Anyone? Trying to work out if I should get the PS4 version just in case it turns out to be great and I can convince friends to get it, or if the PC version will look significantly better than the Pro version and I should just get that.
I doubt that the PC version will look significantly better than Pro based on MGSV, which looked great on PC but wasn't dramatically enhanced over PS4 other than some increased effects. The main benefits I see on PC are controls/mods, but balanced against a concern over long term player population for matchmaking.

Lol you don't get the point about Kojima obviously. Its not about moving past the fact he isnt at the helm anymore. Its about how a company treated him and the legacy he started. Its fair enough that people take a stand, he was treated very poorly.

the streamer i watched who is farthest along, is 10 hours in, has 37% of the first map explored and has just encountered
these kinda spider enemies that run along the walls and ceiling and attack you
btw stealth kills are REALLY worth it. if you stealth kill an enemy you don't carve them open, you send their body back through a wormhole which gives you way more Kuban. A wanderer that normally gives 700 Kuban will ive 1050 Kuban when extracted after a stealth kill
This is a game where player population will be important right? In general, consoles usually hold onto player population much better than PC, so I would go that route.
I'm currently level 10. You level up by using Kuban Energy. Each time you level up, you'll gain a skill point.
I didn't use any skill points until I was level 8, lol. Because I like using the spear, I put a point into the thrusting skill which gives me one more hit for a combo.
Other than that, I used points for CQC and put the rest into stamina, life and strength.
There are times you may come across broken equipment. When you repair and craft them, underneath attack and durability, you'll see a range of numbers. For example, Attack (40 - 65). What that means is when you craft it, the Attack stat will have a value within that range. So you can end up with something stronger than what you have or weaker.
Yup! Definitely the way to go, especially with how expensive Oxygen can get. Making use of the Kuban crystals (which refill everytime you return to base) and Lure (which you can craft) can help you get behind them.

I do get it but I also get these poor developers are trying their hardest to please the fans while being overwhelmed in kojima's shadow.
The fact is (for me) the game is fun.
What does that CQC stat actually do? AFAIK (at least in the survivor tree) there isn't CQC moves like MGSV (outside the counter and leg sweep stuff) so where is that damage being applied? Melee weapons?
Which streamer are you watching? I'd love to see some of this before considering a purchase.
Was really hoping before release they'd drop the online only requirement. Not a big deal though. Will probably rent it this weekend and play the SP.

No, the singleplayer campaign plays one two big open world maps and is focused on exploration and survival. You build up your base camp where you build facilities and let your NPCs work, send NPCs out on missions. Out in the open world you do also do some tower defense mainly for side missions or to establish new wormhole teleporters for fast travel
Everything was nanomachines, the guy who shits himself is the hero, there's a J-Pop broadcasting mech, and apparently there's a guy with a messed up face whose job it's been to shadow you the entire time and is super important but actually has no importance to anything whatsoever.

No, it seems it's way more than that but you have good reason to believe its just a tower defense because the marketing for this game is bad.
The game itself though is really good.

I had fun with the Beta, and Best Buy is selling it for $32 with a $10 gift card. That's hard to pass up.
Yup, it's a pretty good deal.
During the final hours of the beta i got a blue S1000 shotgun which was really helpful against big groups of enemies. Along with the bigger pouches for carrying more ammo it felt overpowered.
MGSV has all those guns but most of them are irelevant after a point. This game though has a chance to make all those guns have a use and give us a reason to grind for them.
I don't like how Kojima has treated Hayter whom also started a legacy of his own inside MGS universe, so I guess what goes around comes around.

Yeah, people acting like kojima was a saint should remove their rose tinted glasses. No, it doesn't excuse what konami has done mind ya but let's not forget Kojima is not entirely innocent.
Any more details on the story? More than the opening cutscene? And are there cassette tapes like in PW/TPP?
There are cassette tapes, yes. I haven't seen a proper long cutscene again yet, but from the launch trailer we know there are.
So far the streamer has been exploring, finding survivors and memory boards and the only cutscenes were the codec convos.
There are also music cassette tapes btw, lol. With Peace Walker music and such. You can play the music at your base camp to raise morale apparently.

This is not the thread for the Kojima/Konami situation, so we actually do have some ground to stand on in asking you and others to stop. Starting here I'll be reporting the posts that choose to ignore that, because I already had to do this routine once in the Beta OT.
