Alright, well it was worth a try at least. Guess this fight was just never meant to happen. They really need to work out some of these private match issues.
EDIT: The one work around I keep getting told to try is changing our Fighter ID and joining... which seems dumb but also supposedly works more consistently than anything else at this point.

This is not what you think when you look at whatever is in the game. You think "welp he's there I guess".
So yeah that looks like complete shit to me considering the flawless job they've done with ever other character.
Ah. Well in that case I'm out of ideas. Going to give it a try with my friends whenever they show up and then most like just give up when that inevitably doesn't work. This game plays so well, why does the stuff built around said gameplay have to be so bad?!

They rushed the game out so that it could be fit before the end of the fiscal year and make more profit.
This way the DLC sell on the new fiscal year, it's double profit from the same game.
Sadly the online paid the price, but at least that's something they will patch around march and then the game will be as good as it should be all around.
I went 9-1 while playing online today the very first match was my loss, probably the best time I've had playing yet.
Ha, I played someone earlier today who was obviously very new to the game and fighting games in general, and I am by no means great. But I had no issue taking out his point and mid without getting a scratch on me. Then his anchor, 16, comes out and I start getting wrecked haha. Once I composed myself I was able to take him down and on the rematch I made sure not to make the mistake of giving him a chance to set anything up. Even with a barely competent player 16 can be troublesome.
I love that Buu and Nappa work so well together. They're by far the most fun chars in this game for me.
So I guess finding ranked matches is some kind of queue system. Sometimes I get matched with a purple name or low connection and deny them, and then within 3 seconds a nother name pops up. They denied me quickly, and then I got a 3rd opponent just as fast. Like why can't match making always be that fast lol. Two in a row happen pretty often when I sent a match.
I totally know the feeling. Anchor #16 makes me tread carefully. Hell, #16 in general does that. I lost count of the amount of dunks I ate tonight.

I agree that secondary assist character 17 looks bad... but you're getting Ranger 17 so why are you complaining?
Lots of people aren't getting their favorite character at all. You get him in two different variations.

When people say this is easy to play, do they mean Smash Bros directional inputs? Or Mortal Kombat simpler-than-Street Fighter inputs? Or "just punch and kick together" inputs? Will I be counting i-frames?

Has auto combos that does combos for you, and nothing more complicated than quarter circle forward/back + button for attacks.
Of those it's closest to Street Fighter. If you know how to do the Fireball in Street Fighter, that's how you do pretty much all special moves in DBZ. Quarter Circle Forward or Back.
I have an old fightpad Street Fighter X Tekken that the game will not detect no matter what I do
Tried using 360ce, tried to use Steam's godawful controller setup stuff but nope that didn't work
Really dont want to have to use the Xbox One pad for this but I have no idea what else to do at this point.

You probably have to reinstall your 360 drivers. I know I have an old 360 wireless adapter that windows 10 cannot find automatically, and I have to go into device manager and manually attach it every time.
After a miserable start with the online tonight, it gradually got better and I got a lot of solid matches.
We gettin Broly and Bardock now folks. Its starting to heat up with news. Sounds like Bardock may have 3 gauges for electric shit or something and Broly has a meteor thing? Translation rough as hell. Either way cue the Goldberg music. We gots Broly.

After super id say 17 could do well in a slot. He has stood on light, used maximum spider, had a sucker punch moment of shooting someone during a transformation, projected multiple barriers to let folks healup and to eat attacks, used flurry shots like vegeta, injured Jiren, trapped someone in a barrier to move them in a beam to try for a ringout, and done tons of coordinated assaults. He was one of the top dudes for earth and even use a
self destruct attack
I'd say that after his role in the latest arc he's more than earned his spot as a standalone character in Fighterz.
There's a dude on PC named NeutralScrub. I have no idea who he actually is. He plays 21/Hit/Goku Black and he's 3rd on the leaderboards. I've probably been matched with him 10-15 times and he's taken my soul every single time. Deadass dude is probably responsible for like a fourth of my ranked losses. Beyond and away the best player I've played in this game on either platform yet. He manages to convert any scramble into solid damage and full-screen corner carry and then his corner pressure lasts forever. Finds a way to cover every hole in his strings with assists and even has reflect traps fit into them as well. It's incredibly rewarding to play against even though he's slowly torpedoing my ranked stats.
I understand to an extent why they make interacting with randoms so hard in this game. I know you can find someone on PS4 if their ID isn't private but it's still hidden enough that most people don't bother with unless they're really salty. PC doesn't even have that option though afaik. Everyone online might as well be faceless unless you met them outside of the game and set up a set that way (provided it even works).

More like Street Fighter inputs, but the general combat flow feels like Smash Bros. level of simplicity and ease.
What makes it really dificult in this game is that you don't even know if that's their ID since it only shows your lobby name here.
Yeah, that's a thing, though does it hide their ID if they choose to have all of their info private? I know it hides their ID on their card if you check it. PC doesn't have this option at all I don't think.
