Gust game on Switch, nor the only one released worldwide, as we'll get to soon.

Champion Jockey Special
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: September 14th, 2017 (JP)

This one is interesting because it's not only the first Champion Jockey in like, 6-7 years after Champion Jockey on Wii, PS3, and 360, but it's also technically a Switch-exclusive. However from purely an observation point it seems like a beefed-up port of said game? Hopefully someone who's played both can clarify. :P Also, fun fact; this game was a crossover with, get this, Koei's G1 Jockey series, and Tecmo's Gallop Racer series. How funny that both made competing horse racing games? If anything this looks more like G1 Jockey guest-starring Gallop Racer (it's using Koei's logo theme). Also when this launched on 360 and PS3, it was the first HD Gallop Racer game (G1 Jockey had been on PS3 once or twice prior). Anyway, this ties in with the next game on this list...

Winning Post 8 2017
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: September 14th, 2017 (JP)

The 2nd of the horse racing duo. This one is likely just a port of Winning Post 8 on other systems, but again I'm not terribly certain. Both games have a connectivity bonus, where your rider from Champion Jockey Special can appear in Winning Post 8 2017, and horses you raise in Winning Post 8 2017 can be brought over to Champion Jockey Special. Sadly no news of a localization on either game is known, but these games hardly ever show up in the west anymore (I think Champion Jockey on Wii/PS3/360 was the last). I guess you can say that KT looked at the west and simply uttered... "nay".

Fire Emblem Warriors
Publisher: Koei Tecmo (JP), Nintendo (NA and EU)
Developer: Omega-Force and Team Ninja
Release Date: September 28th, 2017 (JP), October 20th, 2017 (NA and EU)

This is the follow-up to Hyrule Warriors released for Wii and 3DS (as Hyrule Warriors Legends). This game also got a 3DS version, but this time as a New 3DS-exclusive (ala Xenoblade Chronicles 3D). Considering how poorly HWL ran on a regular 3DS, this was likely for the best. What's remarkable about this game on Switch, is that it has the unique option of allowing players to choose a performance mode! You can toggle between a 1080p 30fps mode, or a 720p 60fps mode. Choose whichever suits you best! GameXplain has a look at the mode comparison as well.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega-Force
Release Date: November 9th, 2017 (JP)

Now we have a trio of Warriors ports, all lined up on Switch on the exact same day. You Want Musou? You GET Musou! This game is particularly interesting as it's the first ever mainline entry on a Nintendo system. Nintendo fans have only received spin-offs such as Dynasty Warriors VS on 3DS and such.

Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega-Force
Release Date: November 9th, 2017 (JP)

The 2nd game is a spin-off of the Samurai Warriors series. A series very familiar to Nintendo fans as the Wii was the exclusive home of Samurai Warriors 3 and still is exclusive in the west (since Nintendo localized it).

Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega-Force
Release Date: November 9th, 2017 (JP)

The 3rd is actually a port of Warriors Orochi 3: Hyper (3 is 2 in Japan) already released on Wii U at launch. The Ultimate release also came out on the other systems prior with additional content over the Hyper release. Sadly none of the three games have been announced for the west, but all have been localized on other systems. Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Nobunaga's Ambition: Taishi
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: November 30th, 2017 (JP)

The 2nd Nobunaga game on Switch and this time it's out on the same day as on the other systems. Who knows, maybe this one will get localized since it's out at the same time and not a late port?

Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: December 21st, 2017 (JP), March 27th, 2018 (NA), March 30th, 2018 (EU)

Yes! Gust is also releasing the newest Atelier for the first time on a Nintendo system at the same time as on the other systems, AND it's getting localized! This is the 3rd in the Mysterious trilogy which followed Sophie and Firis on the other systems, but sadly no news yet if those get ported or not (Switch is the only system with the 3rd game to not have the first two).

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 - Deluxe Edition
Publisher: Bandai Namco
Developer: Omega Force/Koei Tecmo
Release Date: December 21st, 2017 (JP), May 10th, 2018 (NA), May 11th, 2018 (EU)

The One Piece: Pirate Warriors series finally makes its Nintendo debut! And it not only includes every bit of DLC for free, BUT it also shockingly runs at a targeted 60fps at 1080p docked. That to me is crazy. O_o The Switch version however seems to lack online multiplayer for some reason. However, it was just patched to include split single joy-con co-op play! It's been confirmed to be coming westward. However only EU gets a retail release.

