Ridge Racer 8 exclusive to Switch? Unless Nintendo is fronting the bill, this is pure fantasy.

It seems strange that a lead designer would miss that Ace Combat is coming to Xbox One and PC and put a previously unknown game on their projects seems irresponsible for the position.

I totally believe this. Nintendo outsources a lot of stuff to Namco. It would make sense for an First-person game which theh don't have experience with.

huh, that would be... unexpected?

will wait and see (the reactions could be potentially very entertaining).

Nothing wrong with them having not done anything. I was asking because I don't know, but looking at their site it does look like they're new?

So far I've seen the Singapore studio credited on semi-recent titles produced by Bandai Namco's main Tokyo development studio, like Tekken 7 and Tales of Berseria. I don't know if they've run a project themselves (yet) or if that's necessarily even what the studio was created for.

Also another thing to note from the job posting is that they've been working with that branch of Bandai Namco since May 2016.

BN Singapore are probably making art assets for the Japanese BN group that's putting the game/s together.

Now that I think about it, Ridge Racer 8 being Switch exclusive wouldn't be that outlandish. After all, Ridge Racer 6 was 360 exclusive.

Working on MP4 and RR at the same time would demand much more people and resources than Bandai singapure is capable right now.

Switch is lacking in the racer department for sure, beyond Mario Kart 8 Deluxe... I would not mind this
But Retro better be working on something good

Retro was funded by Nintendo and the guy that led the Studio that made Turok for N64, so Nintenso knew what they were jumping in, i cannot find what was BN S worked on

"The guy that led the studio" in this instance wouldn't be a Namco employee. It'd be Tanabe.

Think Smash 4. Sakura and Sora Ltd led development, Namco had the workforce to realize that vision.

Not if they're just helping out other teams as has been suggested.

Retro's clearly working on Ridge Racer 9.

I really don't have a good feeling for Metroid Prime 4. If it was just another new Metroid, sure, give it to Namco, whatever, but when you specifically call it Metroid Prime 4 there's a pretty distinct direction, art, and design you've set an expectation for, and to have production move not only to a different studio but all the way across the ocean, I dunno. I just have a feeling it's going to be either a really, really paint by the numbers producer driven experience or something that is very, very different.

I feel like if Ridge Racer gets funded by nintendo, the main reaction will be "Why isnt nintendo footing the bill for a new F-ZERO instead?"

Smash 4 was made by the people who made Tekken and Soulcalibur though... The list of Bamco FPSs or action adventure games is extremely small.

We'll see if they hired some people who have worked on shooters or adventure games in the past I guess.

I know nothing about Bandai Namco Singapore but it's entirely possible they're an external collaborator/asset farm and not the primary developer.

Came here to say this. That's the regular deal w/ Singaporean studios, at any rate. (Me, I'm holding out hope that this is actually Time Crisis R.)
