How many folks with the B/C7 are experiencing banding issues then? Might just try and learn to live with mine, but it's definitely frustrating :(
I have it on my B7. It's only noticeable on certain specific content (very low brightness gray basically). Mines gotten a bit better since I've owned the TV.

From what I've seen it's worse on average for the 65" model compared to the 55". I don't think I've seen photos of one without it, but some definitely are better than others (mostly 55") and may not be noticeable even in demanding content. That being said, there's no perfect TV tech out there. Everything has quirks. OLED looks sooo damn good that I don't mind the minor imperfections.

When I got my B6, I had vertical banding right down the center and center-right of the screen. As I started watching content, it become extremely obvious. Especially in near dark scenes. I remember watching "The OA" on Netflix and the banding drove me nuts. One of the most noticeable areas for me was also playing Soma on the PS4. Right on the opening scene where the main character wakes up in his apartment, if you look up the roof is a greyish color and the banding just pops out. It was not something I could live with.

I pretty much had enough and called LG. They sent out a service tech who I proceeded to show that very scene in Soma and he agreed to replace my panel. It took about a week but the replacement was worth kicking up the fuss with LG over. I have since had the TV professionally calibrated and said calibrator said my panel was one of the cleanest he had seen in terms of panel banding on the LG sets and one of the better ones in terms grey scale calibration out of the box.

That having been said, I lucked out! You're playing the panel lottery no matter what but if you are not happy - call LG and see what they can do for you. Don't just "live with it". You paid good money for that TV and its on the manufacturer to ensure that they provid you with a satisfactory product. Push them to honor that commitment. In my experience, LG is very responsive to OLED owners.

Any reason why people are so concerned about banding? It's literally impossible to see even in the worst cases unless you whole screen is gray... The only time I notice it is when my Xbox X freezes for few seconds in dashboard and whole screen turns gray.

It's definitely not impossible to see. I notice it fairly regularly on my 65 B7 to the point where I'm considering requesting a replacement to see if it gets better.

On bright scenes, yeah it's almost impossible to notice. But dark scenes it's absolutely there and I'm someone who makes it a point to try and avoid looking for imperfections as much as possible.

That said I love the TV, but it is frustrating to pay for a premium product and have to deal with issues like this that weren't present in my much cheaper previous set.

Maybe it's not as bad on my TV. Or I just don't watch much content that has grays? I can't even think a scenario where I would have something on a screen that would make banding visible. Even ESPN Roku app which is notorious with the use of gray does not have any banding.

Any Sony XE93 / X930E owners here? I've been looking at this set but the 42ms input lag@1080p is putting me off. I'm no FPS player, but how noticeable is it in games like Dark Souls (parry timing, etc)?

I also notice they've included component input - I'd be tempted to connect my PlayStation 2. Has anyone here tried it via component, and did it look ok when upscaled?

They're not replacing this model, so the alternative would be to wait for reviews of the new XF90 / X900F and hope input lag is improved, or look to other manufacturers.

I don't think there's any other TV related video that entertains me as much. I love how they pay it straight! It's like a great SNL sketch. LOL

The fuck did I just watch
I'm laughing so much and I can't explain it at work

It's pure gold.

I don't think it's that noticeable in Dark Souls, I use Game Mode with my B7 which is 21ms most of the time but I did try other modes which are 60ms and only game I noticed it was Splatoon 2 with gyro/motion aiming, felt really bad. I guess can't really compare 42ms to 60ms though.

Oh, that's a pretty low brightness setting. Even lower than what I use. I remember using 17 brightness and didn't notice anything. I've begun raising my brightness now since I also watch with the lights on now. I don't think I want to actively look for it or else it'll bother me forever lol
I use max brightness on my X900E.

I think it looks great.

Does 35 not make the image really dark/dull though? I haven't lowered it so far down so might need to try this as I notice the ABL in games sometimes.
I don't have a problem with 35 being too dark. Even during the day with large windows open, it is bright enough to easily watch TV and play games.

If you ever watch Blade Runner 2049 or Arrival, better believe those 2 movies will put all the flaws of your panel on full display. Arrival especially is like a 2 hour gray slide.

Shouldn't it be much lower though? I believe the input lag for a 4K input is 26ms or so? And Pro and X upscale 1080p content to 4K, wouldn't that mean 26ms for the upscaled games too?

I have extremely light vertical banding on my B7, I literally only ever notice it when the screen is entirely light grey during loading on the Xbox dash. Even then it's very minor. Never noticed during normal content and I've owned it for nearly two months now. I think I got a good panel because I've never seen any hint of IR either. Despite my best intentions i still occasionally leave the screen on pause menus or dashboards for up to 30 minutes and have still never seen any IR upon resuming viewing.