Attack on Titan 2
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega-Force
Release Date: March 15th, 2018 (JP), March 20th, 2018 (NA and EU)

It's another Musou title, I know, shocking right? :P Again it's a same day release on Switch as on other systems, so that's good.

Winning Post 8 2018
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega-Force
Release Date: March 15th, 2018 (JP)

Already we have a second Winning Post coming to Switch... and it's just the 2018 version of the same game we just got LOL! Apparently it'll include overseas GI racers such as one called "The Everest", and it'll have an evolved training system where you can train horses with your own directions with settings called "Course", "Strength", and "Abreast Horse". The horses will also have 16 ability levels as opposed to 4 prior.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
Publisher: Koei Tecmo (JP), Nintendo (NA and EU)
Developer: Omega-Force and Team Ninja
Release Date: May 18th, 2018 (NA and EU), March 22nd, 2018 (JP)

Finally announced is the complete edition of Hyrule Warriors that contains all the content of both Wii U and 3DS version, and even adds BOTW outfits for Link and Zelda!

Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland DX
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: September 20th, 2018 (JP), December 4th, 2018 (NA and EU)

Gust announced that all three of the Atelier Arland games are being ported to Switch! This is the first one in the trilogy. The trio were digital-only in the west. However, it was possible to a retail triple-pack (with all on one cart supposedly!) via Play Asia (not heard good things about that site though...).

Atelier Torori: The Adventurer of Arland DX
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: September 20th, 2018 (JP), December 4th, 2018 (NA and EU)

Here's the second.

Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland DX
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: September 20th, 2018 (JP), December 4th, 2018 (NA and EU)

And the third!

Warriors Orochi 4
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega-Force
Release Date: September 27th, 2018 (JP), October 16th, 2018 (NA), October 19th, 2018 (EU)

What's this? A non-licensed Warriors game actually coming to the west on Switch? Indeed it is! Quite the surprise after Switch missed out on Dynasty Warriors 9 (I doubt anyone's sad about that anymore though after how that turned out...). This will be going back to the traditional style of gameplay, rather than the open-world approach DW9 went. Also, KT are attempting to get the Switch version to run at 1080p docked/720p portable and 60fps. THAT'S pretty ambitious, especially as it's obviously a downport, as no PS3 or Vita version exists this time.

Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists ~Atelier of the New World~
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: January 31st, 2019 (JP), March 26th, 2019 (NA and EU)

The second Atelier game on Switch, with this being more of a spin-off. Apparently it's closer to how the old DS spin-offs played, at least in the exploration. Characters from past games look to be appearing here as well, as a sort of "all-stars" entry.

Harukanaru Toki no Naka De 6 DX
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Ruby Party
Release Date: March 14th, 2019 (JP)

This is an otome game developed by KT's Ruby Party division, who specialize in these sorts of games. This bundles together both 'Harukanaru Toki na Naka De 6' and 'Harukanaru Toki no Naka De 6: Gentou Rondo' in one handy package. To date this hasn't left Japan and I wouldn't expect to. Hell has anything by Ruby Party ever left Japan?

Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: March 20th, 2019 (JP), May 21st, 2019 (NA), May 24th, 2019 (EU)

Out of nowhere Gust decided to make the 4th Arland title! This stars Lulua, the daughter of Rorona! On Switch, Gust showed that they were getting better and better at their Switch ports, and they'd get even better later on!

Dragon Quest Builders 2
Publisher: Nintendo (NA and EU, Switch-only))/Square-Enix (JP)
Developer: Square-Enix/Omega Force
Release Date: December 20th, 2018 (JP), July 12th, 2019 (NA and EU)

Square-Enix made a sequel to Dragon Quest Builders, and this time they brought back Omega Force along for the ride! What's interesting is that this is the first day 1 multiplat that I am aware of that Nintendo published their version of at the same time (SE published the PS4 version themselves in the west). Even Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge was a timed Wii U-exclusive in the west, and then Koei Tecmo published the PS3 and 360 versions themselves later on.

