I prefer 2 and 3, but would never rate Rev1 and 2 over it.

The shooting is so bad in Rev1 and 2. No enemy reaction at all and the weapons have no weight. It's kinda like RE6 but that game had a lot of things around it that made it fun to play (and the weapons still feel better than Rev but not as good as RE4 and 5). The Revelations games have nothing to make up to the lack of kick, impact and power.
That's the worst thing about Rev 1 that i'm noticing on my playthrough right now. The enemies aren't fun to fight. The shooting is so bad in Rev1 and 2. Ohh hell yeah, Rev 1 and 2 (only played some of 2) are fine games but I totally wasn't engrossed in it like i was with CVX. In my mind I can recall pretty clearly the events of CVX. the bits in rev... it's like some straight to dvd sequel, Although fun it lacks the magic.
Same. Though I'm softer on CVX than most. I played it when it came out on PS2 and hated to the point of vowing to never play it again, then I played last year and... liked it? It's plagued by weird design decisions, that's for sure.I'd say Rev 1 and CVX are at the very bottom of my list. But I really liked Rev 2 for some reason.
That'd be weird as RE3 happens one day before and one day after RE2.Imagine you playing RE2 Remake and all of the sudden you see Jill running from Nemesis in the distance.
I have no problem with that tbh... It would be a really cool easter egg. That'd be weird as RE3 happens one day before and one day after RE2.
For me it's just I prefer the RE games to do one thing and do that one thing well.
Like the only RE title atm that has managed to somewhat balance things is RE4 really.
Besides that every other game is far better sticking to what they do rather than trying to be this awkward middle ground. That has always been my biggest issue with the Rev games over something like 5 and 6. 5 and 6 might not be good horror games. But as action games they're very fun. Rev 1 and 2 on the other hand are neither scary nor ever reach the same action of those mainline titles. So they just kinda limp as "ok" titles and nothing more. For fans that are/were eager to go back to any sort of horror attempt I can see the appeal. But considering I felt Leon's campaign in RE6 was the weaskest since his earlier missions tried to do just that. You can start to see how I am with these things I hope.
I will say that in the general scheme of things. The lore of RE comes first for me. Which in that case I was very glad with how Rev 2 incorporated some fan favorites back into the fray. While also adding a new great character to the lineup. But still currently since I have to consider the whole package. I rank Rev 2 > Rev 1 > CVX as the lowest titles when talking "mainline". CVX is only the lowest because I feel it hasn't aged well at all compared to the PS1 games. While i'm not a big fan of RE7 I do rank it higher than those titles just because for the most part it basically sticks to it's attempt at being horror. Even when things get more actiony near the end. Which I can give it some props for over trying to appeal to everyone in the main game.
To me go all action or go all horror so you can make the best game possible. The middle ground just isn't a good fit for RE unless you got a legendary team and/or luck out (RE4)
I always liked how smooth DC2 controlled, running and gunning while being able to do 360 movement was a lot of fun.lol.
As for DC it all depends on my mood.
DC1 and 2 are pretty equal in my eyes.
But if I have to absolutely choose. I will probably say 2 by a slim margin.
Only because it's easier to jump back into when I have random moments of wanting to play anything DC.
I grew up playing it on the Dreamcast and loved it, but playing it again with the HD version released on 360 a few years ago I realised that it's one of the weaker games. It also did feel like a step back from RE3, which had free moment on stairs and decaptations and such. It's a hard one for me. Rev 2 is one of my favorite RE games, which surprised me after Rev 1 was one of my least favorites, by far.
I'd say Rev 1 and CVX are at the very bottom of my list. But I really liked Rev 2 for some reason.
I preferred him in the original Dreamcast version. They made him too powerful in CVX, I always liked when Alexia slaps him flying and he falls flat on the ground instead of landing on his feet in CVX.Same. Though I'm softer on CVX than most. I played it when it came out on PS2 and hated to the point of vowing to never play it again, then I played last year and... liked it? It's plagued by weird design decisions, that's for sure.
Also I hated Wesker in CVX. Felt like a saturday morning cartoon villain and not in a fun way like RE5 (or RE6 lol).
I really want them to merge RE2 and RE3 for the remake lol.Imagine you playing RE2 Remake and suddenly you see Jill running from Nemesis in the distance.
Shades of that one thread...I miss Leon and Ada's love story. Can we get a proper follow-up please ? It has been 15 years after RE2 now, can't they just exchange words ? There's so much to explore, and it kills me how relationships are in the gutter after 2. They just decided the characters will become immortal superheroes instead of evolving humans
But the games share nothing except a couple of rooms. They have completely different atmospheres and mechanics and stories and items and timeframes and really the only way for them to do both would compromise one, the other, or both.

yeah, keep it separate.
I'm sure they can, look at RE6 with it's 4 campaigns.
Combining RE2 and RE3 only makes sense if they remake both titles as one Raccoon City Stories title. I don't think Capcom can pull that off.
That itself doesn't even make that much sense unless we're talking about a fantasy la-la land where Capcom is going to throw an unlimited budget at this game. It's not going to happen. If they did that, one game would get gutted (most likely RE3) for the other. All there is to it.
The games are tiny by today's standards, could double the length of each and still fall short of most modern games.
That is double the length of them combined, btw.
Want to contribute something better than this?
I doubt they're going all out like that. Plus, RE6's campaigns are of questionable quality, so they're probably not the best comparison.
This, even though it would be a nice idea.
Look at my post above, it explains it all. I mean, there's no real point. We have had this conversation before, and there's nothing really left to say about it. I mean yes, if we want to live in fantasy la-la land where Capcom will throw unlimited money at a project that would both combine and expand the two games while doing the original material justice, and would be willing to lose potential sales of selling two separate games, it's a good idea I guess even if somewhat pointless. But that won't happen
Most games have campaigns 4+ times the lengths of RE 2 or 3, so let's say double them combined, they usually use constant new areas and environments the entire game.
But you think a game based around backtracking areas and that reuses areas between campaigns is la la land?
I would prefer they focus on properly expanding RE2 with the REmake treatment, maybe even incorporating ideas from RE1.5, than mix it with RE3 and end up without a proper remake of both. Not to mention that If REmake 2 is successfull, REmake 3 will be next, and giving that away now would not make much financial sense for Capcom
Agreed, they're totally different games, and both are good enough that they both deserve a proper REmake, with Capcom's full attention for each.
No.
Yes.
E3 2018.Is PSX the next gaming event thingie we are expecting to see something on REmake 2?
Is the consensus that RE2make will follow the remake design of REmake?
Or are people certain they'll change the gameplay to be more like RE4?
I know we haven't seen anything of RE2make yet but maybe someone's heard something about it. Thought I'd ask.
