Rudolph was a treat. All of her lines were comedy gold.

I agree that Tahani should have gotten credit for the way she answered her parents. And did anyone else thought Jason was really hot wearing that suit? Shame Judge changed their clothes, lol.

Excited for the finale! I wonder what'll happen.

Who says Tahani didn't get credit? She failed the test, but that doesn't mean her response wasn't earning her points for the Good Place.

I think the test is still not finished. Eleanor didn't get instructions how to pass her test, the judge lied to her to see how she would react in that situation, so I assume she also lied when she told Tahani she'd get to the good place if she didn't open any doors and just walked through the red one for example, I think Tahani would have "failed" no matter what. Had she not opened any door the judge probably would have claimed she was supposed to confront her parents.

They asked to be judged as a group and maybe that's what's happening, the individual tests were just a distraction.

What happens to the show if they actually make it to the real good place? Do they continue to be themselves, which causes some sort of rift with the goodie goodie people in the actual good place? That might be a fun dynamic to play off of... who knows...

Maybe this whole season has been another torture by Michael?
The whole helping them, bringing them to the good place etc is another crazy form of torture.

tbh I'd hate this twist and I don't expect it. So far the show has been wonderful about not reusing ideas and retroactively making the whole season a redo of of the first season would be a humongous disappointment. What's more is it would ruin all of Michael's wonderful character development this season.

I can't see them making it to the actual good place. At least not permanently. I'm predicting something that returns them to their "good place". Partly for practical out-of-show reasons: it is microscopically rare for a TV show to ditch their sets/locations entirely. And partly because I think it could engineer some stories: maybe the judge somehow gives them a path to establishing their own place, reviving the neighborhood and living in it, but in exchange they have to try and improve other people and themselves, and all the while the bad and good places are opposed to this new development and attempting to disrupt it.

But who knows. this show is so unpredictable and creative that it's impossible to nail down where we're headed next week and after.

I feel like the path they're going to take is that they get to the Good Place at the end of this season, discover that both the Good Place and the Bad Place are incredibly flawed from a human perspective, and spend the next season revolting against the status quo (eg humans should be able to improve themselves after they die).

I wonder how many seasons they have planned out, I'm honestly not sure how many seasons they can keep doing with this pacing, but I'll take as many as they're willing to give me.

Honestly I didn't think they had anything planed out after season 1, but season 2 really proved me wrong. I have no idea what they might do in season 3.

That wouldn't make any sense given what we've seen Michael do in the previous two episodes. If he was really still torturing them, he wouldn't have had to run from Shawn at the meeting (unless Shawn wasn't in on it and Michael was just doing it for the sake of doing it). Michael wouldn't have acted like he did when Shawn was interrogating him if he hadn't changed sides for real. I mean, it's not impossible that the show will pull that, but it would be a huge cheat and disappointment.

I think a fun twist that probably won't happen is if this is actually all Michaels torture.

One of my favorite jokes they've done is the tagline for season 2 being "How long can they keep this up?"

Tahani's sister should be dead by now. I supposed they'll run into her when they get to the actual Good Place in S3.

Honestly, Tahani did well with her parents. Maybe she wasn't supposed to have opened any doors but she really came to a realization. And once she left the room she went straight to the red door. Sure she was near the end of the hallway but she didn't look at any of the doors left.

I'm not sure how much longer they can go on but I still want to see where it goes.

I actually think the test was over, and Eleanor was actually the only one who passed since she cut the judge off before she could finish telling her she was the only one that passed.

I think the finale might actually be the judge still not deciding on taking them to the good place, but reveals that Eleanor did indeed pass, and she has to make a decision on going to the bad place, or be the only one to go to the good place and the others will try to convince her to go, even though she may not want to leave them behind, and it goes back and forth.

I do also see a scenario that maybe Eleanor will choose to go to the bad place with the other 3 since they've always been together since the start, and then she gives her spot to Michael to go to the good place, to pay him back for sacrificing himself earlier.