Winning Post 9
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: March 28th, 2019 (JP)

More horses! But this time they're EPIC... according to the box anyway. If you love horses and want more horses, then KT has you covered! You can bring a horse to water, but you can't bring a horse outside Japan it seems.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Team Ninja
Release Date: July 19th, 2019 (WW)

Well THIS was a shocker. Back at the Game Awards in 2018, Nintendo announced that they were making a new Marvel Ultimate Alliance game, the prior two of which were by Activision. The real weird part was the developer; Team Ninja. The first game was by Raven Software, while the second was by Vicarious Visions. Specifically this was seemingly the team at Team Ninja who helped out Omega Force with the Nintendo Musou games. Now they get to make their own project. Though evidently it wasn't by their top folks who worked on Dead or Alive 6 and Nioh, but still.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends: Definitive Edition
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega Force
Release Date: December 27th, 2018 (WW)

At last! A true Lu Bu blue mainline Dynasty Warriors has landed on a Nintendo system for the first time ever! AND IT GIT LOCALIZED! The only caveat was that it's digital-only in the west, but oh well. This version exclusively has ALL the DLC bundled in! So you don't have to fork over likely hundreds of bucks for all them fancy weapons and do-dads, it's all here! Port-wise it seems to be based on the PS3 version (aren't they all?), and seems to run at or nearly 1080p docked and at a fairly okay-ish 60fps. It's a good port, if not perfect.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Team Ninja
Release Date: March 20th, 2019 (JP)

Finally, a Dead or Alive game is on the Switch! Well, it's one of the volleyball games, but it's something at least. What's a bit interesting is that this runs on a special version of the Soft Engine called "Soft 4D" which combines the Soft Engine with HD Rumble *ahem*... The PS4 version runs on the Soft Engine 2.0 which I believe DoA6 runs on, while the one Switch is based on is the original that DoA5 runs on if I'm correct.

... Why isn't Dead or Alive 5 Last Round on Switch again?

Samurai Warriors 4 DX
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega Force
Release Date: March 14th, 2019 (JP)

Finally! Samurai Warriors 4 has landed on a Nintendo system after SW3 was made as a Wi-exclusive (and still is in the west). Sadly it still hasn't gotten localized (grr...). My futile theory is that they're waiting for Samurai Warriors 4-II DX to be made before releasing both together in the west, but sadly it's not likely at all. This is localized on other systems, why isn't a quick eShop release with a copy and pasted localization too much to ask for? Anyway, this port seemingly turned out much nicer than DW8XLDE. It has more depth of field effects retained and I think it runs smoother as well?

Nobunaga's Ambition: Taishi with Power-Up Kit
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: February 14th, 2019 (JP)

This is the usual "with Power-Up Kit" expansion of Nobunaga's Ambition Taishi. Not much else to say other than complain it's still not out in the west. I'm running out of material here! *flips through cards*

Kin'iro no Corda: Octave
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Ruby Party
Release Date: February 14th, 2019 (JP)

Another otome game by Ruby Party. Sorry, not much to say here.

Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega Force
Release Date: July 4th, 2019 (JP), July 5th, 2019 (NA and EU)

This is an expanded version of the game where they added content based on season 3 of the anime, and over 40 characters total to play as. This is also available as a cheaper DLC upgrade for owners of AoT2.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers
Publisher: Atlus
Developer: Omega Force
Release Date: February 20th, 2020 (JP)

PERSONA 5 IS FINALLY ON SWITCH... sort of. It is however the actual first Atlus-published game on Switch after *checks notes* almost three years. Anyway, in a surprise twist, Atlus worked with Omega Force for a Persona 5 Musou game. The neat thing is that this is actually a canonical sequel to Persona 5 (I assume Royal isn't accounted for since that was out a bit prior?). Still, it's something. Also despite the silence, it is seemingly getting localized according to KT's financials, and most assume COVID-19's to blame for the wait.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Intelligent Systems/Koei Tecmo
Release Date: July 26th, 2019 (WW)

Yes! In a surprise move, Nintendo hooked up with KT again, this time for a mainline Fire Emblem game! However, this time it was by the team behind their strategy games like Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The game did SUPER well. I believe it alongside Nioh are KT's highest selling games ever.

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: September 26th, 2019 (JP), October 29th, 2019 (NA), November 1st, 2019 (EU)

This is it, possibly Gust's crowning achievement. As the first of a new series, the team seemingly went all-in and just put their all into it. From a character design that's been particularly popular (I can't imagine why), to gorgeous art direction, and a fantastic Switch port. Everything just came together, earning Gust their highest selling Atelier game, if not game period of all-time.

One Piece Pirate Warriors 4
Publisher: Bandai Namco
Developer: Omega Force
Release Date: March 27th, 2020 (WW)

The 4th entry and the first day 1 release on a Nintendo system. This time the character models have more true-to-form proportions as they seemed... semi-super deformed? Either way even on Switch the visuals are definitely an improvement over 3's, but the framerate seems worse at an uncapped 60fps that hovers in the 40's?

