You really don't want to fuck with the people who dig up dirt all day long which makes this pretty fascinating.

Dairy farmer vs the entire IC (and most likely some friendly foreign agencies as well)

Place your bets.

Now this is interesting.

Mueller's appointment letter granting him prosecution authority does not require that he prosecute the crimes he discovers immediately. Accordingly, if the Mueller investigation yielded evidence that Trump committed a crime, Mueller would be entirely within his mandate to prepare a report setting out his findings and recommending that Trump be indicted as soon as he leaves office.

Fascinating article.

Trump seriously can't be thinking of attacking NK. Would that castrate the Republican Party?

A war with North Korea is a loss for the United States, full stop. We attack North Korea, they attack South Korea, mass casualties, Japan/SK/Australia/US all invade, China (likely) and Russia (probably) declare war on the coalition attacking NK, and we've got WWIII.

The correct way for the United States to take NK down a peg, would be to cozy up to China and get China to put pressure on them. Keep running disinformation campaigns in NK, airdropping information from the outside world into the country, and over time the people will reject Kim Jung-un. Unfortunately we're just going to bomb them and start World War III, and possibly get a densely populated ally nuked in the process...

Not sure what to make of Rick Wilson, because good lord does he retweet sketchy accounts (menschites) and I don't know how many of his teases have actually panned out. I'm half inclined to think he's mostly a grifter who pretends to know more than he does to raise his profile and make $$. His buddy John Schindler/@20committee is now charging people (1.3k of them) $10 a month to follow his twitter account, for chrissakes.

Fingers crossed for a Hope Hicks/Jared Kushner/Don Jr./Steve Bannon round of indictments.

And here's the thing, Trump himself doesn't even need to be indicted. If every single person around him goes down, it means he was either complicit in what they were doing, or so woefully inept he didn't realize everyone close to him was consorting with Russian actors right under his nose.

I don't recall Wilson ever teasing something that didn't pan out. The one everyone points to is the dossier tease, which just ended up coming out later than people wanted rather than not at all (he never predicted a date on that). I also don't think him retweeting Schindler sometimes makes them best buddies or whatever.

Yeah I know people hate the "booms!" But they've kept hope alive for me (in between actual bombshells and leaks) so for me it's worth a little hyperbole. It's been a rough year and it's hard to keep it all from getting you down. The occasional gossip like Twitter stuff is suitable in my mind as long as you don't get carried away reading it

Konoha
Cops can and do let people go all the time in violation of the law. That is literally how racially biased justice works.

Even under a Democratic President, the business of ICE is evil, with only one exception.* People voluntarily choose to become immigration agents. I have no sympathy for them. They should choose not to enforce the immigration laws.

* customs
Catching illegal immigrants who are criminals is evil? Are you talking from an open borders prospective ie enforcing immigration laws are wrong or them just braking up families etc etc?

we probably won't know for months what exactly this ghost knows about today. 'about to get real' means 'indictments all the way up' to me.

Booms are the best. There will be no greater feeling than when Trump is stripped of the presidency and kicked out of the white house and then his entire cabinet is gutted to remove the trash.

Well, most of his teases are just vague "there are rumors something is going to happen soon", which is both useless and uninformative, and also something you can always take credit for after-the-fact since we're in a hell where bombshells drop at least once a week if not on a daily+ basis.

Wasn't his wife doing his job last year? Nothing with that guy surprises me

e: This is the article I was thinking of

The whole family is sucking up our taxes now

The warnings highlight the extent to which Carson has relied on close family members since joining the Cabinet. His wife, Candy Carson, son Carson Jr. and daughter-in-law Merlynn Carson have attended official meetings, according to current and former HUD officials. Early last year, Candy Carson accompanied her husband around the building and to official meetings both inside and outside HUD, officials said.

Carson Jr. has continued to attend official HUD events with his father and other elected officials, including during the secretary's October trip to Baltimore's Helping Up Mission, a faith-based group that helps men facing addiction and homelessness.

This is just a distraction from the Ben Carson ethics scandal that broke a few hours ago.

Mr. Gifted Hands, "Jesus is My Buddy," Narcolepsy sufferer Ben Carson? Say it ain't so! /s

Just goes to show that anyone Trump touches turns into a money-grubbing, corrupt pile of shit. Just about the entire cabinet and most of the Republican leadship is trash. Sopranos-level inept gangsters.

This country is lost. I'm not sure how we come out of the hole we are in.

I was in California and this guy mentioned how DiFi's husband is getting the contract for the LA-SF high speed rail. I just nodded along since I don't know about that project with that kind of detail. Turns her husband had invested in the company... in 1997... and sold of his stock in 2005. Years and years before getting that contract. Information on this is very sparse, and pretty much only right wing blogs come up with anything about it.

Reminds me of about a year ago, someone on my Facebook posted a rightwing macro image about some coffee company announcing they would hire 10,000 veterans in response to Starbucks announcing they would hire 10,000 refugees. Took me literally 5 seconds to think, "I'm going to google 'Starbucks hire veterans' they're a huge company I'm sure they do that." Yep. Starbucks had announced hiring 10,000 veterans several years before, and more, they were well on track to hit that number.

People literally do not want to be properly informed.

I have a job where I can unplug and be done for the night. Losing that ability here was an interesting lesson.
Yea, I had to learn that I have step away each night after a certain point. I'd go crazy if I didn't carve out a few hours for myself away from modding.

Mad respect to you for being able to say you need to step away and doing it. Was a lot of fun working with you.

This is why I hate working from home. Never get to leave work
That's another thing I had to figure out, though I did that years ago. Gotta treat it like a 9-5 (or 10-6 or 11-7) otherwise you'll burn out.

I don't really buy that China or North Korea would attack the US over North Korea. It's not worth it to them.

If we attack North Korea it'll be devastating for South Korea and/or Japan, and the US's standing on the world stage will be destroyed. But there's no reason for either of those major nuclear powers to enter into a mutually destructive war over it. If WW3 ever happens it'll be because of a direct affront on one of those nations which leaves them no choice. Nobody wants their entire country to die on behalf of a minor ally.