Oh, so many options, so many more days until it's out.

I honestly was expecting Amy Pohler to be the judge. I was so expecting it, and then Maya Rudolph.

Also, I find t peculiar they that they all bring up being caseless for 30 years. Shawn said it, and now she said it.

I think they may be in some sort of experiment, but more like a divine one and not some lowely demon trial run. Maybe even the bearded guy from the photo is the one who really is in charge, or maybe he's the only one in the real Good Place

Yep. 13 episodes. And then season 3!

There have been only 11 episodes so far in season 2, so I guess the finale is a 2 parter? Season 1's finale was a 2 parter.

I haven't loved the last few episodes since the hiatus, it feels like its barreling forward a bit too fast. Also didn't really enjoy Maya Rudolph as the judge, Amy, Tina Fey, Judge Judy, Judge Reinhold (yeah yeah) would have been perfect. Her constantly telling us how she watches contemporary TV shows felt super corny and more ad-libbed than well written, and this show's strength has always been how tight and condensed the writing has been. The last few episodes just felt a bit too scattered. Oh well, hoping for a good finale to send off the second season of this show. I did love the cameo of Bell's real life husband (Dax Shepard) in the previous weeks episode, super cute.

The season premiere this year was a two-parter. Last night's episode was #12.

Another theory: they will be allowed to go live back on earth with some knowledge gained, and will have to prove that they're better when they die next time. Could lead to another iterative episode where they die over and over.
The confusion is the premiere was a 2-parter which they state as 1 episode but in reality it was 2 episodes. Next week is the finale and it's only 30-minutes.
Well at the start of it it said chapter 14 & 15. I thought it was pretty clear.

I meant that streaming sites list the the 2-parter as one episode so they've had the wrong episode numbers all season. The Burrito was episode 12 but you have streaming sites listing it as episode 11, including NBC.com itself.

My PVR recorded a 5 minute episode of The Good Place a few hours ago and I was confused until I watched it. It was a really quick recap of what has happened so far followed by a preview of a new show (A.P. Bio) that starts next week then a piece of a scene from the season finale.

I know she accomplished a lot, but if I remember back in the flashbacks she was pretty terrible to Tahani. I would think she would be in the Bad Place as well, considering their strict policy.

I'm trying to figure out how far they can take this show. I love it, but I kinda want it to end after two more seasons.

Sending them back to Earth would be a jump the shark moment for me, and realistically, I'm not sure how long they can drag things out without it feeling forced.

I supose they'll end up in The good Place, but soon discover it's not what they imagined at all.

That's legit my fear for the series finale. They all end up having "near-death" experiences and everything they've been through never happened. But they end up trying to be better people. It just seems like a cop-out if they do all of that, but I half-expect it to happen.

Same. I want them to stay dead, forever, as dark as that sounds lol

After watching that short scene from the finale I know how I want the series to end whenever it does end.

I want the whole points system that humans are judged by to be overhauled and a huge Medium Place to be created for the majority of people. Whether that means the current cast goes to the Good or Medium Places or are even put in charge of the newly created Medium Place I don't care.

I like this theory, and it makes sense. It would be a logical way for the series to progress.

Binged the whole series over the last week. In love with it and anticipating the finale. I don't know how things are going to go but I am thinking the show can only go for another seasons, but we'll see what surprises the finale has.

My biggest disappointment this season has been a lack of bonding between Eleanor and Tahani. I ship them so hard. Eleanor is all but canonically confirmed bi at the very least. The lack of confirmed queer characters in the show has hurt, since the creator is making good strides with Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

My take on the ending is that they'll get reincarnated and they'll have a second shot on earth to make things right.

Edit: Which I see some people already thought. Maybe they'll get to the good place, but either way I don't think they'll be content with keeping the system how it is.

Don't know if she's really bi or joking. It's hard to tell because of her personality. Tahani is her opposite and I think she's just fascinated by her more than anything.

Wasn't one of the resets before this version one where the two of them wound up in a relationship?