Monster Rancher
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: December 19th, 2019 (JP)

It's time to be transported to a far away land where monsters rule! That's right, the original Monster Rancher on PS1 got an HD port on Switch! It's still in 4:3 (with boarders on the left and right acting as an extra HUD of sorts). But bizarrely it's still not been localized. However during TGS 2020, they addressed the game (and its sequel) as Monster Rancher in the official English version of the page, rather than the Japanese Monster Farm name. So... there's hope?

Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 7
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Ruby Party
Release Date: June 18th, 2020 (JP)

This is a Switch-exclusive entry in the series. The 6th one (also on Switch) originally came out on Vita in March 2015, so it was over 5 years since.

Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega Force
Release date: December 19th, 2019 (JP), February 14th, 2020 (NA and EU)

As expected, Warriors Orochi 4, like 3 before it, got an Ultimate release. Like Attack on Titan 2 before it, the new content is also available as a cheaper upgrade for existing owners.

Fairy Tail
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: July 30th, 2020 (JP and EU), July 31st, 2020 (NA)

Yep, a Fairy Tail game by the makers of the Atelier series. It's not very often, if ever, that Gust makes a licensed game, but here we are. This had a few delays but it finally came out. Performance seemed iffy on seemingly all platforms? Doesn't seem like they put their all into this one. But I guess they chose right doing so with Ryza, but still, really odd.

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk DX
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: December 25th, 2019 (JP), January 14th, 2020 (NA and EU)

First we got the Arland trilogy, now it's the Dusk trilogy's turn! Indeed, all three got same-day remasters on Switch and were digital-only releases in the west. Here's the first of the three.

Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky DX
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: December 25th, 2019 (JP), January 14th, 2020 (NA and EU)

Here's the second one.

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea DX
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: December 25th, 2019 (JP), January 14th, 2020 (NA and EU)

And the third one!

Angelique Luminarise
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Ruby Party
Release Date: 2021 (JP)

Believe it or not, this is the first Angelique game in 18 years! O_o

Winning Post 9 2020
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: March 12th, 2020 (JP)

This is the 2020 edition of Winning Post 9. What, did you expect me to say more about this game? To that I say NAY!

Monster Rancher 2
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: September 17th, 2020 (JP)

Back for round 2! This is the second entry from PS1 to get an HD remaster on Switch. I wonder if they'll do Monster Rancher 3 from PS2 next. It'll be interesting to see how they handle that one, if it happens.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release date: December 3rd, 2020 (JP), January 26th, 2021 (NA), January 29th, 2021 (EU)

With how well the original did, you bet Gust will quickly make a follow-up! This is actually the first named sequel with the same main character in a long while. I think the last was maybe the Atelier Iris series on PS2? What's shocking is that Nintendo got the world-exclusive reveal in the July 2020 Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase video (but only in Japan for some reason). How far we've come huh?

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV: Diplomacy and Strategy Expansion Pack Bundle
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: December 10th, 2020 (JP), February 11th, 2021 (NA and EU)

Yes! Breaking the weird but neat tradition of releasing one mainline entries on Nintendo systems each gen that began with ROTK11 on Wii, then ROTK12 on Wii U, and finally ROTK13 on Switch, we have ROTK14 on Switch as well! AND IT'S BEING LOCALIZED! Yep, this I think is the first time since the Super Nintendo where a mainline ROTK game has been localized on a Nintendo system. Also note that the English name above is indeed still called the Power-Up Kit in Japan.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Publisher: Nintendo (NA and EU)/Koei Tecmo (JP)
Developer: Omega Force/Team Ninja
Release Date: November 20th, 2020 (WW)

Out of fucking nowhere. Nintendo just randomly tweets that "Hey, we're making HW2, oh and it's a canonical prequel to BOTW 100 years in the past!". This is pretty massive. Koei Tecmo are this time focusing on the gameplay where as Nintendo themselves do the graphics and story. This game has so much potential to KILL it this holiday season. There's a lot of hype for this game. Can this be KT's #1 seller of all time? Time will tell!

Uncharted Waters IV with Power-Up Kit HD Version
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Koei Tecmo
Release Date: TBA (JP)

This was randomly announced at TGS 2020. This seemingly may be an HD remaster/remake of the PSP game? Not much is known at the moment.

dw9elogo34j0d.png

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Omega Force
Release Date: Early 2021 (WW)

The mad folks did it. They ported Dw9 to Switch! Oh, wait, it's no longer featuring the open world. That makes sense. But still, I'm super excited to see how this turns out visually. The character creator is also said to be based on the one from Nioh 2. So folks are excited for that bit! This is also getting localized on Switch as well, naturally.

