I love this show. ❤️

animation owes so much to superjail! Rick and Morty comes to mind. I'm watching it again for the 4th time and it's the best show. animation at its best.

do you guys like superjail!?

I made the mistake of marathoning an entire season of this late at night. My dreams were fucked
Also I'll never forget the intro where Jacknife goes to regular jail and it's super depressing because instead of seeing surreal middle school notebook heavy metal sketches coming to life as he's carted off, he sees much more realistic human suffering like drug addiction, mental illness and a guy who has been stabbed while an acoustic version of the theme plays.

First time I ever knew about this what is it?

Adult Swim cartoon airing from 2008 to about 2012. Imagine Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, except the Chocolate Factory is instead a magical, extralegal prison. The Warden's character design and mannerisms were designed after Wonka, down to his uncaring child-like tendency to be very sociopathic, but seemingly oblivious to it.

What blame space put in the OP was the opening to almost every episode, where a criminal called Jacknife tries to commit a crime, only to get caught in the act by Jailbot (the all-purpose helper robot for Superjail, who both catches criminals and helps enforce order inside). The episodes also had a tendency to go to very weird places and end with trippy prison riots.

One of the show's only disadvantages was that it's the kind of show where everyone is awful to each other, so it's sometimes hard to sympathize with the characters.

Superjail! season 1 was my shit. But when the show switched from Augenblick Studios to Titmouse, I thought the drop in quality was too much and I stopped watching. Not sure how Seasons 2 on are really, but I just know I was super disappointed by the change in animation.

I should maybe go back and try and watch through the series.

Superjail is just that show. Weird yet oddly fascinating. I've always watched it when it aired after whatever was being shown.

Saw this when it was first on, and along with stuff like 12 oz mouse, Home Movies, and Tom goes to the Mayor, this was one of the shows that was just too weird for me. Was more SC Coast to Coast, Brak, Sealab.

I'd give it another shot nowadays though.

I absolutely can not stand this show.

The animation style is just so completely off putting to me. I love David wain and it's a huge shame that I hate the animation style so much.

yea the first season is fantastic, everything after that I dont know if I enjoyed it all the same as I did when the show first aired, but it's still a lot of fun.

the animation on the Warden in the season 2 opening ep blew me away the first time i saw it. Couldnt believe animation that fluid was on a tv show

The one with the terminally ill little girl is probably the episode that stuck with me the most. Still surprises me that that show was flash animated.

The first season was by far the best. Each one after it kept getting worse. The animation wasn't as good when they changed studios after the first season, either.

Couldn't get into the show, especially because I didn't like the character designs, but I was always blown away by how much shit was going on in a scene.

Even the way that each intro wasn't just like a Simpsons couch gag that plays into the reused theme song animation but new stuff going on in the background each time, it was a trip to watch in the middle of the night.

The first season was incredible but it lost a lot of visual charm after they switched animation studios.

Its okay. The animation lacks weight and flow, its all a bunch of random badly drawn shit happening at once. Its unique for what it is though I'll give it that.

i was more of a 12 oz. Mouse kind of person

I like you.

I have a love/hate relationship with Superjail. The animation in S1 was excellent with half decent dialogue. After that the animation becomes abysmal for a season or two and the dialogue is seemingly purposefully annoying and unfunny. The final season was a big step up in both regards and brought back the huge carnage scenes (the best part of the show by far IMO). I think I'm remembering all that correctly. I'll have to give it another watch in the near future to make sure.

Animation is amazing, can't say I enjoyed the show much outside of that though. Had some funny moments though.
