Fire element is redundant since Brighid is vastly better and while the damage reduction passive is neat, it isn't really necessary for an agility tank.

Newt could be a decent blade if you wanted to try to make Zeke an HP tank or something, but I don't see a reason to use her on Morag.

Yeah I think you're right. I kinda wish there was an additional party member. There's SO many blades and not enough drivers.

Taking Newt as an example, she's a tank. By that virtue you'd naturally assume she would go with Morag or Tora (though he can't have her for obvious reasons).

But she's a tank that grants bonus HP rather than agility, meaning she's not much good to Morag, and the only other tank in the game is Tora who, as we all know, can't bond with blades.

That means, if you want to use Newt, you have to start jamming her in to someone else's line-up.

Putting her on Rex seems pointless. Not only does that eliminate your control over the break/topple/launch/smash combo but it duplicates an element you already have with Pyra.

You don't want her on Nia as you want to avoid drawing aggro to her, which leaves Zeke.

She works on Zeke but he's essentially setup as a fighter and there are sooo many good attackers, why waste a slot?

Plus you want to keep aggro off him too and will probably be using him in conjunction with a tank. If he's got a crit/heal accessory it makes even less sense to use her on him. lol

I will continue to toy around with my setup, maybe I need to be a little more open to mixing and matching my blades...

And on another note, I've only just discovered - 97 hours in - there's a whole ground floor level to Temperantia!

I've already found three unique monsters, another quest and a heart-to-heart. I feel like an idiot, but man, it's awesome to still to be discovering new stuff.

Hey, all. Is there a way to see the actual number stat for the amount of trust a blade has? I know where the letter ranks are for a blade, but was wondering about the number stat? For example,
1,300 trust unlocks Perun's level 3 affinity.
It'd be nice to see where she is at.

Just move your cursor over to the locked icon on the bottom left. It will tell you much trust you have.

Got my best chain attack by far just now.

Btw, does unlocking the full tunnel by unlocking the dark barrier get you anything? It doesn't seem it really goes anywhere other than connecting to the camp.

Got Boreas and Nim yesterday from rare cores, legendaries were a disappointment. That leaves just Vale and KOS-MOS, I'd be happy if I got at least one today...

Hopefully any of you isn't making the same mistake I did with few of the last rare blades. I was missing a few and spent a few hours farming and bonding legendary cores, only to realize later that the blades I was missing were all obtained from side quests (I finally checked out who I was missing). Thankfully I didn't waste THAT much time and did the farming while watching Netflix...

I wish there was an option to say "No" when the nopon asks Pyra if she wants a lesson in "maidiness" for "blushy crushy"

Edit: it only gets worse! This is the most embarrassing moment of the game so far holy shit

Yeah, I was getting a bit worried why I had quite a bit missing from my collection until I checked the wiki and missed some along the way, got them all now apart from
Theory
. I'll be farming for KOS-MOS and Vale later tonight, not sure whether I should finish the game first though.

That is a weird way to say 'Utterly broken.'

Nah, KOS-MOS is really good but broken is reserved for Mythra (and I guess Poppi QTpi, but I haven't really done that).

And if you're just stacking orbs for chain attacks in the post-game I can see where she's not very useful, of any element to have two of light is probably the worst due to Mythra being so OP.

Poppi and Mythra are so broken that they are just another feature of the Battle System as far as I am concerned.

That's about as good of a comparison as you're going to get, it's very much a sequel to that gameplay-wise. If you liked that there is a good chance you will like Xenoblade 2. It's a bit more ambitious, but also more rough around the edges.

Awesome I'll give this a shot then. This will be perfect on the 15hr flight I have coming up. My only hitch with the first Xenoblade honestly was the voice acting. I... just couldn't take it. Lol. I ended up dropping the game actually near the end. I do hear for this one though they have Japanese VA's as an option so I should be good to go there. XD

Recently finished the game, and man did I love this game. Not ready to move on from it yet so Im going to work on getting the last two Rare blades I need (Dahlia and of course KOS-MOS) and then aiming for doing all the Blade quest.

Hey guys. On a flight and started this back up after a long hiatus. I can't view YouTube cause I'm in the air.

Real quick - in Ch. 4, how do I push those final enemies toward under the crane?

Is there a list of all the rare monsters in the game... and is there any collective reward for killing them? I know that they drop "good" loot but other than that, any real reason?

I've heard to stay away from upgrading Poppi to QTpi due to her being more attack oriented and less a tank. Is that what you guys mean when you say she's broken or you mean OP? Do you recommend not doing the quest for her? Curious what any others think as well.

They mean she's OP. But really she only becomes OP if you grind for materials. Standard QTPi is fine and don't worry about her being ATK. The benefits of a third blade on Tora are not worth passing on just to keep him a pure TNK.