Ciel nosurge: Requiem for a Lost Star DX
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: January 28th, 2021 (JP)

No Atelier trilogy this year, this time it's the nosurge duo from the Vita! Sadly no news of a localization yet for either game. Only the second one Ar nosurge below got localized on PS3 and Vita back in the day (Ciel nosurge was only on Vita also). Here's the first game.

Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star DX
Publisher: Koei Tecmo
Developer: Gust
Release Date: January 28th, 2021 (JP)

And the second one!

###

And that's it for now! Koei Tecmo have shown that they are among the biggest, if not THE biggest Switch supporter, with 12/13 (depending on how DQ Heroes is counted) games being in the first 12 months of the system's life, what on EARTH?! I think Koei Tecmo's words should be shared here:

"We bet big on the Switch as a game changer so we began making games before the Switch's launch, but many software companies showed reluctance in releasing Switch games before they witnessed the current success," said Yoichi Erikawa, chief executive of game company Koei Tecmo Holdings Co. , at a news conference last week.

Yep.

So what do you think of the thread and of Koei Tecmo's Switch support thus far? What games have you bought? What are you hoping to see on the system? I'm hoping we'll see Toukiden soon to help scratch that MH itch, and also for Gust to port over Atelier Sophie and Atelier Firis over to complete the trilogy. And how about localizing some more games eh KT? :P

I love Musou games and I haven't bought Fire Emblem Musou because of Super Mario Odyssey, but I will soon.

I think Koei Tecmo went slow, with a wait and see aproach to the Switch. With the success, they went for port wich I assume is to aim for profit. Now they announce Switch versions alongside the rest and I will play Lydie on Switch.

I'm totally obsessed with Fire Emblem Warriors right now and I've never really been into Musou games before. I think the FE license is helping a lot. Probably going to pick up some of those DLC packs when they release.

Nothing else of theirs catches my eye. The Atelier series is beyond stale at this point and none of their other series seem interesting.

I don't feel that's the case. Looking at what they are releasing, the only game missing from their output since the Switch launched is Dynasty Warriors 8 and the Musou all-stars game. And they have a couple of exclusive games like FE Warriors to balance that somewhat. Their approach is probably one of the least wait-and-see out there, second perhaps only to Bethesda. Koei simply doesn't produce that many big games, so their number of big games on Switch seems small when the support actually is very good.

Despite appearing as carbon copies, Koei does a good job of differentiating licensed Musous from the main series. Zelda and DQ Heroes were both fantastic in their own right.

Fire Emblem Warriors has been pretty damn awesome. It took a little bit to grow on me but its clear why FE works well with Musou. I hope we see more games like it on the Switch.

Oh for sure. I played a few hours of Dragon Quest Heroes and it seemed interesting, but I just have no fanfare towards that franchise like I do Fire Emblem. I think implementing the weapon triangle was super smart because it forces you to use different characters you otherwise might not have and makes the battles a bit more strategic.

Everything they did was also on Vita. I'll call it a real support when they start to port current gen home console games. I don't care about the compromises, I want home console experience on the go. Games like Nioh, Dynasty Warriors 9.

I still hope DQHI&II makes it's way west but I feel like the window might be closed already. Maybe NOA/NOE can still pick it up for next summer or something to sandwich between Builders and XI.

Already sunk 15 hours into FEW and will come back after Odyssey. Other than that I'd also grab WO3U if it comes over but not really interested in any of the other Musou (DW8E, Sanada, OP3, AOT2).

Fire Emblem Warriors is a solid legit game. Despite finishing the main campaign, I'm still returning to the game, finding joy finishing the challenges in History Mode. So far the Zelda and Fire Emblem musou games have been some of my favorite games.

Will probably buy the DLCs for Fire Emblem.

Party hasn't really started until we start hearing about Fatal Frame, imo. At least get the ball rolling with upgraded ports of 4 & 5 on Switch, to help promote the inevitable 6!

I dont think Dragon Quest Heroes and One Piece Pirate Warriors are indicative of KT support considering they solely act as a developper here and that business decision is more about Bamco and SE.

Although, it's true that KT has been going strong on the Switch, going as far as releasing their Gust stuff.

Seems crazy they would release three Musou games in the same day, even if they are just ports.

Why would do they do this?

Anyways, will totally buy Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate again for Switch if they ever localise it.

