"Aside from Labo, we've also prepared other ways of expanding ways to play on the Nintendo Switch."
Labo is only the beginning of a vast campaign to expand the reach of the Switch to more than just core gamers, it seems. Nintendo is already preparing multiple other products that will likely be revealed at a later date.

Thanks Fukuzatsu for the translation.

Update :
https://www.wsj.com/articles/ninten...on-for-popular-switch-game-console-1517390610

To keep the momentum going, Mr. Kimishima said the company wanted to appeal to a wider ranger of customers, including children, their parents and hard-core gamers. In January, the company announced "Nintendo Labo", a do-it-yourself kit that icnludes carboard attachments to the Switch console such as a piano keyboard. Mr Kimishima said more is on the way.

People familiar with the development plans said new peripheral hardware devices for the Switch are planned, without elaborating.

I can imagine using the Joy-con in creative ways and even without using the screen too much similarly to 1, 2... Switch.

Wii Fit successor which will be used with the QoL device.

Labo is great for kids (and kids at heart), they still need an other brand to attract adult casual players.

I still think a venture into board games that include the switch might be very profitable indeed

Lightgun please. Pleeeeease.

VR could and should have filled that gap but so far there isn't a single VR shooting game with the production value of Time Crisis 3 or L.A. Machineguns. Even if the Switch isn't powerful enough to do VR, I'd still love to play high quality lightgun shooters like Sin and Punishment 2 on Wii.

Howabout Nintendo play dough called Nintendough where you mold characters and items and have the IR scanner on the joy-con scan it in game?
Million pound idea, lads.

Yeah, bring it on. Not everything's for me but I just want to see the crazy ideas they can come up with, if Labo is the start.

I like Nintendo go nuts, but I also like their "traditional" experiences (as do 9 million odyssey owners apparently). As long as they can maintain support for both markets I'll be very happy.

Yes, I know this is actually Tongo, but the image worked better compared to the Dabo table. :P

They'd better include a Chibi Robo that does chores and runs on *Joy-con.

Inserting a Joy-con in the Chibi Robo consumes the Joy-con, you will need to buy more Joy-con to keep enjoying your Chibi Robo.

Sure, I've no problem with that....until poor execution or insisting on mechanics in the name of differentiation and innovation ends up harming their software.

considering they doubled their dev workforce by merging handheld and console studios in 1 machine, maybe this stuff is made by the 3DS teams that wouldn't need to make games the console teams were doing already. on Wii they were lacking the manpower and that's how we ended with a 2008 holiday situation.

In the future there will only one department, which will research hardware development instead of two (since the Switch combines handheld and console gaming), so Nintendo has enough resources to have them explore new ways of playing with the Switch and still have enough developers working on more traditional games.

A peripheral that allows you to draw Mario Maker levels and have them appear in the game in real-time.

Bank it.
