Despite my excitement over the BeastMorphers announcement, my expectations are on the ground floor considering it might have Ninja Steel's writing staff.

If all else fails, I can look forward to Hasbro's Power Rangers in 2020/2021, I guess.

In other news, S.I.C. continues making even the more dodgy designs of Gaim look 10x better.

I know how it feels. While I'm watching the current series weekly right now, I think I already dropped a few series those last few months. I really have to continue Kuuga.

Build 23

I hope we see more of Grease. His scene with Misora was great, haha.

But yeah, this episode makes it look like Hokuto is just the next turn from the government building. Well, the guy can fly, so he could get there fast, I guess. Also, Bros with matching costumes is becoming a thing in Rider, huh?

So, 2/3 dead. I give Aka two more episodes alive, tops. I kinda expect Grease not to survive long too, but I don't want him to die :(

You know, all this mistery for THAT reveal... it was kinda underwhelming. I wonder if he'll become an emo joke like the Hoppers from Kabuto.

Wow, what an entrance by the new rider. You rarely get to see a main character
getting shot point blank. I liked the scissor kick too!

Fights devolving to just regular brawling is getting old though, what happened to all the interesting moves - not a single rabbit tank jump punch or anything.

One thing didn't go the way I expected:
Thought either Grease or one of the other riders would beat down on the Gear Bros then the new Rider comes and dominates them to show off how strong he is, but they couldn't even handle the Gear Bros at all. Also never would have guessed the new bottle would be Crocodile.

I do agree that things that used to be a big deal (the wall, hazard trigger) are getting brushed aside pretty casually.

Lupato 2
  • Pato's full henshin scene seems so underwhelming compared to Lupin's. also Pink is a legit cutie <3
  • Didn't notice in Lupin's they smirk once their helmet is being constructedalso still dislike Blue's pose during the Lupin henshin
  • I wonder how much went into these episodes with all the CG battles
  • I still love the GoPro-esque fight scenes
  • Good to find out what the Lupins motive is
  • Pato's MegaBo seems so.....ugh. wonder how long it's gimmick will last
  • Goshu having her own entrance song...its sexy sounding too.
  • have we figured out what hte "V" and "S" are supposed to be for each time, other than just to make VS?
  • ADIEU!
Build 23
  • Grease going nuts over Mittan won't get old. I'd pay 50,000 to hug Miitan
  • oh yeah more re-colored devices
  • Gear Bros and Remote Bros seems....weird? it's like their suits should've been one rider, but they split it into two Riders to have more of a threat?
  • 2/3 down. so that means Aka is gone in an episode or two it seems
  • "I've got better control" *2 seconds later* "ugghhh"
  • Rogue is powerful as hell. i also wonder what that giant Red thing on the back of his helmet is. feels like that was a mistake? also judging by the name,
that was a very underwhelming reveal
  • FUNKY!

Build - 23

2/3 of Greases mates dead. I am now expecting Grease to survive but his final mate won't survive.

Laughed at the stuff between Misora, Sawa and Sawatari

Lupat - 2

Lupin Backstory, some more Pato focus with their full henshin scene which I liked. Though I hope they focus more on one team in some eps as this split focus thing may hurt both teams later on. (defo Patoranger at least since Lupin has hard a large chunk of screentime unmorphed for sure).

I liked the Lupin mecha, nice fancy fighting style.

Next week looks to introduce the Pato mecha.

At the very least, they seem to be taking their time with it and not introducing everything at once/as quickly as they can.

Anyway enjoyable ep.

I liked all the GoPro shots used in LupinPato this week and the last. Seem to be getting more out of that here than they ever did in Kyuranger. Which is weird since they were pretty decent in Zyuohger. I like the Patorangers being goofy cops that will never catch the thieves but at the same time had fun action scenes.

LuPato 2

- Airhorns for mech sounds, Lupinranger, really?
- Those character shots at the opening look like something out of a 2000s sentai opening, heh.
- What's up with the ice theme near the OP's end? The butler looks suspicious as hell in it, I wonder if his boss is the villain.
- I lie the mechas, the models were cool and they had a lot of action... even if most of it was CG.
- I like Patren #1. He's not only the rare Funny Red.
- ...oh, and he's also a responsible one! I like it.
- Oh, *that's* what's up with the ice theme.
- ...is that the Mall from Persona 3?
- Yep, Butler is suspicious as hell.
- They should use the Go Pro at the next Kamen Rider. Maybe this will make the suit actor look a bit more active, heh.
- Patranger's transformation is a lot less stilish, but I kinda like it too. Very 2000s.
- The roll call is fine too. Not as good as the Lupin ones, but it's good.
- Patrangers are a parody sentai, that makes sense!
- ... wtf is that finisher. Well, it was funny, I guess.
- ...Goshu's theme is weird.
- And it became Night? Well, not complaining, Night scenes are cool.
- I like how the shared toys work.
- That robot fight was really, really good! Again, lots of CG with a few practical shots here and there, but the scenes were great! I hope we have a few more of those fights before it reverts to the same old.
- Of course they don't know. They'll just order lunch.
- No ED! Maybe Kyuranger's controversy has something to do with it? Probably not, I mean, it's more time to focus on both teams.

While the Patrangers had a bit more focus, this is still clearly the Lupinranger's series. Still, very strong second episode, I like how the series is taking it's time to develop the characters and toys.

LuPato 2

-A-A-Airhorns for the Lupin mechs gave the dumbest smile on my face. Not gonna lie.

-With the way they keep bringing up Lupin's descendant, he's probably going to be X.

-I can't believe the Weather Dopant is at it again.

-The opening of the show and the dueling vocals are nice. Predicting right now that there'll come a time when the Lupinrangers or the Patorangers are out of commission and the opening will be replaced by the solo theme of the other team.

