So we have to assume T'Challa took the herb sometime after his father was killed, but before he showed up in his suit for the first time, right? Did they bring one with them for some reason to the UN conference?

The Black Panther prelude comic shows T'Challa became Black Panther around the time Stark announced he was Iron Man, presumably because T'Chaka was getting too old.

My understanding is that he was Panther long before he was King; they aren't always the same person, especially once the King is old.

In Civil War, he does an enhanced jump to try to save T'Chaka just before/as the bomb goes off, right?

Well then there you go. Didn't know about the comic.

Where is this from? The art book?
Headcanon, as in personal fan fiction.
Yeah, there's no real official source for this. I was thinking about that BP post-credit sequence where
The kids call Bucky "White Wolf", and how maybe Bucky could end up doing ops for Wakanda. Shuri's obviously going to give him a new arm, but would they enhance him further?

So I imagine a conversation where T'Challa tells Cap about the herb, and the Hatut Zeraze, and then Cap connects the dots and realizes he's been a beneficiary of Wakanan technology all along.

Now that Marvel is maybe more open to people of color, I'd be cool with Nathalie Emmanuel being cast as Rogue. Please? ¿Por favor?

It's weird how very few people seem to notice that 3 of the past 4 MCU movies have been about the dangers of imperialism. I guess it's because a lot of GenX/late-millennial types write these movies off as "it's just a superhero movie bro lmao".

Three in a row also make a point of directly referencing slavery in dialogue.

I'm working on an essay that explores the themes of one of the movies because I think people erroneously dismiss them all as being thematically empty. Gonna post it soon.

There's only one milestone left for Black Panther to accomplish.

It's time for Coogler to do what Nolan couldn't.

Realistically, what Oscar could BP win? I loved the movie, but it's not winning any acting awards. Maybe best costume design?

could see BP getting nominated for Best Score, Production Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Costume Design. if there's any justice in the world it'll at least take Costume Design

1. Thor/Strange/Wanda
2. Hulk
3. Iron Man/Black Panther
4. Captain America etc. etc.

Costume design should be a lock, with a good chance of production design (but BR2049 will probably take that).

There's an outside chance that Letitia Wright could get a supporting actress nod.

Costume design, unless the Academy falls in love with some period piece.

Honestly though, I think it's got a shot at a best picture nomination.
Noooooo way.

I mean, it has the cultural clout but, purely on its merit as a film, it is just a blockbuster. "The Dark Knight" got nominations because it succeeded as a film first and as a superhero film second. And keep in mind, it got nominated in a year where the Academy was scared they were losing their audience because they were out of touch with the general populace. Ledger got the award for "TDK" largely because he passed after filming and his history of phenomenal performances. Had Ledger lived, I don't think the Academy would have given it to him.

Black Panther, as a film, does fall into the same Marvel Studios story trappings, most notably the finale is a CGI slugfest with some kind of objective that must be completed before time is up. The acting is fine, but it doesn't fit the Oscar's wheelhouse on character-focused drama fueling the plot instead of action. Plus, that's to say nothing of the ceremony's very real bias against any blockbuster action film winning the major awards (see: "Dunkirk" and "BR2049".)

I think Hannah Beechler will rightly get nominated for production design, and the team behind costumes for the costumes award. After that, Ludwig might get nominated for Soundtrack, but other than that, it's going to be locked out.

Also, Tony apparently knows about Thanos (or something) coming and ponders if he should call Steve, but doesn't.

That's going to be quite a moment when he eventually decides to...

I wonder how the people in the MCU must feel. Soldiers from the 40s coming back and kick asses. Giant Global Secruity Agencies beeing uncovered as WW2 Organisations, Third World Countries beeing reveeled as Worlds most advanced nation. Having superpeople running around is just the tip of the iceberg.
Would be seriously interested in a longer mockumentary about the regular people, there should be incredible turmoil and everything, no way a society takes all of that that easy.

Starting an MCU marathon as I have a week off and likely won't get any more downtime before April 28th!

First Avenger is highly underrated. Now onto Iron Man...

Finished GotG2 and it's the most beautiful movie in the MCU, and it's really good. I think I still prefer the first one, but not because the second is any worse. I just really like seeing the team come together, and how they fight each other cause they're so different.

You think we'll see more of the original Guardians team in GotG3? And Peter and Gamora enjoying their relationship. They can show so many things in GotG3. And have Adam Warlock as the antagonist trying to destroy the Guardians.

I think GotG Vol 3 will end up serving as a send-off to the current team. I can see Star-Lord & Gamora both exiting the franchise while Rocket & Groot go off to do their own thing and hopefully get their own movie at some point. While also introducing new recruits and allies (Adam Warlock chilling out and becoming a good guy) that will form the next generation of Guardians. I really want Korg & Miek on that team lol

Call it a pipedream - Gunn handing the Guardian reigns over to Waititi for a movie or two would be great. Ragnarok already feels closer in theme, setting, and character to the Guardians movies than the Thor ones.

Hell, just makes a hybrid movie - "THOR! And the Guardians of the Galaxy!" Sort of a He-Man flair to it. Thor, Valkyrie, Rocket, Groot, Mantis. Maybe Warlock or one of the OG Guardians in the mix.

Of course we have three movies in the next two or three years to get through first...

Can't say I'm too excited about Jessica Jones currently. Her first season was decent albeit slow, and she was a delight in Defenders. Maybe I'll be in the right mood come March, but the trailers surely haven't done anything to excite me.

just finished reading the annihilation comic series (Following this Cosmic Marvel reading order)

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it was alright I guess.

I enjoyed the Thanos mini series leading into it a lot more. Checking out Conquest next. One thing's for sure... I'm seeing all of the potential for Cosmic Marvel stuff in the MCU outside of GOTG. Especially now that the Fox properties are coming home. Gets me REAL excited for the future. Literally a million different things they can do.

Okoye really running alongside the Avengers in the Infinity War trailer. What a time.

And I'm very excited for Jessica Jones S2. I still think the first season was underrated.

Whoa...this is a perfect idea!

And Thor's already meeting the Guardians in IW before anyone else does, so the germ for that movie could get kickstarted right there.

Gunn's done with Guardians after Vol 3. And hopefully moving on to Thunderbolts.

Taika would be a great fit to tell the stories of the next generation Guardians, and he'd definitely take Korg & Miek with him if he did.

I don't think it's that much of a pipedream but I don't see Taika doing more than one movie for each Marvel property he touches. Maybe every few years he does a job with Marvel then spends the rest of his time doing his own personal projects lol
