Well, the ACTUAL title is "Shadow of the Colossus PS4: The Greatest Console Remake Ever?" - which simply poses the question. Nothing wrong with that.

It's one of the best remakes to date, I'd say.

Neither the article nor the video specifically say it's the best of all time.

These responses just remind me how much I hate titles. Like, I don't even write them and don't care about them. I wish there were no titles on there. Just please watch it!

Why does that disqualify it? This is a very substantial upgrade from that version.

I just watched this. I am beyond excited to relive this masterpiece. I just wish I had a Pro.

The image quality in this game looks insane. It gives sort of pre-rendered CG cinematic vibe..

Halo 1 & 2 anniversary are great too.

The OP's title is not the same as the article or video...

...but I would honestly place this remake above all of those. REmake might be its equal but the others? Not even close.

As I say in the video, though, it's all just a matter of opinion and nobody can truly define what is the BEST one - which is why I don't say that. Personally, though, I do feel it's one of the absolute best - alongside things like REmake. This is why the article is titled "Shadow of the Colossus is one of the best remakes of all time" - because it IS "one of the best"

Halo 2 Anniversary is up there for me - one of the best for sure. I don't think Halo 1 Anniversary is very good, though. I hate the art changes and it has terrible frame pacing problems and slowdown on its original platform. It's better on Xbox One but still not where it should be. H2A, though, was fantastic.

Oh I meant views for this thread, not the video! The video's title is fine. Sorry didn't mean to mock your guys' work in any way as I love it.

Does it even have anything new gameplay wise? Can't see it beating out REmake.

Unless they've added a bonus Luigi Casino mini games, I'm going to hold fast on calling this is the best remake of all time

It's a great video and gets me very excited for the game, but I do agree that Digital Foundry's output is so strong that I would hope their work would speak for itself without need for a clickbaity title to entice. I'm already enticed by knowing its going to be high quality.

I still say Conkers Bad Fur day on the OG XBox is the best remake, that game looked better than some X Box 360 and OG Xbox remake of Dead Or Alive 2, Dead or Alive ultimate is hard too beat too

Clickbait is garbage. It's designed to get you to click on something with no payoff for the one that clicks on it. It never answers a question or provides any value. It's worthless.

Posing a question and then providing a solid answer and entertainment, though, is not the same thing. Not even close.

Conker is fantastic, no doubt, but the loading screens that pop up constantly drove me nuts. It's the one black mark on an otherwise great job.

While technically excellent, the remake seems to have lost a lot of the present atmosphere in Ueda games, the colours are a lot more vibrant and the foggy misty is pretty much gone.
Considering The Last Guardian follows a similar visual style to the original SotC, I think it's a shame the remake of SoTC didn't look at The Last Guardian for more visual inspiration.

Hoping one of the filters allows the remake to look closer to the original.

REmake, Tomb Raider Anniversary, Lunar 2 Eternal Blue, Crash Trilogy...

People's idea of clickbait has broadened over time. Any amount of flavor added to a title gets people yelling about "clickbait"

PS4 will be in absolute beast mode this year. My goodness.

Has anything been added to the game, or is it just prettier? I like it when remakes actually introduce new mechanics, something that freshens up the gameplay; brings an aging game to the current generation.

Well, I only got back to work two weeks ago and have been slammed with new stuff to cover. Plus, I'm dealing with a lot of depression issues and feeling bad lately so it's been really hard getting back into that groove. Lots of stuff in the works, though, but it takes time to get rolling.

Yeahhhhh, no. The look and feel of the game is completely ruined in this remake as far as I'm concerned. The Team Ico aesthetic is totally unique, whereas this just looks like a generic Unreal Engine 4 tech demo or something.

EDIT: Don't mean to slam Bluepoint's work or this video, but as a fan of Team Ico's games, I would've appreciated a more faithful adaptation. Honestly, I don't feel this remake was even necessary, I would've been happier with a port of the PS3 version.

really curious to hear what Ueda thinks of this, if he hasn't already commented on the remake

Give it a try first. I swear, I went in thinking the same thing but the atmosphere is amazing. It drew me in more than the original. I never expected it.

I really appreciate your work John and trust your perspective on these things so I'll definitely give it a shot. Can't help but feel a bit apprehensive about it though. :/

eh.... to me it's more like a high budget remaster....

everything is the same, they didn't changed the game in itself except the graphics

IT IS NOT MANIPULATIVE. Fuck me this is insane. Titles can go burn in a fire. I can't deal with this shit. All that effort and people only care about that stupid title which I didn't even write.

And, no, I did not forget Super Mario All Stars. I think this is better big time.

The original SMB games all play great with or without the visual upgrade.

No surprise to see the Nintendo avatars on the attack once again. It's a tad pathetic at this point.

It looks great, don't love how they changed the art style though.

When I first heard about performance mode I though it's going to be usual sometimes 60 but mostly in high 40s/low 50s ''60 fps'' mode but it seems they actually managed to pull almost rock solid 60fps mode. Damn.

I think I will have to buy it...
