I hate the boss fight of Jin/Malos. Jesus Christ, I can't beat them and I don't know how to do it lol It's the most difficult one so far and I'm so enraged that I had to stop to play it.
Tip:
Assuming I'm thinking of the right boss fight, you only need to get one of them down to half health, so an early chain attack may just do the trick.

Yeah, it's that one and I know that I need to do that. The problem is:

Malos and Jin kill my party and sometimes me early in the battle. And I can't even reach a point where I can do a chain attack because I need to revive the other ones. I tried every combination possible but it's not working so far haha

Even with other battles I hadn't to fight more than 20 times. This is the level of this one, even if I'm not underlevel.

When you farm up and only open legendary cores (with over 900 luck) you will start rolling in 4 star blades. after 300 legendary cores I've got around 50 4 star blades in my party now
That's what I've been doing. All I get are three stars. Besides, even if I were to draw 50 4 stars, I'd still have to fill go through the process of filling out their affinity charts. There's no good reason why overdrives should be so hard to obtain. From the beginning they should have been salvage rewards just like the boosters, and I hope with this new experience trading shop in the update, the overdrives will be one of the items for trade.

At this point I doubt you really need overdrives. 30k for 1 skill is huge !

Overdrives are incredibly easy to get. Just max out a 4-star common blade and release it. I think I have about 15-20 4-stars from trying to pull rare blades.

Please. I'm over 160 hrs into the game and after hundreds cores, I only have three 4 star blades. They're more rare than the rare blades.

I'm with Kino. I'm about 120+ hours into the game and only have two or three four-crown blades. Maybe the RNG gods just hate me, but I don't think they're easy to come across at all... plus, you've got to max out their affinity chart too.

Just to make it clear, I don't need overdrives. I've got pretty lucky in the sense that the majority of the blades I've pulled have been on the 'right' driver.

Happy Valentines Day everyone

I love this.

Question are there missable heart to heart? Or are they always stay on the map no matter the chapter?

I know we have QoL patch coming up... Did they ever address how the game looks/runs in portable mode yet?

I've had the game since launch and thought it looked incredibly rough in portable mode. I prefer to play docked, but I have way more time to play portable when I take my Switch to work with me and play during downtime. QoL changes sound nice and are enticing me back in, but I haven't really kept track on whether or not they addressed the portable mode visuals and performance, since I know that was one generally agreed upon issue with the game at its launch.

None of the patches so far have changed the performance, and the official post about this week's patch doesn't mention any performance changes either.

I can't remember a first party Nintendo game that directly mentioned performance improvements in its patch notes so there might be a chance of performance improvements in this week's patch, but I don't know how likely it would be.

Huh I never had problems really. Maybe lost like one time but other than that I just kept everyone topped off with
blade Nia heals
and swapped between Mythra and I believe Vale.

Played a bunch last night to prepare for the NG+ patch. Mostly running around and getting some gear I might want. Did some of the DLC quests, hopefully they add more because they're not exactly mind blowing. Seems like they will based on the numbering.

Nia is really lagging behind for me on SP.

Some of the theories are amazing.
but it could be the villain for Xenoblade 3 who knows.
The spoiler is my guess. There's already a link between XB1 and XB2, I imagine they'll want to link XB3 to the others somehow and that's a way to do it.

Aren't you mistaking it with another? Because
We can't use Mythra/Pyra in this fight at all in the first phase because she's just a husk right now

Will the update allow you to use character-locked blades on Merc missions? I'm missing one of the Fortitude field skill blades necessary for an Ursula-based mission, and would love to just use Poppi QT.

Does anyone know some great place to grind? I can't beat this boss with any way so I'll try to just level up everyone to make it more easy.

Sort of cross posting from the patch notes thread, but here goes:

I enjoy RPGs on the whole, just tepid with jumping into this one. Any suggestions or ideas to help ground me, I feel like I almost need to see a video of someone in combat and be able to see their hands and screen at the same time. Does anyone know if this exists?

Also were any of the complaints about the handheld resolution resolved with prior patches?

Handheld resolution hasnt really improved, but its not unplayable or anything. Are you asking for general combat tips? And early thing that helped me was learning how to cancel autoattacks, and then finding equipment that gave damage boosts if you cancel autoattacks.
Pretty much all you do is hit the button of the art you want to do at the same time that the auto attack hits the enemy and you will see a blue circle appear in the centre of the screen (thats how you know it worked) When you cancel auto attacks like this is makes your special meter go up faster. Also, most weapons have a 3 hit auto attack string, and your special meter fills up more if you cancel on the 2nd or 3rd hit, so sometimes its worth holding off for a second or two to cancel on that 3rd hit.
Hope that helps!

It depends on your current lvl but dinos in temperentia are good. Or just World Tree, there are several unique monsters with various lvl nice to farm for drops and lvl.

I saw your post in the other thread - but I'm afraid it's difficult to describe the combat. It's super complex, but starts off very simple.

It is built around automated attacks, building metre and performing specials. However, that really is just scraping the surface.

What I will say is, it builds over time and you are constantly incentivised to engage in each battle - despite having elements of automation, the game has systems in place to make sure you don't just sit and watch.

For example, cancelling out of auto-attacks at the right time into your special attacks, gives you a damage boost. Additionally, some specials might do more damage from the side or from behind, meaning you have to adjust where you are on the battlefield to get the most out of them.

It does start slow, but it becomes VERY systems heavy. I'm trying explain enough to give you an idea of what it's like without going into loads of other stuff. lol

There's A LOT to take in. Just don't go in expecting an action game.

Well with that patch coming tommorow it looks like I'll be spending many more hours on this damn game.
That new game + is going to be the bane of my time.

Man, I really hate field skills gate.

I never had to grind ever and as I said on the previous page, I keep overleveling the story content. Just try to do the sidequests.

It depends on your current lvl but dinos in temperentia are good. Or just World Tree, there are several unique monsters with various lvl nice to farm for drops and lvl.
Well I didn't really have to grind one bit. Visit a INN and see how much levels you can get.

I was able to beat them with level 56 along my recently bought Sheba but thanks for the response either way haha I can't believe that I finally did it after more than 40 tentatives. lol

Well, it's been a bumper evening for me... there's a story spoiler in here so be warned.

Three new rare blades and two superbosses down!

Managed to pull Vale and Godfrey - I also finally opened Vess's core crystal.

I defeated Ophion, unlocking the super awesome chips (seriously, I stuck them on all my tanks and their attack, block and critical hit rate all went through the roof).

I also smashed the annoying 'evasion-happy' level 120 animal in the factory. Nia's passive health skill saved my ass until Tora fell of the edge.

I had no choice but to go for broke and bring out Pneuma - it was over pretty quickly after that. :P

What a night, I feel like I made some good progress. Is Godfrey any good? I'm thinking of putting him on Rex or Morag just to cover the ice element. With the right chips he has basically the same stats as Finch, but lacks the agility bonus.

I appreciate the write up. I wish there was a demo!!! Or that I had friends, either or, to try this out first haha.

I think I am going to bite the bullet and scoop this up soonish. Do you need to have the dlc to get some of QoL stuff they have been adding?

So without any plot spoilers, can someone tell me if you keep playing your main file after you complete the main story?

I forgot to say before but Pyra/Mythra in the end of chapter 7:
Damn, her true form is really great (I like Pyra and Mythra designs tho, for the most part). It's a shame that we can only use her in the special but the combination of them in personality and visuals is really good. And Rex got a better one too.
