I like Lazertag and rooftop bar ideas. Alamo drafthouse also sounds cool. What about curling? I always wanted to try that shit.

Been burned out. Took a few days off from work and debating an impromptu trip. Any tips for places to stay or park near MSG?
I would suggest: https://www.yelp.com/biz/fairfield-...n-manhattan-penn-station-new-york-2?osq=hotel
And slightly cheaper: https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-new-yorker-hotel-new-york?osq=the+new+yorker+wyndham

A couple of us were contemplating on doing a meetup possibly this Friday or Saturday so your trip might overlap with that.

We're going curling?

I was looking at the latter. I don't think it would overlap. I'm looking to head there tomorrow, leave Thursday. Might shoot up tonight if I get motivated.

what do you have against getting a terrible stomach ache and shitting jet black for 12 hours?
Nothing at all! I've yet to experience that horrible of effect after consuming it. I did wake up with a headache though.
Been looking to try out Killer Queen. They have a cabinet over at Reclamation Bar in W'burg if anyone is interested in playing.

http://killerqueenarcade.com/
I feel like I've either heard of Reclamation Bar or passed by the place obliviously. I always thought Killer Queen was only available at NYU Game Center's events or Babycastles game nights. A full 8 player game of Killer Queen is quite fun! I played a bunch of games a couple of years ago at NYU's No Quarter event (I wonder if they still do those).

Man, the guys that beat us were some crazy nerds.

We should totally hit up something new though and do something soon.

Do you guys mainly stick in Brooklyn?
Only the trendy hipster areas of Brooklyn because of reasons. There is yet to be a meet up in Queens and The Bronx is foreign territory. Manhattan is win-win for everyone involved but in my experience, the further north one lives, the bigger of a pain in the ass it is to get out to Brooklyn and Queens.

Ended up getting a room at the Courtyard Times Square west. Parking right next door.

Ran into zero traffic coming in, which I'm still floored by.

New Yorkers, I'm booking a trip for the end of May (maybe early June depending on flight prices) to your lovely city and am wondering about what are some good spots to look for in an AirBnb? close to subways, choice venues, safe. I'm just in the planning stages rn so any suggestions are welcome. I'm heading out there alone from May21st to May 28th (my current ideal dates) for mostly record shopping and whatever flights of fancy catch my eye.

Don't do AirBNB dude, short-term rentals are illegal in NY state.

It must be because of the rain/snow as people in CT don't want to drive. Last time I went to Boston, it took the bus over 4 hours as opposed to 3/3.5 hours to get into the city because of terrible traffic. Plus the guy I was sitting next to had some terrible BO emanating from him.

To add to the bar recommendations, I would recommend Pony Bar and if you want to visit meet up history, The Gaf where stuff happened.

The mod speaks the truth: AirBnB is illegal in NY state and shady as sin. There have been far too many cautionary tales about oblivious tourists who got scammed by people. Whenever I do out of state travel, I usually share a hotel room with friends or book a bed at a hostel because I'm frugal. It's much cheaper as result.

If you don't mind hostels, there's one on the lower 100s street and Amsterdam that's down the street from a subway in Manhattan. I would check hostelworld.com for prices as I used it in the past and never had a bad experience. I would also stay away from skeevy love hotels near 48th street.

Maybe I can check one of those spots after the game. I picked an odd day to go. Really don't have a ton of time. Pouring out once I got in, so just got some food at this place called Stitch.

ah ok, good to know. as soon as i put my feelers out on FB I got hit up with a couple people who wouldn't mind putting me up for a night or two so I may stay at a hotel the rest of the trip.

So next meetup will be Saturday, February 24.

Are people interested in doing Union Pool tomorrow? I've got a work thing but can probably get out of it if enough people want to get together.

After over 2 years of being in this city I've finally decided to sell my car. This morning I went to move it due to ASP and (yet again) it wouldn't start. The battery died somepoint in the last week. And it's probably because of my after-market automatic starter and because it's cold. But it's just been a huge headache to have to worry "am i gonna be able to find a spot this week?" so i'm done with it.

Coworker just told me that Grand Central has a popup setup advertising Marvel Universe Live. Which I can only pray is as good as Reptar on Ice.

Can't seem to find much on it outside of:
Grand Central Terminal
February 14 at 11:40am ·
Who's coming to Vanderbilt Hall on 2/21?! Join us for this day-long Marvel Universe Live takeover spectacular – including Super Hero performances at 11:30am and 2:30pm. Event is free and open to the public! See you there! https://www.marveluniverselive.com/
"Marvel Universe Live!" comes to the Barclay Center on Feb. 22, with a special preview at Grand Central Terminal on Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Underneath all of the colorful, flashy costumes is months of work — and usually a harness.

Grand Central has some weird promotional stuff sometimes. They had a Bandai booth for a weekend. Don't think it was in conjunction with anything. They just set up to show new figures and sell exclusives.

Those better not be pics of tourists and real New Yorkers ! }-:( /s

I should post some sketches of people I draw in public/the subway. Will do that soon. Been doing it for over 6 years now.

I'd like to make a correction RE: AirBnB's in NY State being legal. AirBnB's in NY state are in fact legal as long it's only for a maximum 30 days stay and the owners are present. Anything over that is illegal renting.Source.We made a mea culpa so anyone thinking about doing AirBnB during their stay, AirBnB away. I met also some acquaintances that were staying at an AirBnB this weekend for IndieCade East.

Oh damn, this sounds like fun. But I'm taking my girl out for her birthday, and I doubt I can convince her barcade would be a swank addition.
