They're still paying him tons of cash, but I can see not wanting to waste a DP spot on someone his age.

Yeah, absolutely. It's just bizarre that we're at the point now, as a league, where a not-very-big-name Romain Alessandrini is taking up a DP spot over a huge global name like the Zlatan Ibrahimovic. I could've never envisioned we'd be at this point 3 years removed from Frank Lampard lol

This is going to get the Galaxy back on track. Zlatan will run wild in MLS even at his age, I think.

I mean, he was going wild in the Premier League until that knee injury. If the Galaxy can get a half-decent midfield behind him then he's going to murder most of the league.

Was the friendly earlier worth watching? Or can i get by with quick twitter impressions? Probabaly the least interested I've been for a US Soccer friendly in the last decade or so.
Going to be a long year :/

It's good to take in the individual skills of Ike Opara, Matt Zimmerman, Tyler Adams, Rubio Rubin, and Paul Arriola. As a soccer match in general or even as a collective effort from our squad it was terrible and kinda all meaningless until after the election and coach is sorted at the least.

That is Pretty much the way of things for the next... forever.

Yea, none of these matches matter at all until a new coach is found. All they're good for is trying out new talent and getting some international miles on young guys like Adams.

When they finally hire someone, then it'll be worth tuning in. Until then, MLS pre-season has begun and the Champion's League is coming up. So get hyped for all that.

Miami announcement is official.
The long wait is finally over: Major League Soccer on Monday officially granted Miami an MLS expansion team.

The announcement was made at an event held in Miami's Adrienne Arsht Center, featuring the club's ownership group comprised of local and global entrepreneurs who have an agreement in place to build a world-class soccer stadium: global soccer icon and former MLS player David Beckham; Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure, SoftBank board member and longtime Miami resident and entrepreneur; Jorge and José Mas, the Miami-based leaders of telecommunications and construction giant MasTec; Masayoshi Son, founder and CEO of SoftBank; and entertainment entrepreneur and manager Simon Fuller.

"It is with tremendous pride that we welcome Miami to Major League Soccer," MLS Commissioner Don Garber said in a league release. "With David Beckham, Marcelo Claure, Jorge and José Mas, Masayoshi Son and Simon Fuller leading the way, we know the right people are in place and the time is right for Miami to become a great Major League Soccer city. This ownership is committed to bringing Miami the elite-level soccer team, stadium and fan experience it richly deserves. We look forward to working with the entire organization on a strategic and successful launch for Miami's MLS club."
Kinda weak that there isn't more information right now:
Additional news and information on the club – including its debut season in MLS, team name, logo and staff – will be announced in the future.

I hope they incorporate pink somehow, but it will never happen.

Also, in sad news, Cameron Porter retired today. His goal for Montreal against Pachuca is one of my favorite ever MLS goals

This bit from Beckham: https://youtu.be/vOCfDhJUeYg?t=3199 along with this: https://youtu.be/vOCfDhJUeYg?t=3354. had me yelling in public. If anyone can make a positive impact on that front, it's him. With how convoluted this process was, sticking with it and getting it through. With how complicated development acadamies can be to setup and run properly in this country combined with his experience on that front has me legitimately excited for what they can eventually do.

Also:

Lol.

Timbers have signed Cristhian Paredes, a 19 year old box to box midfielder from Club America. Really glad our team is getting younger.

Got my LAFC scarf in the mail over the weekend. Weather too hot recently to wear it out. Still need to get my tix though.

Another Malmö player seems to be heading to MLS. This time it's Magnus Wolff Eikrem that's headed to Seattle Sounders.

The best ball player of the bunch coming from Sweden but needs a special made role for him. Pretty weak psychically but a wonderful touch and passing ability.

I hope the US keeps Cherundolo in mind as a potential coach someday. He was a model pro and it seems like his coaching career is going well, too.

Roldan had the worst first touch I've ever seen from a professional soccer player. I think the ball bounced 10 feet away from him.

Who could have foreseen Morris and Zardes not creating anything as wingers?

Damn, OCSC throwing Cyle under the bus with that statement! Looks like they may get compensated with any future deals though.
They probably wanted to keep him for another season. Add him into that attacking set of players and Orlando makes the play-offs easy.

Any updates on that? Last I heard the ownership pulled out of the stadium site they were interested in.

Not much. Little going on publicly in Columbus.

PSV backed out of their Butler Shores site due to opposition and are now refocusing on Guerrero Metro Park in East Austin or a second site near The Domain in an industrial park. Surrounded by businesses. With the remaining non-city-owned land allocated for building apartment buildings in the future.

Guerrero is likely the next flashpoint in the stadium search. If they were set on McKalla Place/The Domain, it'd be over and done with by now.

My team is playing a friendly against New England Revolution this weekend in Florida. Does anyone have anything to say about them? Any player I should keep an eye on?
