Surprised at how complex chun is to learn.
Chun Li was the first character I tried to main.

It didn't last long.

She's fun but I can't play a character where I'm utterly unable to consistently execute one of her main tools (instant air legs).

Fighting a lot more Eds in AE and all I have to say about that is Ed's theme song is an insult to Street Fighter.

IAL isn't too bad for me, one of her bnb's tho... can't get the sbk ender (crLP, stMP, crMK sbk)

Annoying.

I hated Abigail when I saw how stupid his hurtbox are.

Now his lights are faster so now he's at advantage after his Abigail punch

I just use stage themes ever since Ring of Pride released. Imagine the rare opportunity to play a match there and then having to hear Laura's theme or something.

Don't feel bad, it's probably the most difficult bnb in the game. Took me months before I could get it. The cr.mk xx sbk is a very late cancel. You just have to get the timing right.

Make sure you are down charging as soon as you hit MP otherwise you've messed up the rest already. After the crMK hits, wait until you see her leg start to withdraw then do the sbk. It's much easier to do LK SBK, but the MK SBK is the one you want to be using.

people hating on Abby.

How? he's the best newcomer in series to date. So much fucking fun.
I like how this point can apply just as easily from a balance perspective as well haha. Can't wait to watch Poongko vs whatever top player picks up Abby at EVO grand finals this year lol.
Japan has been convinced that Gief is high tier since at least S2. Not sure if it's because they have Itazan over there or what.
Japan's always overrated Zangief. Probably Itazan trauma.
Itazan would definitely have that effect.

So I'm pretty trash at this game and I struggle with a lot of match ups. Played about 200 matches with Sakura and I'm sure my win ratio is probably close to 30-40%. A couple matchups give me a lot of trouble. Nash, Bison, and Ibuki in particular. They always did, so I find it's probably my own personal weaknesses as a player. Anyone play Sakura enough to know good ways to shut them down? Or just general tips with her in general? Footsies seem to be pretty key with her.

Almost clawed my way back up to Silver with her after dropping all the way down to Bronze from Super Silver. Wanna make it a personal goal to get to Gold with her because I'm enjoying playing her a ton.

He's this season Urien, getting a bunch of crazy buffs..
Yeah, when I started to learn Abigail in early December (before the patch notes came out), I was thinking that it was a bad idea to learn a new character so close to an update. And once I realized how good he really was, I thought "there's no way he's coming out of this without some major nerfs"...

I encountered several mid level players that did nothing but light low kicks lol.

Is there a reason for that?

I mean what do they actually learn by doing that? yeah, it's fast and I can still counter it easily with a hard attack. Or is it that they're just trying to program their turbo buttons or something?

It took me regular practice for weeks before I could reliably pull off Chun's SBK BnB and her IAL. I'm currently trying to shake the rust of IAL now that it's useful again in S3. To add to Jaded's advice above, when you cancel c.MK into SBK, instead of a straight down-up motion, try doing a forward-half circle from down to up. That way if you failed to charge enough for SBK, the game will autocorrect your inputs into lightning legs so at least you'll end the combo with something.

If they did nothing but light standing kick, then it's just a turbo button set to LK. Just boosting for the XP you get from a loss. Pisses me off because they're wasting so much electricity for like a buck or two worth of FM.

Ok wow I think this game needs some fixing on PC.

So I get pretty much 60 fps everywhere now with some tweaking, except the Akuma stage and another one I get 30-50 fps. The thing is on the stages where it works fine I have ~86% GPU usage, but on the "bad" stages it hovers only around 55% GPU usage, so no surprise it doesn't run well.

Can someone else with issues confirm this or at least check GPU usage?

In my experience demanding games should use like near 100% GPU in game, so clearly it looks like SFV is poorly optimized (if at all).

I mean, there's literally nothing about Birdie that's in any way representative of the UK (other than him throwing trash all over the ground I guess).

I think he's hilarious and a great addition, same as Laura.
Eh, I'd have to disagree with you there. Birdie's got kind of an 80's UK punk thing going on. Granted, it was more apparent in his Alpha design, but a lot of that influence still tracks in his current look.

Laura's just designed to be titillating, and really has nothing going on in her design that's representative of where she's from at all. That said, I do really like playing her, and she was my main for a bit in Season 1. Gameplay-wise, I think she's a great addition.

I'm curious what spec your laptop is, but also wondering if you have a power profile setup on it that may be causing it to run poorly. I remember I used an older laptop perfectly capable of running SFIV but itwas stuck at 30fps (half refresh, in general) because of the default power profile, but even setting it to high performance didn't help. I had to make one from scratch.

Windows is fickle.

For what it's worth, I get rock solid 60 everywhere except for drops to the 50-55 range sometimes during match intros or endings - something I've always presumed is due to the game talking to the server before/after a match. This is both at 4K with a 1080ti and at 1080p on a 770.

She's wearing a Brazilian jiu jitsu gi in the colours of the Brazilian flag. It's hella obvious where she's supposed to be from.

Yeah, that much is obvious. But my main point is that they really could've tried a hell of a lot harder when it came to her design. Her gi isn't even accurate in terms of what women fighters in Brazil would wear. Someone made that point a few pages back...

Man all this hate for Abby and im over here just enjoying the shit out of playing him. I love how big and stupid he is. I will say though his lights are like so incredibly good right now that I can usually just mash the LP and beat quite a lot of stuff just with that alone. Be very surprised if he doesnt get balanced out later.

And Birdies gear isn't accurate to what an 80's British punk would wear either, especially his facial hair, necklace and the fleur de lis on his absurd collar..

They had he tie her gi a different way to save it being yet another fighter in a standard gi.

Capcom artists pretty much began and ended their Laura research by watching footage of the Rio Carnival parade. They saw those scantily clad dancers and said "That's what Brazilian women dress like!"

It's really weird to single out Laura. Very few Street Fighter characters are accurate representations of their nationality and/or fighting style.

The problem is it works fine for 90% of the stages and GPU usage is suddenly a lot lower in the stages where the framerate drops.

This isn't really the systems fault imo, it's a pretty obvious bug that happens only on some stages - hence I'm asking if other users with issues (which there are plenty) see similarly low GPU usage.

I like Laura's design and think she's sexy. My main problem was how they made her in Cinematic Story mode. She was such a lunatic. Turned me off to her as a character.
