It makes me so mad that I haven't found a context to use this gif.

Yoda in TLJ is great, but on further views, it just makes me frustrated that we aren't getting Obi-Wan and Anakin Force Ghosts.

I kinda blows my mind that we still don't know what movie is coming in 2020. Whatever it is should be in pre-production right now, right? But RJ's trilogy is crazy early and D&D are still working on Game of Thrones until probably early 2019 or even later.

Unless something happened, it *should* be the reported Obi-Wan movie.

I think we only know about RJ's because it was s huge vote of confidence in TLJ, and D&D's because the deal probably would have leaked long before they started anyway, and both are *entire series* of films.

The Yoda scene was the funniest thing for me because

I technically spoiled myself by listening to the track on the score beforehand

But then again, I already guessed correctly he'd show up 2 years beforehand too hahaha
Oh man I would've been so bummed if I had that spoiled for me. I also couldn't imagine listening to the track "Supremacy" before seeing the film, hearing that epic Leia theme wondering what could possibly be going on in the film. I would've never guessed it was Leia flying through space like a baus.

Personally glad I didn't listen to Battle of Crait prior to the film too.

Mouthed "yes" as soon as the full-fledged Falcon-TIE attack theme made a comeback.

That shit is one of my fave SW themes of all time.

It's not great but here's a slightly better version.

Still looks good, thanks!

I haven't stopped believing in the Obi-Wan movie. Maybe they are waiting until after Solo comes out to announce it.

Someone made a mock-up of the early version of TFA's opening sequence. Kinda neat.

You know, despite enjoying the final result, I'm always fond of the very early TFA material mainly because a lot of it set it up more as an exotic space-pirate adventure. I really hope Rian and the GoT duo look back at that stuff for inspiration.

Everytime I see stuff like that I wish I could go into an alternate reality where Episode 7 was completely different just to see what it would've been like.

That TFA scene would've been awesome.

[edit]
To see on my alternate universe watch list:
Lord and Miller's SOLO
Trevorrow's episode 9
Josh Trank's Boba Fett
Steven Spielberg's episode 1

Wow. I have never seen this concept before.

That is fucking incredible.. what was the purpose of this, originally?

Too bad all it would have been met with is "COME ON THEY CAN'T EVEN CHANGE THE OPENING FROM ANH?! CARBON COPY"

The purpose is exactly it's biggest point against it as you just mentioned.

It was meant to be a fakeout/callback to ANH.

Another cool thing shown through the TFA art book here but not in the video was that as the ship was crashing, scavenger speeders would be racing towards it. This would have given it some Mad Max vibe as well.

Huh, that is really fascinating, considering we get some version of that when the TIE's are getting shot down by the falcon in TFA.

Man, that would have been one memorable and balsy opening.

But I meant, what is the purpose of hurling a star destroyer at Jakku? I'm assuming the FO is doing it, but why? Or am I way off

The two ships were also scavengers. They just dropped the thing after they were done with it.
Oh so scavengers were in space stripping it cuz they found it there?

Also, does that mean that the crash itself (the shot of the star destroyer as Rey passes by) was actually a lot more recent than perceived? Or did they still just go with "all this shit happened years back"?

Well it's important to know that visuals presented in the video were during the early stages of pre-production, so the Star Destroyer in the final film still seems to have been there since the Jakku battle.

But here's how the opening sequence went in the concept phase:
1. The video shown above, but it was also intercut with a male Solo-ish character rummaging it with his team before discarding the ship.
2. As the ship crashes, dozens of scavengers speeders with crews rush to it.
3. Ship crashes, and this is where we're introduced to Rey (Kira at the time) among the groups, who starts scaling the ship.

Personally, the visuals this could have presented sound great and very 90s-Spielbergesque, but one issue is that it also sounds like a slow start before getting to the main conflict.

Thanks for the info. I still think the final decision they made on the intro is superior though, as it introduces the struggle, Kylo, Finn and Poe without missing a beat.

Two episodes left of The Clone Wars in the last season (6). See how close yoda and the council comes to figuring all this out only to just miss it :(

So fucking good.

Sounds like there's going to be some book news this week. I'm guessing the Padme young adult novel that was leaked a while ago could be one.
