I know everyone likes to hate Zardes, but I really liked him. Unfortunately for him, he just does not fit with Gio. I hope he has a bounce back season next year. It's a good move for the LA Galaxy though.

Zardes earned $577,500 in 2017 while Kamara got $482,500, although Kamara will get a new contract with a raise in the trade. The Galaxy will also need to acquire an additional international roster spot to activate Kamara before the March 4 season-opener. The Galaxy are currently maxed-out with foreign players at seven.

I wonder if this means either Joao Pedro or Michael Ciani is gone. Most Galaxy fans would hope it's Ciani.

I think Zardes is alright; I would've taken him here. But him plus 400k for one of MLS' best strikers is very lopsided.

Anyways, I found this pretty funny:

I like him already, and not just because of his quality Twitter skills. Dude is super honest in interviews

First of all: There is a Union specific kit leaks account?

Second of all: It's actually a dope kit:

That's much better than kits in the previous years. I'm hoping they move away from the two tone look. I was never a fan. If they are gonna stick with the two tone stuff, maybe have just one kit have that design instead of both primary and secondary.

NYCFC signs Norwegian international striker/winger Jo Inge Berget from Malmo, on a free transfer. MLS' raid of the Allsvenskan, and especially Malmo (Tinnerholm, Yotun, Eriksson used to play for them) continues.

Tagging AIP , our resident Malmo expert to give us some insight.

They're all really hard-working players that always give 100% every game. I would have loved if they remained at Malmö but such is life... I'm pretty sure they won't disappoint and when fantasy season starts I'll have all of them in my fantasy team.

Tinnerholm's biggest pet peeve is that his crosses are really bad but if he improves them he has a fair chance to be one of the players to travel with the Swedish squad to Russia this summer. Now I don't know who NYCFC has as a right wing but I would say Tinnerholm will overlap while the right wing will focus cutting more inside the field. His work ethic is incredible and he can run for days.
Highlight reel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhcwrORAEyY

Berget is a very similar to Tinnerholm. Can play all over the midfield but is really a forward. Good speed and great work ethics, doesn't complain either. He's played all from wing-back to forward in Malmö. The negative I would say is that he's pretty mediocre at passing, dribbling and has a tendency to bury his head at some times. Good finisher in the box and good with his head are his main traits.
Highlight reel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5ka-We4xPQ

Eriksson, hates losing, considered a "dirty" player here in Sweden and will probably be hated by all the other teams fans but that only fuels him on to perform even better. The best player of the bunch and will hopefully be used as a striker by Stahre but can also be used as a winger. Real good finisher but has some issues with his temper and might see one or two red cards throughout the season.

Thanks for your insight. They all seem like very worthy additions to MLS.

Hopefully they turn out better than the last influx of Scandinavian players in Minnesota last year.

Thanks for the info. That lines up with what I've heard about him previously. Given the current set of players on the Quakes' roster, he's probably going to play on the wing.

The Alvbåge loan was a pretty bad one I agree. His career has been on a down spiral for quite a while. I'm a bit surprised that Schüller didn't make a bigger impact. He was okay at Häcken. The focus this year seems to have been bringing in players that are less technically gifted but rather hard working instead.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he'll do pretty good. I would say that the new coach Stahre is the best signing for the Quakes. I truly hope that the Quake fans don't expect attack minded football because it won't be pretty all the time but Starhe will manage to make them into a competitive team.

Excited to listen too that podcast! USSF is incompetent and lies about it... Guess they fit in just fine with current federal government lol. Too bad this failure is going to be front and center for the next 10+ years.. now that one of our brightest young talents is playing for our biggest rival for his whole career

He had over 20 YNT appearances for the US. USSF got cocky and assumed he was locked up and lied to try and cover their asses when he switched.

How were they expecting to get away with flat-out lying like that?

Also, Bill Simmons had a podcast with Kathy Carter last week, and I don't think he even brought up Jonathan.

Soccer Twitter is on another level tonight.

This is not another Pro/Rel thread like it might appear. It'll be worth your time.

And this thread by Faisal, one of the creators of the Nats Abroad account (If you aren't following them on TW/FB, you should, they do good stuff)

Two really incredible people/stories.

Between Trump's administration and the USSF failing while having this insanely misplaced ego - inspite of reality - We have our work cut out for us.

I think most of you are doing what you can already, but I'm leaving this link here if you'd like to do more for the Dreamers.https://www.dreamerpledge.org/

Still listening to the first part of the pod with Bob. Starting to heat up.

Also, wanted to put this here as well as it's significant for a few reasons other than the obvious NYCFC losing a good player:

Oh wow, this is pretty significant for the league as a whole. I bet NYC is not happy about having to split the transfer fee, and I wonder if we will see a significant rule change with regards to external transfers this season. I predict the rule change will come in summer just in time for Almiron's $25 million sale to Europe.

Probably going to Barca B, but it's still a major move. Not convinced he'll make the cut in Europe though; seems like another Hanson Boakai situation, frankly

New Timbers secondary kit

You fuckers are fast, goddamn. As for the kit, I like it, but it's a little simple for my liking. Very clean.

Pretty sure he did this last year too, but yeah. I'd be scared as hell. Ha.

Anyone know anything about this dude?
He's not bad. Keep in mind that the Cosmos are one of the few lower tier teams, if not the only one, able to give MLS sides a run for their money without having to go full bunker.

Yeah, I know that much about them. But sometimes NASL teams have had guys on their squads that can easily be picked up by MLS teams. This guy is obviously one of them.

Small update on the Crew-to-Austin stuff:

It's not going quite as planned.

Austin offered up 5 potential sires to Precourt and Co., then didn't hear anything back on them until a letter from Austin City Council went public about it.

PSV turned down the St. Johns/I-35 and Travis Expo Center sites, which left three: Butler Shores (the preferred choice downtown), Guerrero Metro Park, and a third site in an industrial/commercial area near The Domain.

Except now there's the possibility the two parkland sites are going to get pulled, leaving just the one offer from the city. Which PSV, who has thrown everything into Butler Shores, is apparently unprepared for.

tldr, it's an absolute shitstorm and the most vocal Austin MLS supporters on social media are now spending their days attacking #SaveTheCrew and Columbus as a whole because they think we are faking all the opposition to the stadium sites from here.

Good. This whole move was bullshit from the start. If Precourt wants an Austin team let him sell the Crew and buy an expansion slot like everyone else.
