After 364 missions with my trusty CB, I needed a change. Decided to try a weapon from the few I'd never touched before in past games. Given that criteria I was looking at Dual Blades, Lance, or Gunlance.
Welp... I have found love.

That's kinda the game, ya. You don't have to craft full sets of each monster. Mix and Match.

I have the charm for it at level 3, need 1 part to max the Diablos CB tree then might commit towards the Dora armour for handicraft for it?
I would not recommend Daora armor for an endgame CB set. My preferred set is the dragon king eyepatch, dober beta mail, Nerg beta arms and waist, and Dodogama beta legs. throw in some gems to max out the attack up skill and an no element boost gem and you'll be unstoppable.
I don't fully understand how his 'effect' gets you. Sometimes I don't even know I have it because I don't get hit or anything and then he'll leave the zone and the music tones down and I can hear my health is thumping or something. I'm like WTF? when did that happen?
Just just builds up real fast suddenly. But it's so easy to get rid of with Nulberries so not even an issue.
I'll see how that looks thanks. So many good skills are on awful armour, especially playing as a female :(
Can you use nulberries before it fully hits you and you have half life? Should I have an internal clock going and just use nulberries every 2 minutes or so? Or do they only work after you've been effected?
I'm in the middle of farming him for fangs to upgrade one of my swords and only got 2 after 4 kills.

Oh, it looks like your character dressed themselves by finding scraps out of a dumpster. I have the samurai armor cosmetic set from the digital deluxe edition so I don't have to worry about the look of the armor sets.
I don't believe so because my character won't eat them unless I'm affected, iirc. If I get tainted, I just run away eat it and heal. Not too much of an issue.
pretty much, Null berries make that whole fight a snooze feast. And the berries are like, right outside its lair too.
Whats a good end game katana armor set. I'm currently running with the dragon king eyepatch, kushala cista, Kaiser vambraces, and Nergigante coil and greaves. Could I do better? I'm hunter rank 40.
Make sure you get the quests from the NPCs to catch them first!
I farmed for hours to catch the rare pets, finally did, then a few hours later got quests from them to catch them again. Epic face palm.
Seconded, there is so much versatility and utility with the Lance. Useful upper pokes, charging, jump mounting, counter/super block counter, easy dodge utility. You will be able to absolutely abuse a monster up close and feel amazing never popping a health potion. Oh, and enjoy the Mastee Mounter medal (unless you're playing with a Glaive user haha)
I killed a temepred elder with a crystalburst. I was too scared to fight it in that room where he sleeps .
So, a short "how to" for the Swagxe would be, smack in axe form if gauge not filled, smack with sword form if gauge is filled, hit till red form, then hit more and before gauge is over do the fireworks grab. is it right? anything I miss? (I know ther are videos but they are hard to understand to me not being a native english speaker).

This is what I am using but it's not the be all and end all and I'm sure people might not like it or disagree.
Weapon - Extermination's Edge (Att Gem Slotted)
Helmet - Rath Soul beta (2 Att Gem Slotted)
Chest - Rathalos Mail beta (Att Gem Slotted)
Waist - Nergigante Coil beta ( Tenderizer Gem Slotted)
Gloves - Xeno Claws alpha ( Att Gem Slotted)
Legs - Nergigante Greaves beta ( Critical Jewel Slotted)
Necklace - Mighty Charm 2
It looks ugly as sin but it gives you the following.
- Attack Boost 7
- Weakness Exploit 3
- Critical Boost 3
- Maximum Might 3
- Flinch Free 1 (this is garbage, but comes from gloves)
- Rathalos 2 piece bonus which increases elemental damage on crits, which you'll be doing out the ass as this will give you about 95% Crit.
I think I've gotten one on like every 2 or 3 runs. I'm guessing the drop rate isn't that bad.
Elementless Damage jewel with the Diablo glaive.
Yeah... had zero problem with Vaal Hazak outside of its second hand smoking that cut my health in half. Seems like if you have the armor set up for it that stops that from happening, it is a cake walk of a fight.
Hell yeah, I got Nergigante after my third attempt with a LS and some potions.
Feels so good!
The first boss that gave me some "bullshit!" moments, but I'm glad I got him!
Are you talking about the one where he jumps up and seemingly pulls in embers while floating? It can be out-ranged or blocked.
It's kinda hard to recommend things for people as someone's play style may be totally different to another persons play style. If the set looks like you want it to and provides the skills you think suit the way you play then it'll work.
The "meta" seems to be at the moment to find ANY, literally ANY, way to get Attack to level 7, Weakness Exploit to level 3, and then getting Crit modifiers to help you get as close to 100% as humanly possible. Doing that for LS, Duel Blades, GS all seem to be really good to do, hell I even saw some people doing it with sword and shield, lance and even gun lance.
Looking back some previous monster hunter videos and stumbled on video about hunting arts. They look really cool. Why its not in the World? Would it have been to much for newcomers or hunting arts were not well received?
They were a broken mess that a lot of people didn't like. They took a lot of the good things from the styles and arts and included them in the base moveset for each weapon in World.
The boni with the above set would be
Handicraft Lv. 4 (for that sweet white sharpness)
Weakness Exploit Lv. 3
Attack Lv. 2 (+ 3 levels from charm and 2 from gems)
Leaves a few gem slots open for whatever.
- Status
