So here's a silly question, do actors that play multiple roles, like say the lady in Orphan Black who plays 567980 roles, get paid more for it?

Actors aren't paid per role. They also each negotiate their own rate through an agent and/or manager. Tatiana Maslany almost certainly made the most on that show though as its lead, with no other extremely notable actor part of the main cast. As with most relative unknowns, she probably got paid more in the later seasons than the earlier ones.

I'll tell you this, I'll give her all the credit in the world, these characters might aswell be different actresses, she plays them so differently.

Kinda sorta super into the show tbh, maybe I shouldn't have started it at midnight... it's 4am now >_>

New J.J. Abrams Sci-Fi Drama Series Demimonde Sparks Heated Bidding War Between HBO and Apple

Written and possibly directed by the Felicity/Lost/Fringe vet himself, the project — titled Demimonde — is being billed as a big-budget sci-fi family drama about a world's battle against a monstrous, oppressive force.

Demimonde is expected to find a home by week's end, with either HBO or Apple prepared to order the project straight to series.

Demimonde is noteworthy because it would mark the first series created and written solely by Abrams in a decade (since Fringe).

Facebook Orders Drama Series 'Sacred Lies'

Former True Blood executive producer Raelle Tucker and director Scott Winant have teamed with Blumhouse Television for Sacred Lies (working title) a half-hour drama, which has been given a 10-episode series order by Facebook Watch.

Based on the classic Grimm Brothers tale The Handless Maiden, and Stephanie Oakes' novel The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly, Sacred Lies (working ttitle) is about a handless teen who escapes from a cult and finds herself in juvenile detention, suspected of knowing who killed her cult leader.

That sounds like HALF-LIFE the TV show.

Why a family drama, though? Everything else sounds good...but that could drag it down.

How so? Like, family drama doesn't mean "for families" - Six Feet Under was a family drama, as was Big Love.

I never got why the show moved from MTV to Spike in the first place.

Supposedly it's because Shannara skewed older and male, which was more in line with Spike's demo. MTV skews younger and female (and is also shifting away from scripted iirc. They don't have anything lined up apart from the third season of Scream in March) so they thought it was a poor fit.

Now this, is public negotiating.

I assume Apple will get it because they're hungrier for content than HBO is (and also have way the fuck more money than HBO).

It's interesting how Apple is stocking up on sci-fi. This is, what, their fifth announced one (potentially)? They seem to be interested in primarily being a place for science-fiction, which sets them uniquely apart from the streamers like Amazon and Netflix who are throwing everything at the wall.

I know of one more they've bought that hasn't been announced yet too.

Dear Ausiello, this is completely untrue. Get your shit together.

From THR:
Sources say the Abrams drama is about a family — consisting of a mother who works as a scientist, her husband and their young daughter — who all get into a terrible car crash. After the mother winds up in a coma, her daughter begins digging through her experiments in the basement and winds up being transported to another land amid a world's battle against a monstrous, oppressive force. Her father then follows her into this new world.
Shrug. Sounds like a ton of other things.

Of course, I also think Abrams sucks at everything besides casting and convincing execs to buy things, so having him spearhead the creation and writing is not a plus in my book.

And it turns out that her mother created this world and waking her up is the only way to restore order. Yawn.

I think so, but I might be biased on this one in particular.

On HBO that would probably mean some very dysfunctional family which can be good if you like that stuff. ;)

Edit: Well I just read the pitch for the show and it doesn't sound like anything special, I'd still watch the pilot though.

Tatiana Maslany was incredible in Orphan Black. Truly a breakout performance with all her avatars.

That said, I still couldn't watch the show after season 2. Nothing they did with the story made any sense to me in that season so the show just kind of lost me after that.

I never got why it was on MTV in the first place.
(or well I get why, they tried to get their demo with a pretty boy lead, but fantasy still skews quite male and it doesn't seem to match with much of their other programming. Maybe Teen Wolf had some audience crossover with Shannara, but it's still not what I'd think of aas a natural fit for the network.)
Speaking of Stranger Things maybe Netflix will pick it up.
Eh, that's a big maybe. It's been sold around quite a bit internationally and not platforms held by the same owner (HBO has it in the Nordics, Channel 5 in the UK, etc) and Netflix seems more likely to go for things they get most of the worldwide rights for. So it could find a home on something like Hulu that is more focused on the American market or something like CBS All Access/Epix that could use something with a built-in audience to grow their brand.
(I know your post might have been the obligatory half-serious "maybe Netflix will save it, but it's fun to speculate)
edit: I should have read the Deadline article before posting;
The Shannara Chronicles, which is based on the best-selling fantasy books by Terry Brooks, streams on Netflix in the U.S. and some international markets, so the SVOD giant could be a suitable home
Still rate it as fairly unlikely, unless they can scoop full exclusivity. But hey, maybe it's really popular on Netflix so they want it bad.

Also, I kind of hope it doesn't find a new home because I made a good joke in the title for once. Just don't expect this level of quality for future titles (and yes, this is as good as my titles will ever get... don't say I didn't warn you)

Winner, Winner chicken dinner

Right on the mark with a .8 for Black Lightning, which retained all of the Flash's audience

The show hit a really rough patch in the second half of season 2 and into season 3. I'm not surprised you dropped it. I managed to finish the damn thing by the end, but it took some doing. The final season was generally pretty solid, though. I don't remember if you got to meet the funniest clone yet if you gave up during S2.

Solid start for Black Lightning. I haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet but it is really feeling like CW is going overboard with the cape shows.

I'm looking forward to checking it out, I just kinda wish it was in airing in the summer so they didn't have 5 shows going at once. It kinda feels like a chore at this point to watch them all.

To be fair, only 4 shows airing at once

Since Supergirl is on now, and will be on hiatus when Legends returns, Legends ends... then Supergirl returns!

I loved Black Lightning! Damn, keep it separate from the Arrowverse. I agree that somethings would be lost by making him crossover.
