That demo was such an awesome tease for a new IP. I'll never forgive konami for cancelling it.

The Danger Zone
We're gonna get to a point where theres a fully playable PC version or easily downloadable PS4 version in the future.

PT is so special and Konami just threw it away.

Wow... this reminds me of downloading and playing P.T. for the first time when I had no idea what it was--one of those "I wish I could do it again for the first time" moments in gaming. Thanks for this OP. I'll check it out.

It will never be the same.

I'm still hoping for a dev who looks at something like P.T. and recognises the reason it worked/works so well is in its understanding that [good] horror isn't always about the physical "set-pieces" or simply shoving jump-scares left-and-right in a player's face. What I loved about P.T. specifically was the psychological horror aspect of it and the ample moments that were either uncomfortable (screaming babies, use of audio mixing, radio dialogue changing suddenly) or just out-right "...WHAT?!" in reaction (corridor changing red and suddenly having the ability to sprint).

It looks stunning but I imagine it's going to be tough to pull off some of PT's tricks. Game gets insane.

What if you never downloaded it?

What I did was I just bought it and checked out on the PSN store, but never downloaded it.

Is it still possible?

as far as i know unfortunately it only applies to those who did download the demo but changed/harddrive/lost it for whatever reason :( I think you're covered if you've already accepted it to your account though!

P.T is a cursed game and this will get cancelled soon enough. Lisa doesn't want you to see the truth.

Nope, I didn't have a PS4 at the time P.T was downloadable, but I went through the website and added it to my psn profile for when I eventually got my PS4. Now it shows up as an icon in my library on PS4 and when I go to try to download it it says it's not available to download anymore. So, if you don't have it on your hard drive now you can never play it.

YES, when I added the P.T demo to my "own list" I only had a PS3, when got my PS4 in summer 2017, I downloaded and installed the P.T. demo for the very first time, I do not remember what guide I used to do it though.

Man, I'll always regret not getting a PS4 before P.T. was taken down. I was able to play it on a college roommate's PS4 so at least I'll always have it in my memories...

I'm so bummed I didn't have PS4 when this was still available...
I'm not sure if it works if it was never in your library, but there IS a backdoor method to redownload it after they removed that option. As in: I have it on my PS4 Pro. People weren't supposed to be able to download it before then. Should be instructions online, it was fairly simple. Again, I know it works if you had it in your library first, but I don't know if you can use that method to get a fresh first-time download.

If you guys are interested, there's another PT inspired project that's probably releasing this year called Visage. There's quite a lot of gameplay out there as well:

Looks like a solid effort, although the plastic sheen of the materials throws everything off.

Looks good, hope it stays true to the original (nearly impossible) and doesn't get taken down so that the Xbox/Switch/PC players can finally get a taste of one of the best "horror" experiences in recent times.

The greatest loss of the Silent Hill fanbase. We might even have NO game made then have a taste of what could be the definitive successor to the first 3 games, and then get cockblocked, by suits with egos.

Also, there was this same inspired demo, but running on Unity, released for free sometime ago IIRC.

Also, so much of what made P.T. effective was the mystery surrounding it. If Kojima had announced it upfront and said "HEY GUYS, I'VE MADE A HORROR GAME THAT PLAYS LIKE THIS!" it just wouldn't have interested me. The way it was teased and the way it played succesfully created an illusion of sorts that gave me this sense of "What is going to happen next!?" in the game and even outside of the game. It felt like such an enigma and no attempt at "re-creating" P.T. in some opportunistic attempt to promote yourself as developers is going to recapture that nor is it going to excite me. Resident Evil thus far stands as the best response to P.T. in how, like a good artist, it steals from P.T. to create its own ideas instead of borrowing them and doing them no justice.

I'm not trying to shit on it, but if they've gotten this far why not just make their own similar game? They're onviously talented enough.
Maybe they will. This demo left a big hole for a lot of people.

I downloaded P.T to my PS4 Pro 4 months ago using this guide.

http://wololo.net/2016/04/10/how-to-redownload-p-t-silent-hills/

Only works if at some point you did add P.T to your PSN account, even if you didn't download it.

How exactly does this work? It mentions a modified JSON file but never suggests you need to download one, or have downloaded the game package. Does SUWI automatically route your PS4 toward some unknown server elsewhere on the net? Where is it downloading the file from?

That's great.

I'll try that now then and if it works I won't worry about getting a Pro in the future.

I thought everyone silently agreed we never talk about this again because of the old wounds which are now bleeding again. This recreation is as half assed like the complicated method to get the demo back to your PlayStation 4 (yes, I'm totally not into DNS stuff and so on). Time went by and it would be a piece of cake for Konami to put this thing up on the PlayStation Network again. But I think this isn't a topic for them anymore. Instead we will get this MGS Survive crap which forces you in a Singleplayer heavy game to be always connected to the Internet and it's content will be spammed with microtransactions.

P.T. was a damn fine piece of Software. To bad Konami gone nuts just two days before I received my PlayStation 4 back from the repair center.

Another example of "right place/right time" marketing. This was back when Twitch streamers were beginning to gain momentum and it had just become as popular as it is now. That aspect never interested me, nor does it interest me in the slightest now, but I recognise the success of the demo's marketing and Sony's/Konami's awareness of what the broader video game culture was interested in - thus effectively promoting/announcing a new [DEAD!!!] Silent Hill game that isn't just your typical/conventional press release.