Nice, with the cores from the update I managed to get Finch - on the 4th character too! 8 rares still elude me though...

I've only seen like one person say getting QTpi is bad, and they were promptly shot down for being dumb. If you put up with the Tiger Tiger grind she's one of the best blades in the game alongside Mythra. And you can easily make her more tanky by giving her a tank/evasion mod and some aggro boost customs. Or you can just make her kill everything.

And even failing all that, you could always just disengage her. Not that there would ever be any good reason to do that.

Thank you, guys! Just got it and wrapped up Ch. 4. That chapter was a slog but I'm excited to get back into this.
I felt that way too about chapter 4, but I promise you, the game really takes off and will immerse the hell out of you. Enjoy! :)

That's what I figured, just knee jerk reactions. Always value the opinions more of the people on here, so thanks for the added input! Gonna be upgrading her soon.

I know Xenoblade 2's not exactly immersive, but it's still pretty egregious for the narrative to talk about a 3-hour countdown and then give me a destination in-game that would take at least two in-game days to reach.

I just got Vale but on the wrong character. Kinda bummed because I really wanted to use her on Rex or Zeke. Oh well....guess I'll pray for another Overdrive.

You get a buttload from the DLC. I've been working my way through it today and frankly it seems like the sort of thing that should be done as you're playing through the game instead of post-game.

Started back on the story again with all the blades much more powered up and a few levels of EXP for my trouble. It can still get tough even if you have the raw power to handle all comers. Lost one fight because Nia fell off a ledge and I couldn't see where her corpse spawned for revival.

Thread "Silly Video Game Tropes" just spoiled me on something in this game because they put a spoiler without stating for what game. The spoiler was saying the game the trope belongs to. Pretty pissed right now.

I guess I shouldn't mind it...everyone here telling us
not to put Blades on Rex already made me suspicious enough.

This may have already been answered but I'm not totally sure how to search/Google for the answer so maybe someone can point me in the right direction: what do I do with all these rare blades that I've opened on (arguably) the wrong character? For example, Nia getting ATK-oriented blades seems like a bad idea (mostly because I'd read elsewhere in the thread that this was an awful idea). Originally I figured I could just transfer them at will, but that was before I learned that overdrive protocols are HELLA RARE (and that was after I'd already used two of them on common blades, ooooops). So now I'm stuck with the prospect of getting rare blades I can/should never use. What do I do? Transfer as many as I can to the "right" characters? Not worry about it and use them anyways? Leave them alone and only ever use them for missions? Delete my save and restart my game? (haha not really)

Late game you can farm overdrives by completing the entire Affinity chart for certain common blades (though the specific ones are still sort of rare, you can overcome this especially if you're going to try and farm all the rare blades, you'll be swimming in cores). That is one method of moving them around.

There is another spoiler related reason that some blades can move later in the game as well. My recommendation is to ignore it and use them if needed or let them be merc mission leaders or whatever. You don't NEED a perfect setup until you're trying to do superbosses late in the game, and at that point you can afford to spend the time to farm some overdrives. The game can be enjoyed perfectly fine without certain blades. Just let it be until later.

Plenty of the best rare blades come from specific/special core crystals and not RNG ones anyway. Only a handful of the gacha ones are worth moving anyway, so the limited overdrives don't hurt too much the further you get.

Basically KOS-MOS, Vale, Zenobia, Perceval, and Finch for attackers and tanks. I don't remember healers other than Boreas, but late/post-game they kind of don't matter anyway.

New game plus is working?

Lol, no, I just finished chapter 9 for the first time today, resuming climbing the tree earlier this afternoon.

Speaking of:

Full Burst against Amalthus. Jin gave me a lot of trouble, forced me to go to an Inn and it was still a hard-fought thing afterwards. Amalthus was easy, except that he had one of those story boss insta-win attacks that pushed me to the brink about 50% through, but Nia survived it somehow so we kept going. Jin was much tougher because his moveset is designed to disrupt, and then he adds in that "Heal Cancel" debuff which always comes when one of your party members can least afford it.

Least that fucker's dead and i won't have to deal with him again.

Opened Praxis's blade. Maybe i will do the theory quest after all, before the End.

Okay, I won't worry about it. I guess it makes sense, since with what, 100-odd rare blades?, there was never any way to get them all into your character slots anyways, let alone just the active party ones. Thanks all!

There are 37(/38) rare blades IIRC. 20 come from random crystals, the other 17 from the story. Some of those 17 are character locked (Pyra, Poppi, etc) but many aren't, and those 17 are mostly some of the best rare blades.

Plus you can theoretically get commons that are better than most of the rare blades, but the odds are extremely low.
