I personally wouldn't really worry about the heat and noise concerns.

I am sure MS has tested this thing pretty good when it comes to hardware. The system has been on production for a while now so I assume they worked out all the kinks.

This system is supposed to be MS swan song to its fans so I highly doubt they would be carelsss with it...especially how much shit they got for 3 red lights on the 360 and the launch of the original Xbox one. It would be a disaster for them.

Well obiously. I just thought they would have a good cooling solution to counter that. Loud fans is not a thing I want in my console.
Or in the living room. There is a economy mode on my projector which makes it less bright but also less noisy. That's what I always use. I don't care that the picture quality gets worse, I simply hate noisy stuff in the living room.

I just don't think people are being realistic - the only way you are going to game at 4K on *any* system, in quiet, is with a 'proper' water-cooled PC. Even then, you will get 'some' noise, but a decent cooling solution will run you back more than the Xbox X retails for alone. We all need to dial back our expectations and realise what we are getting for the money here.

So, it's bad design basically. I really don't have to have a small console with internal PSU, I never had a problem with the external 360 PSU or the big XB1. A noisy console is sooo much more annoying imo, the talk about the noise differences on PS4 Pro is the main reason why I didn't buy one, my PS4 is almost at 360 level of noisy so I don't want to fall into that trap again. If Xbox One X is equally noisy then I'll be very very disappointed and I won't be quiet about it.
Hopefully it's quiet as a UHD bluray player at least.

My Xbox One sounds like it's ready to take off when I play certain things. You can't expect systems to be super quiet running the hardware this is running. A lot of higher end PCs get some sound generated when they're working too. It's normal.

So far the early reviews seem decent and If the hype continues to deliver and KB/M support (down the road) is decent I might pass on upgrading my PC with high end parts for a few years and enjoy the console lifestyle again.

I`m not sure why people are worried about a "loud" system - this thing is doing some work and most PCs fans run loud - get some nice headphones and it wont make a difference

That's kinda a hyperbole statement to say right now. Let's wait for DF analysis before we jump to conclusions here. From all the breakdown videos I have seen, it's actually very good design for what this thing is outputting.

You're right for the most part, but that bold part is not true.

I have a 7700k AIO cooled and a 1080Ti with the EVGA AIO cooler. PC is fairly quiet and both those coolers didn't cost more than an One X.

My gaming PC also set me back more than 3K. So for $500, the One X is a great deal.

AIO Coolers aren't the best in the world obviously and yeah, going all out with pumps and custom tubing can get very expensive, but there are cheaper options.

Anyone expecting a console of this size with this amount of power to be silent during load is being silly to say the least.

My PRO gets fairly loud and this thing is much more powerful. I'll accept the same levels of noise that the PRO generates.

I think an economy mode on the XOX would be counter-intuitive, no?

My PS4 Pro never really got loud either. I guess others might have had it longer than I have, but I've never heard much coming from it.

My Pro gets pretty loud due to companies and their stupidity in leaving the framerate unlocked in menus and letting them run at like 200fps

Love how people are overreacting right away. Not saying the person is wrong. I dont know i dont have the console.
But today we got also people saying its pretty silent etc, And nobody bothered. And then someone says its loud (again not saying he is not right) and the thread "explodes"

I'm more than willing to accept that. The last time I researched it was years ago, and it seemed very expensive back then. Might be worth me checking out more recent kit.

You can get a decent AIO CPU cooler for less than $100 easily. As long as you don't get carried away with the OC, it will be fairly quiet.

GPU AIO are a bit more expensive. I think mine was $170 but it's such a specific part that EVGA jacked up the price.

You know there are lot of guys just waiting for any negative to come out about the X. They are waiting to jump in on that.

We already have one guy calling the internals a bad design because someone said it seemed loud.

I have a 360 Elite still hooked up right next to this X1X. In my short experience with just one enhanced game, Xbox One X is not close to being as loud as even an idle 360 Elite that I keep clear of dust. It's not ridiculous like that. The original 360s are something else.

My noise comparisons are to the original Xbox One.

But I don't think your standards are silly. I want as quiet of a console as possible too.

My PS4 Pro gets loud from time to time. Depending on the game. It's nothing earth shattering.

Yeah, my Pro is pretty loud on most Pro-enhanced games I have because the whiny fan spin noise. As long as it's quieter, I'll be happy.

Titanfall 2 is super loud, as is Injustice 2. Kinda wish I didn't buy TF2 on the PS4, but then again that game is a great example of how to do a game right in so many ways, especially with no loot boxes. I don't really mind supporting it in that regard.

I'm wondering what kind of upgrade Injustice 2 would get. I'd love 4k in some form, but I'm guessing it will just match the Pro's 1440p output.

It'll be very interesting when the review embargo lifts. When exactly is that - I'm sure it's an faq but I have man flu so can't be bothered looking.

Yeah embargo is up on 3rd November... Who knows what time zone they stipulated? I assume PST from the dualshockers info.

Go big or go home! 65 every time... I have a 55 and it's too small.

Here's two 1080p shots of Gears 4 Visual mode

Again, as a 1080p only guy, Performance mode is my preference - I'm amazed by it. I want this option on as many (typically 30fps) enhanced titles as possible.

Imma try out some Halo 5 next. I'm really excited about no more sub-1080p there.
looks good!

do you have battlefield1 by any chance?

No, I don't unfortunately. No EA Access atm either.

But I'm having similar thoughts about checking out unenhanced games. I wanna test out everything in my library with a dynamic res. And I'm going to see what the initial load is like on Mass Effect: Andromeda on Xbox One X. On the original Xbox One, ME:A gave me WWE PSP loadtime flashbacks (hyperbole).

Have anything else you can test out that has Enhanced Support? Maybe even the Forza 7 demo? (not sure if the demo has support or not)

Of enhanced patches currently available... Gears 4 I have already covered (and am blown away by), Halo 5 is next for me, Halo Wars 2 (don't know if I'll really notice any benefit without a 4k TV), Killer Instinct, Diablo 3, Halo 3 360 (as a 1080p dude, don't really know if this is worth loading up over TMCC) and some F2P stuff I don't touch (Path of Exile, Smite and World of Tanks).

I think my Gears 4 and Halo 5 impressions will be the only worthwhile impressions from me, because I'm most familiar with those games (and how they'd previously drop below 1080p).

Oh, I also want to try out unoptomized indie games now. I want to see if a Layers of Fear situation is solid now just through "boost."

I haven't bought a new Xbox console since 2010, so I'm excited about this one now it's finally almost here. I don't have it pre-ordered, but I think I will get it sometime this month. $500 is a lot of money, but with Best Buy reward zone points coming back the real cost will be lower. And it will allow me to move my PS3 down to the basement where I have a 32 inch 720p TV with nothing currently connected to it. Then we can watch NetFlix down there.

If anyone is interested, I won a 1tb XBX in the Taco Bell contest and posted it up for sale over in the Buy/Sell/Trade thread! It seems like a cool system but I don't have a display that would fully take advantage of it, so I'm passing it along to someone who can appreciate it.

If this is not kosher, I apologize and will remove this post!