-Teruaki Sugihara still putting in the work as director. I hope he does more episodes.

-The Patorangers are *probably* gonna job for a good chunk of the show, but they're pretty funny (Patoren1 especially) so I honestly don't mind this.

Overall, a good continuation of last week.

Build 23
....They JUST declared war, what do you mean going there would be considered an invasion!? Anyway. The Sawa x Miitan x Grease gag was a 10/10, the action direction seemed better than usual and WHAT A DEBUT.
The reveal totally worked for me and made me go WTF loudly. Did not expect that at all.

Build is keeping such a streak of excellent episodes, I fear Toei is going to cancel Rider after this, damn.

I also wonder what that giant Red thing on the back of his helmet is.

Its a fragile sticker!

Don't know if you are clued up on Japanese politics right now but there is a huge debate going on over whether Japan needs to build an army to be able to perform first strikes on military aggressors. This Kamen Rider series might appear like fun and games to us but its actually knuckling down deep on Japanese pacificism. I'm curious to see where the series goes with it, whether it'll be pro-military or anti-military in the end.

That's fine, but the reasoning still makes no sense. The prime minister declared war. What could be the retaliation of the Riders going there? More war? An invasion is coming either way.

Principles. The people generally fall in line with the government in Japan, so Sento doesn't want to encourage invasion and war as a valid reaction to anything. Considering he is essentially a national hero now after his battle with Grease, and the people see him as an extension of the government, his words and action will be a major influence on society.

The prime minister has been trying to keep Touto's pacifism. Wanting to counter attack or even attack preemptively was the whole reason Night Rogue was kicked out. I think the Prime Minister is wrong and his pacifism won't go anywhere in this situation (they even showed that Hokuto would have attacked anyway and the tournament idea he had was just a waste of time), but it's consistent with his previous stance.

"WATCH OUR MOVIE" x 2

Though I'm not sure how seriously they'll factor in, there's the brief Heisei Generations Final nod as well as the time period Gentoku is exiled covered in the ROGUE blu-ray special.

Otherwise, solid episode.

Police brutality against stylish looking grunts 2
Liked this way more than the first episode. Still hate how cheap looking (and out of the place) the big white pistols are.

Lupin vs Patra 1 and 2

I adored these first two episodes. Full of great stunts and camerawork, great music and designs, and good characters all around. Also, this is the realization of the promise the early 2000s Sentai had when they first started experimenting with CG zords, except now it actually looks good enough to compete with the miniature and practical effects, and in various cases they look a lot better thanks to the great style CG can afford to give them.

Quite a bit of city destruction!

windows blown up and bridges and what not. I wonder if they will touch on this stuff, with the whole police theme.

Still waiting to see how the show is really gonna look after the budget runs dry lol. Can't have crazy cg stuff every eps. Not garo budget.

Honestly curious how gobuster adaption is gonna work, the limited amount of toys really does afford them more opportunity to develop stuff.

I feel like one of the huge problems of recent power ranger adaptations is the sentai material got so many toys, combined with truncating the 50 eps show down to power ranger season length, really does just have them throw power ups at you constantly, often with no real justification or accomplishment.

Gobusters actually had even less power ups and upgrades, in which every mecha is used through out the season depending on the scenario. Feel like there is enough there to make something special, the question is will they?

Yep. If they can keep the mech battle quality, it's promising. I really liked the individual mech action scenes too.

I know we aren't quite there yet at the "final" villain/boss/Rider enemy, but it's an interesting contrast between Ex-Aid's Kamen Rider Cronus and Build's Kamen Rider Rogue and how they were shown in the power creep versus each other. One simply couldn't be touched at first. The other is like "swing all you like", and literally can't be budged.

Okay so this episode only reinforced how much I want a Build/Kabuto crossover. Punished Gentoku with the Hoppers, Hippers with the Bros? Come on!

I would love a scene with the Hoppers and Gentoku bonding over being failures and coming back... only to become jobbers after some time.

That is, that if Gentoku even becomes one. Can't be sure with Build.

I was referring to the last fight he'd had as Night Rogue, where Sparkling didn't have any issues with him. It made his first appearance as Rogue feel more significant, like the humiliation fueled him to get stronger.

(Also my wife cannot stop thinking of Sad Future Barry Allen when she sees Gentoku in that wig.)

Rogue is getting a miniseries, which will explain how he went from Night Rogue to Rogue. Just gotta wait for it to be released then subbed.

HEY FRIENDS WAS AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEY ANNOUNCE A DAMN GOBUSTERS ADAPTATION I THOUGHT IT WAS DEAD IN THE GROUND FOREVER
Ive heard nothing but bad things about Ninja Steel so this HOPEFULLY will be the thing to get me back into PR hopefully a Hasbro influence can do something about a QoL change.

Build 23
Not surprised who Rogue turned out to be. Gentoku looks SO EVIL right now but curious what will happen to the Night Rogue form since that Rider is still in the OP or does homeboy with the glasses still have them?

Lupat 2
-AIRHORNS ARE STUPID GREAT
-Patren #1 has spent two episodes screaming he has taken over the role Spada had from Kyuranger of just YELLING ALL THE TIME
-Lupinranger got that rough backstory super hard

Kiriko and the Shift Cars deserved their own webshow/movie. Ah, I miss the Drive cast ): Shin is the best main Rider after Gentaro, no contest.

Someone has any gifs of the drone/Gopro shot of the Lupinrangers vs the monster? They are getting better at this.

Also, nice try with the jumping shot using a selfie stick, badly removed from some frames.

We're the spotlight? Nice, that reminds me I really have to get back to watching toku, I only did Lupin/Pato the past few weeks and my Goggle V watch that I started months ago sputtered out after episode 5.
