I know people are sick of me criticizing the game, but I'll say this much:

Destiny 2 feels like its made for people who hated Destiny 1. So for devoted players of D1, it feels like a huge betrayal from Bungie

As I said multiple times on discord to you. The way you think and react about the game is not healthy at all. Not for you nor for your entourage. You generalize reddit as the real thing while most of the player base do not care and if they do, game been out a couple of months only. Changes will happen. No need to be even more trash vocal about it here. IMHO reddit is your goto home. If you want to be vocal do it with reason. Explain in depth why you think D2 is made for the D1 haters, why it affects you and why you feel betrayed by bungie.

*sighs* None of you still understand, do you? :(

Y'all wanna make me cry

Why is that? Is it because we refuse to join you in feeling "betrayed" by an electronic toy or insist that a bunch of developers lose their jobs because said electronic toy isn't as good of an electronic toy as you want it to be?

It's possible this is the case, because I like D2 a ton more than D1, outside of some glaring issues that are still fixable. I thought a lot of what D1 was trying pre-Taken King was just plain not good. After Taken King, I enjoyed the game a lot more, but still found the game to be a huge grind, but not in a good way.

Destiny 2 over steered in certain aspects, and oversimplified certain things (some good, some not so good). I certainly like the base game a hell of a lot more than base Destiny 1.

My issue is that Destiny 2 offered easier ways to get loot, which is great, but without a truly diverse or particularly large loot table. That's an issue, that rears its head in multiple ways (eg. lack of overall longevity, constant duplicates, no real reason to do certain pieces of content due to gear redundancy).

I do think part of it has to do with balancing gear to meet balance in Crucible. I wouldve been happier had they kept the mad-cap perks for exotic gear and weapons, but made said perks only activate in Crucible, or only activate in PvE, depending on what said perk is. That way you get your crucible gear with its cool perks that work in crucible, and you get your PvE gear that has crazy perks that don't affect balance in Crucible.

Then, even if you have your PvE gear that's largely the same power and stat between Nightfall, Raid, Vendors, etc., you can differentiate with niche perks that help especially in the path you received them from (eg. an exotic NF perk that rotates elements on your power weapon to meet Prism, or an exotic Raid perk that gives you the ability to do...something cool that's specific to the Raid).

This is especially an issue for armor over weapons. While I think weapon perks right now are pretty boring, non-exotic armor just has no perks. Outside of cosmetics, there's no real reason to build an Iron Banner set, a Raid Set, and a Exploration set. (I do that anyway, because I love dressing up paper dolls)

Add some cool little perks to gear, AND add the ability to make sets that I can switch to quickly with a click, and I'm a happy camper.

Just my two cents. A lot of it can be added and changed with time, and they're clearly watching.

It's kind of insane how fast this game dumps you with weapons, at least in the early game. And it's especially weird because I want to sample a bunch of different weapon types for PVP, so by the time I actually start playing that, I'm going to have a HUGE cache of guns to mess around with, even if they're just low level trash in the PVE that I barely touched because the game leapfrogged them so fast.

And some of the purples they dump on you, even in the intro, are legit good in PvP. Origin Story, Nameless Midnight, Uriel's Gift and Nightshade are all great guns for PvP, and the game throws them at you.

Quick and easy way to fix Destiny 2:

Just give me more loot to chase, in the form of exotics that are actually exotic, strike specific gear, more planetary gear (how about Prestige Lost Sectors with their own loot, huh?), raid and Trials gear with perks that aid me in those activities, ornaments from doing raid challenges or going flawless, fewer re-skins and loot with multiple mod slots. Speaking of mods, make it so they actually do something and make a noticeable difference. Allow me to add Snap Shot or Outlaw to whatever gun I want. Make it so I can craft the mods I want without RNG getting in the way, making me waste glimmer. As for armor, give me more control over how I manage my stats. And while you're at it, let armor mods have perks too. Oh, and for fuck's sake, let us mix and match our subclass skills. Lastly, Prestige nightfalls should give you a guaranteed exotic, plus Prestige activities should have their own tokens and allow us to exchange legendary shards and other materials with vendors (the latter is said to happen, thank goodness). None of those things would be difficult to implement.

Edit

Oh, where are the ships, sparrows and ghost shells for the raid and Trials? If Bungie is so hell bent on giving us cosmetics, let me EARN them in end game activities. Also, raid emblems should track completions too.

And with 2017 being a dumpster fire (At least politically), I had high hopes that Destiny 2 would ease my state of mind and would be the game that I'll play tons of hours every day due to my stupidity of leaving Destiny 1 behind for 2 years.

