Is Gundam Build FIghters Try worth watching? Are the battles at least entertaining like Build Fighers?
I had a break in the middle of Try but went back and finished it just last night. The lighthearted style, but still epic moments were really enjoyable. All the model in-jokes were funny to me, though I don't think any topped the ultra meta joke of Agguy heads abducting Bearguys in Battlelogue because they used their old runners and the discarded parts plotted revenge. The character check-in in the last moment of the season was so fun.

The rival builder slammed his hand past Yuuma's head and I said, "A wall slam!" and then Fumina said, "Oh! A wall slam!" cracked me up.
So many versions of "Gunpla is freedom/liberation/life," delivered super seriously was great.
The Meijin being a general badass and mentor about the deeper gunpla truths. And calling Sekai "Burning Boy."
I missed the rivals becoming almost teammates from the first season, but similar characters stuck around. They didn't even say Straight-Assembly Shimon's name from maybe ep. 9 on, poor guy.
Yes two of the best fights in the franchise are in Try.
I wonder which you mean.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm on episode 2, so far the show seems like a pile of anime cliches/tropes lol.

But whatever it takes to see some classic mobile suits with good to great animation. I love how the show doesn't shy away from showing some really obscure MSs.

I think the quality in animation dropped significantly in Try. Nothing in that season comes close to the Fellini fight or Bloodhounds from the first season. There's also a much bigger emphasis on harem antics.

That are both my favorite fights in S1 too. The sniper fight is awesome and is almost successful because they used a strategy. I wish there was more of that.

The season is a bit uneven. Once the Star Winning Gundam shows up things feel very fast to the finish.

Oh I have no doubt I'm going to get entertainment out of this show, I've seen enough anime to know what to expect from a 25 episode show lol

Edit: LOL *pans over female Gundam characters* "Look at all those vaguely familiar hotties!" I admit, this one got a chuckle.

The Ghost Trick Steamed Hams video blew my mind. I never caught on to this meem but when I watched that I got a million youtube recommendations. Never even played the game but made me go look for it later.

Also AGE was very forgettable for me. I even got the Legilis Gundam HG but all I can remember is Asemu in the second arc being a great story, but everything else was just uninteresting or bad. The final chapter just does stuff for no reason also. Since people are watching I won't spoil it but like the last 10 episodes just made me angry lol out of a pure story telling standpoint.

Sorry, GM. You keep getting got.
I started panel lining on the soles of the Z'Gok's feet, but have to figure a solid way to clean the lines up. Fortunately, I have an unusually large amount of gum erasers, unfortunately they leave crumbs. Eh. I'll get some clear coat soonish and finish it up.

...and then place another order.

Poor GM. I put a MW-01 together over the weekend, fun little kit. I just wish the final type had a kit. I think I am gonna pick up a Waff and Bugu to go with him as well.

AGE has a lot of problems, but it is a lot more interesting than SEED and Destiny at least. It falls on its face for what it tried to do, but it at least tried.

A customised AGE 2 featured prominently in the Build Divers prologue.
AGE 1 and AGE 2 have Master Grades, something that G-Self or G-Saviour cannot claim.

I only meant as in AGE mobile suits never quite got the promoting other protagonist Mobile Suits did. Bandai rushed to include the Barbatos in everything while promoting Iron-blooded Orphans. It took a while for an AGE MS to show up in the Vs series. I also don't remember AGE ever being included in SRW. Though those are obviously not the ideal way to measure popularity.

I know AGE 1 and 2 have Master Grades, but I wonder if there is demand for a G-saviour. Does anyone remember the movie? lol

Sometimes, although not always, an MS or a protagonist from a certain series not appearing in other media may be caused by licensing deals instead of popularity.
The whole story regarding Sentinel discussed a few pages earlier is one of the most bizarre examples where the MS can be used but not the pilots or their associated story.

The Sentinel book is still one of my most prized anime related acquisitions. But why is it that the suits can be featured in games/plastic models, but not the characters and story?

Also a small correction, turns out Gundam Age was featured in a SRW game, BX for the 3DS. I guess its generational storyline makes it harder to include in the series.

Edit: now that I think about it, only the SD Gundam game series ever dealt directly with Sentinel's plot/characters. Sentinel was featured in SRW 4 as a secret unit without a pilot.

Sunrise own the mecha designs, Model Graphix own the characters and story, incorporating them would require licensing them.

AMAZING.

edit: Nevermind, the stupid Toonami ED song was a big fail. I was hoping they'd use Forever Amuro with some footage from the variety show episode. Otherwise it was great.

Yeah the Toonami music killed the greatness of this a tad, but it's still damn good.

I was hoping they'd use Forever Amuro with some footage from the variety show episode.

That OP was brilliant, though.

When GundamEra posts your video and they all hate it and bully you

/s, if that wasn't apparent. I'm not actually offended.

I enjoy Ein Ni Amuro way more than the Toonami ed, but the footage I had to work with suited the Toonami version better. Plus, the shitty quality of the clip that I downloaded to me translated to a DVR or DVD rip of the English broadcast given that Chalmers and Skinner, well, speak English. It was a very intentional decision, promise.

did my very first build. M1 Astray

need to get gundam markers for lining + some fine grit sandpaper though

Nice pose. Some day I'll pose my kits in some way that is not totally boring, I promise.
For cleaning the nubs I find that using a hobby knife works well enough that in some cases you may forego sanding.
At least for the mouth vents, some panel lining is "de rigueur". The rest is up to you how far you want to go.

Yeah, panel lining is the best thing you can do to make it pop. There are a million ways to do it, the easiest is getting the Gundam pens, I prefer an ink wash but I'm a masochist. Astray is the best thing to come out of CE. I remember when the Astray no grade kit first launched back in 2002. It had me excited for SEED. Then the series actually aired :|

Finished my Gundam Base only Special Coating Kamiki Burning Gundam. Looks cool but the eye strain trying to see the runner numbers with all the clear and sparkly parts @.@ Made this randomly despite it not being on my list of things to make, while helping my friends make their first gunpla's. They chose 1/100 Barbatos Lupis and RG Gold Frame Astray Atsuna Mina, the second of which looked insanely complicated to make, he did not finish it in one sitting lol.

I need some IDs.
A Zaku-like suit with six magazines across its front skirt.
A RX-like gundam with round cylinders on the knees aiming up, like jet thruster exhausts.

Checks youtube review - "This RG Astray Gold Frame etc. etc. isn't one I'd recommend for your first real grade kit." Let alone first kit ever! Good for them.

The kenpo belt on that Kamiki annoys me to no end.

Now that I think about it I think the second one sounds like a GP-series Gundam from 0083
Do any of these ring a bell?

The friend making it is an engineer, he had his mind blown how much detail there was on it just making the inner frame lol.

And yeah that belt part does is not even secured by anything really. It just kinda plops into that spot and there is a gap with nothing really holding it in...such an odd part on the kit and the gundam in general.

Just realized the other day that next year is the 40th anniversary. Has Bandai/Sunrise announced any plans for it? I'm assuming (and also kinda fearing) that they'll continue the Origin OVA with a remake of 0079 starting next year.

Yeah so far the only thing is the Origin heading into the events of First Gundam, Yas said the length of Origins OTW stuff is going to be "no joke" so do with that what you will. He also mentioned he is working on another big project, Tomino is doing another G Reco, and allegedly there is going to be a walking real Gundam.
