Yes it was a really... *really* low bar, but the sidequests here are also better then a lot of other open worlds games I have played recently (haven't played Horizon so can't comment on that).

I'd say they are similar. There are a lot of quests in Horizon that follow The Witcher 3 investigation stuff. And that also happens in Origins quite a bit. But I do like that it takes you into new parts of a city or location when you do them. I am still partial to some of the characterization of the major characters in Horizon. But I haven't finished the main story in Origins yet.

it's showing as free for me in the gear tab right at the end
I understand. It won't give it to me, though.

I read that it's free for people who have earned enough points across Assassin's Creed games connected through uplay. Not a currency you need to spend, just a total number achieved through gameplay. Like achievements, whatever the uplay equivalent is. Basically rewarding you for playing multiple past AC games.

Ezio's outfit has a lower requirement and I was able to get that one for free. But Altair has a higher requirement and is locked, probably because I haven't completed an AC game since Revelations.

Hdr is growing on me. Too bright but its nice for that real desert sun feel lol.

Also drop a sleep dart in fire makes it a sleep bomb with huge aoe.
Getting the mummy outfit is worth it.
6000 drachmas into the lootbox stuff gave me no outfits or unicorns.
Must keep trying. Don't care for pedestrian clothes or levelling legendaries.

Evening looks completely different wow.
They put in the work for hdr but we need a image adjustment guide

Lol, What is so arbitrary about it ?

They are huge open world games with quests With similar combat systems
Because they're pretty much different genres. I similarly wouldn't compare AC Origins and Final Fantasy 15. TW3 has the skin of an action adventure game but really it's an RPG, whereas AC Origins is a through-and-through action adventure game. The combat is not similar at all (lol!).

The open world, being 3rd person and having a similar quest structure are big parallels, but in gameplay terms they're going for broadly different things. That's also why TW3's quests diverge and branch and lead onto broader story events or depth, whereas AC Origins' are generally one off fetch or kill affairs.

Welp, as of now I am two times the level recommended for the story mission.

God I love the game. I think I already spent more time on Origins than all previous AC games I played combined. I usually give up before the 10th hour. Only one I finished was Freedom Cry (because it's short :p).

It's beyond unfair to imply that AC Origins wasn't also a labour of love. Also if you've read anything about TW3's development you know it was very painful and strained with a notorious 2-3 years of solid crunch that burned a lot of people out.

Games like these aren't just born from raw passion and nothing else. Any great work is 1% inspiration 99% perspiration, as Albert Einstein said. That will be true of both of these titles.
I know, if anything is game is the most filled with spirit one I've played from Ubisoft, yes, even more than AC2. What I'm saying is, CDPR had waaaaay more leeway to finecraft their writing, world etc, while this one had to accomodate publisher mandates, franchise restrictions AND the burden of being a soft reboot, both thematically and gameplay wise.

This game is a miracle. And the sequel made from the same team (Origins 3?) Is going to be GOAT material.
Now, Origins 2... let's just hope the other team (Montreal 1 I guess) is just as inspired, but what they don't have is their passionate lead, Ashraf Ishmail.

Now that I mention him, bayek looks totally like Ashraf when sporting the beard and no hair.

Right, I see where you're coming from, fair enough.

BTW, did you use the Reply button to respond to me? Golden_Pigeon certainly didn't make that response!

From a combat tech perspective, yes in combat Horizon is very clean, but BOTW stutters and freezes frequently during combat. The image quality and framerate are better in Origins than Watch Dogs 2, on base PS4 at least. There is more weight to the animations now than in any AC before it, because the heavy weapons are heavier than they've ever been and unlike previous AC characters, Bayek really knows how to use them. There are things they can clean up, sure, but technically inadequate? Nah.

Unity and Syndicate had "city" stealth like AC2 - crowds, hiding behind structures/barriers, losing line of sight, etc. Origins has that, but also has more of Black Flag - crouching in grass patches, behind fences, and slow movement - but line of sight is still a factor. Every camp I've gone through so far - from the start of the game through the entrance to Alexandria - has had multiple line-of-sight blocking structures, and some have ample grass patches to crouch in. If you screw up a stealth maneuver, and they see you, there's no bias - they will come after you. But they can lose sight of you also and you can get another try at the stealth approach.