And as you can see, it did not deliver and made me upset a lot to the point that even thinking about it makes me angry.

You don't have to agree with me and I know my methods of criticism are way overboard, but I need you to understand why Destiny 2 disappoints me a whole lot.

You can suggest me to play other games, and that's fine, but it'll only put salt into the wound for me.

Yeah, I have no idea why the raid emblem doesn't track completions, unless the prestige raid one is the one that does, like the NF emblem you get from prestige.

Is there really no Raid ship or sparrow? I figured I'd been unlucky, but after getting almost all the Raid guns and all the Raid armor for my warlock, i never saw anything of the sort drop.

Prestige and challenge emblems don't track shit. Plus, they're not even legendary either.

But Public events. Let's track that. Some Iron Banner emblem that everyone has is legendary, because why not.

Being a fan of this game, is like being in a relationship with someone who has incredible potential, intellectually and physically. You know they could easily be better with relatively little effort. What's heartbreaking is that their logic is counterintuitive and they constantly act against their own interests. They fail to see how special they are and don't take your support or feedback seriously. They tune it out and disregard it as baseless criticism. But, you stick with them, because you love them, hoping that one day they'll be what you know they can be.

Everyone has their own shits to deal with. And many are in quite deep shit but they reason. At least you are conscient about your reaction and how vocal you are.
Played the game (D1) from beta to finish. Once I was done with content I would redirect my atention to other things. Return when something new was happening. If something was not fun I would leave it and find another thing to do. If I could, leave feedback about it. D1 had a ton of problems and they showed to care for it. For or against the playerbase.

D2 did not deliver is some aspects yes (there is a big list) but in others it totally surpassed. Changes are hard to accept. I do welcome them. I see it as a brand new experience with continuity on "story, plot and lore". A newly experience a couple months old. New engine, reworked team, new leads, change of horizons, etc... I will be here to see if changes will be made.

You see it as a total chaos and failure. I do not understand. Too many times tried to see your point of view but it goes round and round and round ( spins and spins and spins over itself = if you are a flat Earth believer). I stopped giving your posts the importance they once deserved.

True, but I constantly complain because I feel Bungie doesn't value the impact that Destiny made on their fans or what their players truly want. It feels like Bungie don't care at all and that hurts a lot. And its not like I'm alone feeling that way.

But its gone too many times to the point where its its time to stop, so I'll stop right here.

I'll take it to PMs if you wanna talk further[/spoiler\

Hot take much?

If anything its a rebooted hybrid of old and new ideas

Its ambiguous. It has pros and cons just like D1 did. Its more apt to compare it to Taken King launch since I feel like thats the closest comparison

I'd go a step further and say Taken King was a better all round experience than D2 is. D2 blew my mind in the first week but the drop-off has been incredible since then. I haven't logged on in over a week and have no intention to until the DLC drops now. I was playing Taken King (and vanilla) for months.

I can get behind this though I like the Leviathan raid far more than Taken king

Also Levianthan guns are legit better :p

But yeah Taken King was MEATIER than D2

However it was some vanilla release in a vacuum. And Vanilla D2 is going to evolve faster than D1 did

So for a Vanilla effort (even though it shouldnt have been a strictly vanilla effort at launch) its pretty decent

Destiny 1 with two DLCs and a years worth of patches + Taken King content = yeah, it's meatier.

Destiny 2 will literally be 2 months old in a couple days. On PC it's not even two weeks old.

I need to be overly sarcastic for a moment. Ahem...

SHOCK HORROR, DESTINY PLAYERS WHO PLAYED D2 EVERYDAY FOR CLOSE TO TWO MONTHS ANNOYED THAT THEY HAVE RUN OUT OF CONTENT. 3 x 305 CHARACTERS NOT ENOUGH.

I actually have a legit question. I'm sitting at 272 right now but my legendary drops are stuck at 265. How do I get beyond this?

You're not the only one who plays games for mental health Hawky. It's not making it a "safe space" to say that people are tired of you making your personal grievances out as applying to the whole community when it plainly doesn't and making Bungie out to be some malicious and somehow simultaneously incompetent force. And then, you keep doing it. We've heard. We understand. Move on.

Now, moving on.

Same. Some tweaking needs to be done but overall I like that it doesn't take up my entire life.
I'm almost in the same exact boat. 2100 hours in D1, love the design of D2, and I'm only playing one character. There is more than enough to optimize and chase for someone who works full-time or more. Milestones, challenges, treasure hunts, meditations, raid, nightfall, prestige modes, raid challenges, and that's aside from general roaming public events, lost sectors, and adventures, and the way they string seamlessly together. This game has a great rythym to it.

derp. sorry, I meant multiple times on the same character.

