The new team rebalancing thing has a bit of an issue that BF2015 didn't have; in BF2015 you could only Partner up with one person into matchmaking, so you didn't really see the total deathsquads you see in this game. Since this game allows larger parties (up to 4?) I'm already frequently seeing the same 3-4 people who are all fucking monsters in the same squad and the game doesn't (rightly) break them up its leading to these ridiculous roller coaster lobbies where whatever team they are on just completely crushes the other team and the other team gets totally shit on. Before if you got on a really bad team you could just at least quit out, here it's a constant 50/50 which I'm not sure is better or worse? It's honestly probably worse for me because if we're gonna be real I'm pretty much always top 3 BUT I'm either playing solo or with one friend who is frankly not very good, so the game pretty consistently puts me on the team opposite the hardcore squad. Like, after playing with these changes yesterday and today I may be done for a while because my skill level is actually kind of fucking me in a weird way?

Also real talk population has to be an issue. I played a LOT of BF2015 (470ish hours) and the last 8-12 months of that game's life in most lobbies I would definitely recognize at least a couple of names. I'm already having that happen here in most lobbies. That...is not good.
A game should never split a party. That defeats the purpose.

I agree, that's why I said it rightly doesn't break it up. But as a result this creates a different problem where a squad of 3-4 really good dudes can totally run a lobby. It's a bit of a different problem than we had before, but it probably effects me more negatively then some folks since the matchmaking almost always tries to pit me against that squad but I don't have anyone else I'm running with soooo

I mean in theory the game should do a better job of matching skilled squads against each other but I don't think that's gonna happen lol

The Battle Point system certainly doesn't help and only contributes to one-sided teams. Winning = more points = more heroes/vehicles/wookies, etc. Which is exacerbated because for the losing team the opposite is true.

I never minded the token system in the previous game since it at least the vehicle tokens rewarded map knowledge (though I think the hero token locations should've been randomised), and anyone could grab them at any time. I don't see that making a return though.

They can't really implement a Battlefield type system for vehicles and other units in the current modes but maybe they could put in a cooldown to pace out spawning for more powerful units. Better players will last longer as a hero/vehicle without being overwhelming and players on the losing team won't be starved for points.

That said, I haven't played for a few days, so I don't know what the balancing is like now. Though my other wish is that they'd remove the 'play each map twice' crap they have going. I'd rather play all 12 maps once than 6 maps twice. If people want to play as Separatists on Theed, give everyone the option to choose their preferred side before the round starts. First in, best dressed. If too many want to play as one faction, pick players at random and move the rest to the other team.

Yeahhhhhhh, see stuff like this really fucks solo/duo good players because there's not really any good way to accommodate for things like that in matchmaking outside of significant changes that are not gonna happen. I'm gonna give it the weekend and see how I feel, but right now across 3 full nights of play I have felt actively punished for being top of the board solo as it's just consistently placing me against the top squad on the other side and there's just no competing against that.

I wish if nothing else it was like Halo/CoD etc where in the lobby/scoreboard you could see what players were partied up so I at least had an idea going in and/or if I had a chance at a decent rebalance on map change.

Played this for the first time in a while. The supercharged sentry got a big nerf to how long it can fire bullets. I'm not a fan of that change, I would often spray loads of bullets into AT-ATs to get several chances to use a hero. That might not be as effective now.

Yeah. They used to be perfect suppression units, but now it isn't even worth firing up the gun unless you know 100% you'll be connecting with something.

Matchmaking does have it's issues, which I think is even compounded by the tiered star card system. I group up because I have a better time playing with teammates looking to communicate and have a fun time. In CoD I think they had a multiplayer mode called mercenaries where you weren't allowed to group up. Maybe they could offer a mercenary (bounty hunter) Galactic Conquest mode? I think it might be worth trying for a week or two to see how interested people are.

I don't think we will get any new content until March or later.

Even with balance tweaks in the mean time, it's just not enough.

Oh man, I play on Xbox and I never even thought to use the looking for group function.
Well, maybe I'll give the others a go and see if they make up for it.
Mobile sentry is a waste of a card slot to me but explosive sentry was untouched by the balance patch and remains good. Only downsides are that you will get headshot sniped and heros can actually get to you now.

Its a shame EA got greedy with this game and originally designed the progression around MXT.

Its actually a pretty good game and now that they adjusted a lot of the values the unlocking isn't that bad. I still think level 4 cards at 480 parts is way too much though so they need to fix that.