It's more about the general presentation of the game. I personally didn't find BOTW stutters and freezes during combat, the framerate may be inconsistent, but I wouldn't say it stutters and freezes, at least now for me. In AC the issues are more persistently glaring, such as generally poor animation.

Heck, on one of the early cutscenes on a sidequest with a child, I had a torch out before the cutscene, at the start of the cutscene there was a floating torch in front of my character, for a moment, which then extinguished. The game is just full of weird jank like that, that I personally, just haven't seen in other games.

As for Watch Dogs, I don't know. I found it to be pretty polished overall, bare in mind I'm playing all of these on a PRO, and overall found Watch Dogs 2 kept a good framerate. It also features consistently good animations, and generally top notch visual presentation throughout the game.

This game takes a bit to get good, but it does improve a lot, within a few hours. It still has a bit of the amusement park feel, where you arent exploring, rather than moving to icons on a map, though. The side quests are great, combat is good, after investing in the skill tree, and the graphics are amazing. The writing and story are much better than previous games. Although, the first part of the story is incredibly disjointed and not good.

Shout out to mounts in this game. Im tired of mounts that can't go over anything. These ones are actually competent.

Protip.
When using a light bow, throw down a torch and light your arrow on fire.
The crouch and position yourself in such a way that your extra arrows lie above the torch.
After a second or two, youll notice two arrows on fire instead of one. After that all your arrows for that bow will be on fire until you run out because the reserve always lights the next one

Damn, i really would have love to have an arabic voiceover option in this game. I understand it's a matter of budget, but it would have been so cool.

Finally got the settings right for hdr.
Some manual gamma, 800 luminance and 340 paper white.
Absolutely incredible looking stuff
Daytime lighting reminds me of agni's philosophy with hdr enabled

Wow, so ubisoft really did it. They left off support for HDR on pc even though they clearly said "All platforms" in the past.

Do they know that HDR/Atmos is something that ALL platforms can support? Xbox s, PS4 (both pro/non pro) and PC are all fully capable of HDR/Atmos (provided you have them hooked to an hdr display and an a/v receiver that can do atmos).

There is absolutely 0 reason that they can have support for these on those systems.

They basically regulated the pc version of the game to the lowest quality and put the xbox one x as the best when it comes to these features.

Dont worry they also forgot to actually adjust the menus for hdr. Everything is washed out besides the gameplay lol

The difference between TW3 and ACO is that one is a labour of love made by people in full control of their work, and the other is a little miracle coming from an assembly line company.

Not really, no. You can tell from the titles, most of the time.

I don't think that's fair at all. No one recreates historical sites (the Giza plateau for instance) with this much detail without a love of the history behind them.

Are we not expecting the Syndicate team to have an AC game in here as well or did they move on to a different IP?

Dude, duuuuude

Holy... horse.

So bizarre to see someone complaining about the technical excellence of the game in a post literally above this.

Glad I am holding off on this game until I get a HDR set later this month.

Impressions sound great.

After 15 hours i finally got used to the heavy and slow movement of Bayek.Combat is getting better and better thanks to some powerful weapons and abilities too.

Still only in the first main mission at Alexandria though.I am getting distracted by the world and i am contstantly upgrading everything!I hope i don't become too OP for the Main Quest.

Heavy and slow movement?

This is the lightest control in any Assassin's Creed game! It's not MGSV or BotW, of course.

I just unlocked the Ezio and Altair outfits based on the descriptions in this thread, so thanks. Has anyone redeemed any of the items? The Sycamore looks pretty sweet. What level are these items?

The Syndicate guys are the B-B Team, i don't think Ubisoft are gonna give them a mainline game again (Especially after Syndicate's low sales) but you never know.

The thing is, the next one in line is Montreal 1. Assuming the supposed Origins 2 comes out in 2019, that's 4 years after Unity, just in time.

This has been probably planned already, given our first look at Origins, when it was still set in ancient Egypt, was in like 2012

Me too!I spent some Ubisoft points(or whatever they are) to buy some resources but i would also like to know if the weapons are worth it

I don't know maybe it's because i spent all of October playing Dragons Dogma with a character that had very light movement.

Are there any other classic Assassin outfits, outside of Ezio and Altair?

I hope the Syndicate team gets another shot. Its poor sales are solely the fault of Unity and Ubisoft. Its a much improved title over its predecessor. Before Origins it would be in my top 3.