If DQ Heroes collection ever comes over, it will probably be Heroes 2 with 1 as a download. They ain't bringing over the full cart. Not unless there's a $100 special edition

I (and a couple of friends) are still holding out for a Hyrule Warriors re-release. That game was excellent, especially the Adventure Mode. Would be nice to see a definitive Switch version with all the DLC and perhaps even the addition of the content from the 3DS version, especially for the DLC characters who had no story stuff on Wii U.

If they do go into the code again (which they'd need to in order to split the collection into a partial download) I'd hope Omega Force tunes up the framerate. In fact they could offer dual 30fps/1080p and 60fps/720p modes, which should really be standard for all Musou going forward.

If they did all this they could also probably rerelease it in Japan at a lower pricepoint too.

So many musou games! It's funny really, I don't think I would ever get hooked on the genre if it hadn't been for Hyrule Warriors. Now that Fire Emblem Warriors also proved to be a very fun game, I'm thinking maybe I should venture further down the rabbit hole. What other musou-style game would you guys recommend?

Plan to get Nights of azure 2, anyone has it? If so how is it. I picked up the fate musou game and felt it was fairly average especially if compared with fire emblem hero

I'm a pretty big KT and ω-Force groupie, and I'm happy with their Switch support thus far. Also, I'm really hoping for an All-In-One Hyrule Warriors release on the Switch.

Bring back Ninja Gaiden or release Nioh on the system.

Im a bit curious about attack on Titan 2 though. Maybe this time it will have a decent budget?

Oh, I didn't know about Pirate Warriors 3.
I'll have to put that one on my growing "to buy" list.

Now where's Toukiden Kiwami/2 double pack?

KT is the master of ports. It amazes me how much they can push out to any platform when you have Capcom on the other end going "we can't do that".

Which reminds me, did we get any numbers for FE Warriors at the shareholders briefing?

Also, hopefully AoT2 also has an English voice acting option (via the the Funimation voice actors).

Needs more Nobunaga and Romance on distant shores.

The support is nice but none of those games are on my radar. Where is Fatal Frame?
Last one probably bombed so hard it burrowed down to the center of the earth. But I'd take a straight port of that, even. Game is too good to not be in the hands of a bigger audience.

I don't believe we did, but the publishing situation for that is a little weird since K-T is the publisher in Japan, and even though it's a Nintendo IP, Nintendo isn't known to give out specifics for third party sales numbers beyond software totals.

I could have sworn the 3 warriors games were already confirmed for a western release. darn

Empires and FE warriors are definitely on my radar. Especially FE which is a must-buy

That makes sense, I suppose.

As a big Warriors fan, this makes me super super happy. Having console grade musou on a handheld is super great!

When DQH1&2 was announced for the Japanese Switch, DQH2 hadn't even been released in the US yet. There's no way they would release a compilation game for the same price and at the same time as a new release. So, if anything, the window for a US release of DQH1&2 is just now starting. I think they'll still release it, though Squenix is a bit less predictable with releases than Koei Tecmo would be if they were doing it on their own. Maybe Squenix is planning another Dragon Quest push where they release three or four DQ games in a couple months (like they did when Builders, Heroes, and 7 came out).

The other Musou rereleases, I'd give even chances for release. Spirit of Sanada didn't do well (but it is very good), they've already released three different versions of WO3 so far, and I don't think the Empires game are really for anybody but the most hardcore fans - but Koei has been really good about releasing things these past few years. There was a time - the dark times - when they didn't release a lot of things, and the stuff they did release was digital only... but we're past that now. However, with the added cost of Switch carts, it may be difficult to release games that would obviously be a smallish print run.

Now where's Toukiden Kiwami/2 double pack?
Most likely, if they continue with the series, we'll see a Kiwami 2, which would undoubtedly have Switch support. I doubt they'd go back and rerelease the first game though due to its disappointing lack of Tokitsugu.

It's interesting to note that Nights of Azure sold a combined 80k copies in Japan.

https://twitter.com/bk2128/status/923902887687626752

More interesting is that the Limited Edition on the NISA online store is sold out---the Switch version was unlisted and the PS4 one is basically out of stock too.

I wonder what that means for Gust games on Switch going forward.

Thank you for bringing Nights of Azure 2 to the west and physically at that. Looking forward to Attack on Titan 2 and Atelier next year. Hopefully even more games to come (and please bring them physically).

Nothing for me but I still need to give Atelier a chance one day, should look into the best and cheapest ps4 entry.