The way it is now the progression system isn't that bad. You can grind out most guns and attachments a lot easier and you load up on crafting parts. Also goes to show how out of balance the game was originally and how it was designed around the MXT.

I've never played a DICE game where I thought, "Huh! This is not only well-balanced and fairly tuned, but is not frustrating to play in more than small bursts." Battlefield, Battlefront. Their balance and progression models are always completely wacked.

I'm watching A New Hope and it just dawned on me. There should be a night time variant for Yavin IV map and extenuate the big red planet above. Maybe have a red hue on the map. Looks good in my mind.

Now that I've beaten the campaign and played a good bit of multiplayer (Lots of Galactic Assault, a few rounds of Starfighter Assault), I have to say, I'm enjoying this game a hell of a lot more than I thought I would. The progression has its problems, sure, and I can definitely see how problematic the microtransactions would have been, but as it is now I think this is a pretty decent (though as I said, flawed) game. Holding down the palace on Naboo, storming the Rebel base on Yavin-4, and infiltrating the second Death Star have been very, very fun and cool moments for me.

I'm one of the weirdos who really likes the prequel era, so I hope a lot more content from that era is added soon. Regardless though, I'm totally in on this game, and I can't wait to see how it improves in the next few months.

If the emperor doesn't get nerfed into the fucking ground on the next patch (aka fix him being able to easily get back to full health and kill people through TWO FUCKING WALLS) I'm definitely done with this game for a while. Consistently I am having a good time with this game until you get matched against a good player who is running all epic cards as the Emperor on the other team which is virtually unkillable and single-handedly kills any fun I have.

The only way to kill a purple emperor right now is getting a good player to play as chewie and get lucky to shock him. Knowing dice in the next patch they will nerf chewie and keep the emperor the same.

Pretty much. I was watching really good Emperors clear 120+ kills all day today on certain maps, Naboo and Kamino probably being the biggest offenders.

I'm also recognizing 3+ playernames in almost every lobby I'm in now in GA. It took well over a year for that to happen in Battlefront 2015, and that was a game that had like 8 modes to play in. I'm kind of legitimately worried about what the playerbase must be like.

I've learned that Han's remote grenade absolutely destroys Palp's. Not only does it do massive damage, but it makes Palp stagger and from then on you can blast him to death

If you can see him, because i was on the last phase of endor and palpatine kept electrocuting us from behind closed doors and from the basement.
Could this be a bug or was intended to go through walls?

IMO it makes sense. Bespin art assets are basically done, Cloud Car from the campaign is done so there's a "new" vehicle to throw in too. Bespin as a season centerpiece would be underwhelming, but it's also a classic SW location so releasing it as a stopgap works nicely.

I wouldn't mind if they reused some of the maps from Battlefront 2015 if it meant a more steady stream of content.

I went on a 30 kill streak in Starfighter Assault the other day, hoping some of that new content is more maps to fly in!

i laughed (and cried) a little when i saw the X-wing vs TIE Fighter achievement pop up.

if SA was it's own game, I'd probably invest in a flight stick and throttle. :D

X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter has been at the top of my Steam wishlist forever, the only thing holding me back is the supposition that it doesn't play nice with a 360 controller.

Thankfully Darth maul's ship is popular and made of glass.

SA, like the rest of the game, has a tremendous potential to be a lot better than it is. The mode needs to be more dynamic. I always know what the objective will be, where it will be, flight paths, etc. It needs to be randomized and dynamic.

Apparently there's a youtube channel that definitely has some kind of inside source seeing as it has leaked a bunch of small stuff such as the night time tatooine version and craft content from the game before it came out and got it right. He/she has now posted a video of a bunch of Bespin concept art with a title that says "can't wait to..." If history repeats itself, it could mean we could see one or two of the older Bespin maps from the last game put into this game in February with the new jump trooper cargo mode. Fingers crossed.

I'd be down for a couple of the older Bespin maps. Those were pretty great imo. Loved Administrator's Palace and the iconic Carbon Freezing Chamber. On that note, I'd be down for them to add in more older maps in-between seasons tied to new game modes. Sounds fun.

All the matches I've played (mostly Blast) since the matchmaking update have been super close, all within 5 kills or so.
No more matches with a difference of 30-40 kills that I've been seeing pre-update.
Anyone else experiencing the same?