Like, I was interested in completing the set on my Warlock. Can I only get 1 piece of that a week?

You can only get tokens or raid gear during your first completion of each part of the raid once per week.

The only reason to redo a section before reset would be for grinding out the second last part of the raid shotgun.

I'm basically trying to get an armor set with mods for each of my Hunter subclasses right now AND looking cool at the same time.
That's a pretty good goal for me that makes me play basically whatever content.
I also haven't been doing public events really unless I come across one already going or about to begin. Instead my friends and I just do strikes or crucible for fun.

A couple of things.

1. Let's not freak out about Curse of Osiris not having a Raid when we absolutely don't know what's in that expansion. We will know in the upcoming weeks and then the DLC releases. Maybe it won't have a raid. Maybe it will. Maybe there'll be some other endgame content. We. Just. Don't. Know. Yet. And there is no point going all "Fuck Bungie" regarding that.

2. There is a lot of content in Destiny 2. Tons. So much. Think about Destiny as a game about repeatable content. The sheer amount of repeatable content items in this game is staggering, especially at launch. The problem here is twofold:
  1. Some of these activities currently aren't part of the repeatable content loop. Story missions kind of are in a way. Adventures, Lost Sectors and Strikes aren't at all. In no way. They just don't matter once you reach the endgame.
  2. At 305, there no longer is an incentive to run the endgame loop for that character unless you choose to make the endgame work for you. For example, I still play my 305 Warlock because I want to build up multiple sets of max power armor for different scenarios. But nothing in the game incentives me to do that. No systems are in place for that. And loot is almost entirely taken out of the activity. Why doesn't each specific strike give out unique loot pools as opposed to a generic Vanguard loot pool? Stuff like that. Why would I ever keep my second Nameless Midnight when it's exactly the same and getting a second one doesn't change anything, even cosmetically.
I think these are the first two questions Bungie needs to address. The first issue is an easy fix and we already know they're working on it. But the second issue is a little bit more complex. The Ornament system they're implementing into Iron Banner and Trials gear for Season 2 is a step in the right direction but the game needs more repeatable quest type stuff, reasons to collect. Maybe dismantling dupes increases a weapon level that tracks stats and unlocks exclusive shaders and emblems? Destiny 2 is all about our Guardian as a walking trophy. Give me more ways to flaunt more accomplishments.

Thanks for the well thought out reply Zereta!

I think Bungie is thinking about the same things. Here's there working list:

CB: Hey, everyone. We've been playing the game in the wild for seven weeks, and like the Destiny experiences that have come before, we're always thinking about where the game is heading next. We're still planning when a bunch of the improvements listed below are going to make their way into the game, but we wanted to let you know what we're up to. Here's a short list of updates we're working on:

  • New systems and rewards to give our most engaged players additional, optional pursuits.
  • Better incentives for players who complete challenging Prestige activities.
  • Better rewards and replay value for strikes, adventures, and Lost Sectors.
  • Private matches for the competitive community (we are targeting early 2018).
  • Crucible tuning like adjusted Supremacy scoring and better spawning rules.
  • Better incentives for completing Crucible matches (and penalties for quitting competitive games).
  • Continued improvements to Iron Banner and Faction Rallies, including uniqueness of rewards.
  • Changes to make the mod economy more interesting and impactful.
  • Ongoing improvements to Exotics, including adjustments to reduce instances of duplication.
  • New ways to spend surplus currency and materials (looking at you Legendary Shards).
  • An emote interface that allows players to equip Salty, Spicy Ramen, Six Shooter, and Flip Out all at the same time.

There's more we're working on. We'll talk again soon.
-Barrett

Looking to run a nice and quick raid today at 2pm EST. If anyone is interested in joining, please shoot me a message on psn @ StrykerIsland.

We'll probably open the Castellum doors on prestige for tokens, then run through normal nice and quick, completing the Bath challenge along the way.

I'm about to board a flight home, but once I land I'll go through my messages and slot people in.

This applies to the raid and being 'under-leveled.' You were only under-leveled for the first run or two. After that at least one person in the group is going to be over-leveled. It was easier for new players to experience end-game content because they could gain that advantage. Some groups still have trouble in D2 even at near max light.

In Crota's End you were permanently underleveled by design. You could never do that raid while it was current and be on the level of enemies or overleveled, thus always suffering the penalties. There were also plenty of people stuck at 29 because of one piece of armor during VoG and never experienced it at proper level.

Is there a database that might tell me where I can find all the shaders currently in the game? Looking at amping up my fashiongame and am gonna need to track some shaders down.
