My team is playing a friendly against New England Revolution this weekend in Florida. Does anyone have anything to say about them? Any player I should keep an eye on?

They're a trash club by MLS standards and their major playmaker is actively trying to leave the team. Lee Nguyen (if he plays) Otherwise Kelyn Rowe, Diego Fagundez, and Krisztian Nemeth would be your primary areas of interest. Their defenders are apathetic at best and I am not really sure how they are all going to come together under new, first-time head coach Brad Friedel.

I don't think Nguyen has reported to preseason camp yet, so their player to look for is probably Kelyn Rowe at this point.

They might not allow a stream of it. The Revs are playing RBNY today, like right now, and refused to allow a stream of the game.

Sporting KC is close to signing another DP! I don't know what to do with all these emotions.

EDIT: I just figured out Vermes' gameplan. Get a Chilean NT player on the roster, then in two years we can swoop in and get Alexis Sanchez.

TFC friendly with Tijuana on now. Seba had a lovely free kick goal, it's 2-1 TFC after 30 min.

Kaku watch continues. Though, it looks like we're finally at the end of it.

Thanks for the answer! I know of Nemeth an old Liverpool player, I've always wondered where he ended up and Friedel of course. So it seems to be an attack-minded team, that's good as long as we win the midfield battle we should be good then.

Really? That sucks, hopefully they'll be able to reach an agreement. The last I heard from the Swedish reporterwas that the IMG Acadamy didn't really had the means to do it...

In theory they should be, and really remains to see how they look under Friedel. But for an attack minded team last year with most of the same attacking pieces they passed themselves to death a lot.

I've been following the Columbus Crew on-and-off for the last couple years in an attempt to get into soccer, and just when I really start to enjoy it and attend one of the games, I hear they will probably leave. It's really a bummer. Is it still pretty likely that they will leave? If that's the case will FC Cincinnati have a better shot of becoming an MLS team, or are there chances totally unrelated?

Most likely, at least that's been my theory since the whole Columbus to Austin thing emerged. After seeing the success of FC Cincinnati, including that deep run in the USOC last season, I'm sure MLS wants them in the league. I think it would be a bummer, because that could be an awesome rivalry in MLS between Cincinnati and Columbus, but MLS is gonna MLS

Surprised it took this long to change the talking point to maybe we won't get a no10 this window. Not sure why anyone got excited when Sugarman said they were going to spend this window.

It's meant to be an alternative to the Voyageur's forum for fans who are passionate about #CanPL (Canadian Premier League). I also run Canucks Abroad, so it's a partnership with them as well.
Cheers. I've poked my head in a few times, hopefully the community keeps growing as CPL gets rolling.

Kaku is literally on the plane, he's going to be in the US tonight. Metro-Twitter's long ordeal is finally over.

It really seems like we have some kind of crazy ordeal every single off-season where we're just made to suffer. I'm just glad this wasn't as bad an off-season as previous years.

The news keeps getting worse for a possible move each week it seems. Not only will they not be talking about it at the Austin city council meeting on the 15th, both Austin Parks and Recreation and Precourt said they need more time for analysis on the two remaining city-owned sites. There's no new date for this to be finished. The Austin situation looks muddled as hell at the moment.

Also the rumor mill is turning that the Arena District is back in play for a new stadium in Columbus. The open plots next to Huntington Park, specifically, that Nationwide and the Schottensteins own.

Atlanta United president Darren Eales is back at it with his vague Twitter teases.........maybe we'll get an announcement of a signing today to replace Carlos Carmona.

It's pretty dope. The Sounders primary one, though...

They're gonna have that trash kit for TWO years. Praying for Sounders fans more than I've ever before

They came THROUGH this year

D.C. United agrees deals to sign ex-Atlanta United midfielder Yamil Asad - sources

Yamil Asad is heading for a return to Major League Soccer with D.C. United, sources with knowledge of the deal told ESPN FC.

D.C. United has agreements with Argentina club Velez Sarsfield to acquire Asad on an initial loan with an option to buy, as well as with Atlanta United, where Asad played last season on loan.

D.C. will send at least $500,000 in allocation money to Atlanta for Asad's MLS rights, sources said. D.C. will also pay $300,000 in loan fees to Velez for Asad, with an option to make it a full transfer for another $700,000 at the end of the season -- matching the $1 million buy option on Asad's contract with Atlanta last year.

Not sure how DC gets Arriola, Asad, Steiber, and Acosta on the field at the same time

Jermaine Jones just dropped some bombs on his Instagram lol. My favorite was that he claims that Garber rigged that blind draw to send him to New England.

Considering Garber and the league may have rigged things to move an entire team, and it's possible this has happened in other leagues before (I am looking at you, David Stern) ... I am slightly inclined to believe it's possible.
Jones has a history of spicy takes, so that's pushing me toward "he's full of it" territory.

How to save US soccer? Copy the German model. The end.

That's not going to work in the US. You can adapt the model for specific parts of the US, but the country is too damn big. Sure, you can build pitches and set up scholarships and get better coaching but that does not fix the problem, which is that the US systematically sucks at identifying and then developing talent. We should be focusing more on the individual club level.

If every team had an academy on the level of Dallas or RBNY we'd be in a much better spot, but there's no reason not to do both.

That said, unless Dallas or RBNY can win the league with their current strategy of playing the kids the rest of the league won't follow. In the end winning is what matters.