You should still watch it, the movie is excellent. With that movie I didn't notice anything until my 2nd viewing and even then it's just a couple of scenes near the end.

Yeah, I'm close to hopefully finishing off an Atmos system, and was planning to watch for that, as I've read it's an excellent mix. I'm pretty much used to the bars showing up here and there anyway. Seems to be almost universal praise for the actual movie itself, despite box office performance. In the blade runner tradition i guess.

Bought the LG B7 OLED last night and it is absolutely blinding, haha. Still gotta mess around with the settings to get the best HDR picture quality possible on a PS4. Do people suggest following Rtings calibration guidelines?

I think I get a free 4K movie download with my purchase of my X900E. Any recommendations? I was thinking Dunkirk since it should look really good on my TV and is one of the Best Picture nominees I haven't seen.

If you don't see banding and/or tinting in Arrival, you've officially won the OLED panel lottery.

If you want something to show what your TV is capable of, Amazing Spider-Man 2 is always my choice.

Those settings value color accuracy (warm colors). No matter how much I tried using warm colors, they still look like piss filter to me. :) 100% of devices that I use have cool colors (phone, ipad, vita etc) so I strongly prefer cooler colors on OLED because it's hard to get used to anything else. Other than that their general settings are good.

Warm1 looks the best, imo. Warm2 is def too much. When Dunkirk starts to look greenish, I knew it wasn't right.

Thanks. I guess if it were really that bad, you'd hear more complaints about it from owners, and it depends on the game being played as you rightly point out.

I'd be playing on Pro, but doesn't the console still send a 1080p signal if a game has no 4K support? From what I've read, the television itself would need to process the signal / upscale to 4K, and this results in greater input lag.

Where did the free 4k movie download come from? Just purchased the 900e myself. Also, I thought Dunkirk was a really boring movie.

Hmmm I don't know about that, that would be unfortunate. Thankfully most upcoming games where input lag matters will output in 4K.

For SDR or HDR? For SDR, that would be way too bright for me. I keep max for HDR, which is really what you want. But, for SDR, I actually keep it at 10. If a room got pretty bright, I would maybe bump it up to 20 or 25.

I think it's a Sony movie you get, unless they've changed the deal since I got it. Wasn't an amazing selection to choose from. Spider-Man is probably the best one. That wasn't even out yet when I got mine, so I settled for Passengers.

Also, not sure if you have or are looking into a UHD Blu-ray player, but if so, get Dunkirk on disc instead of digital. The digital version has the IMAX scenes letterboxed. The disc uses 16:9 for the IMAX sequences (which is about 60% of the movie).

With purchasing my new X900E 65 inch sony, I would interested in purchasing movies via a streaming platform (or digital download). Anyone have good suggestions?

Not really interested in purchasing a UHD blu-ray player at this moment. Kind of sucks PS4 pro doesn't play them as I might consider upgrading to that. No interest in an xbox since I have a gaming pc.

This might be a long shot but does anyone own or have feedback on the Frame TV by Samsung? I'm not looking for the highest of high end TV's but rather aesthetics.

It's for everything. I haven't noticed it being too bright for SDR content.

And yeah that sounds right about the movie. I think it was limited to Sony films. I don't have a UHD Blu-Ray player. I want to invest in one eventually but I want a PS4 Pro first. I don't watch a ton of movies on my TV so I'd probably want to get like a Xbox One S or the X so it could pull double-duty for me as a game console too.

I would recommend signing up for MoviesAnywhere and getting an Apple TV 4K. Apple's 4K streaming is easily the best I've seen and I think MOST would be hard pressed to tell the difference with UHD Blu-Ray without seeing them side by side.

New update from Sony and Opportunity regarding Dolby Vision.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnar...em-update-sony-and-oppo-respond/#1f6847dd498a

Actually we already know Sony's response. Here's the Opportunity response:
"OPPO is working with Dolby and [chip maker] MTK to overcome this issue. We do not have a time scale as to when we will have a fix, but it is a priority."

And Forbes say:
So the good news here is that Oppo is clearly committed to delivering the necessary update to make its 4K Blu-ray players compatible with Sony's DV TVs. The bad news is that it's a collaborative process that appears to still be in its relatively early stages, with no 'end date' in sight.

I hope it's quick because I want to pull the trigger.

Literally the entire film. Most of the film is dark grey/above black where vertical banding shows the worst. BR2049 has a lot of scenes the same way.

LG replaced the panel of my C7 today because the vertical banding was distracting, and of course this one isn't any better. Seems like every OLED from LG has this problem to some degree, so I have to get used to it..
